The thing about Finegold lectures is that you can never be sure if you're watching something for the second time, or instead if he just happened to make the same jokes for the umpteenth time in a similar order.
It's even harder if TH-cam has decided to forget parts of your watch history.
@@benjaminmiddaugh2729 that is impossible.

hahahaahahha
Luka Calov 😂😂😂😂 what was that?!?
Raul, did you just not get it or was it just weird?
@@erikhjortsater5461 He just inverted the names right?
Raul, sort of. The attack is of course not named after a mr attack, it’s called an attack because it’s an attack. I was just more fumbled over your comment. What was the purpose of that sentence?
Mr. Attac is the most overworked person in chess. ;-)
"He might checkmate me, but I'm up a bishop"
Ben never fails to make me laugh
"I could lecture all day, because I get paid by the all day" man that mixup got me good xD
Finegold's jokes are like my chess openings: A few pointless variations of the same two lines
I love his humour 😁

Archer is slowly becoming Ben
It is scary and funny at the same time.
hahaha
How can anyone not like Archers' grasp of these lessons though? Hope he sticks with it and plays Magnus and all the other elites! Thx.
Very suspicious.
Archer: Sure
Its scary.. except it's not scary.. haha
"We castle opposite sides and mate each other. And the audience loves it, and then my blood pressure goes up." Lmao.
😂 😂
We need two things:
1. A Laughtrack
2. A Ben Finegold Drinking Game
Very suspicious.
Everyone gets a different phrase and when it happens they have to skull their drink:

Always play Bishop F1

He is also the only one powerful enough to be bitten by a computer lenguage

maybe the first few times but I've seen like 5 of his lectures and he always has the same jokes, mr attack, guess again, etc. I'm sure we've all had that teacher in some class.

Confusing the audience
I was literally lol at 46:42 "lost to Sevian, he was lucky. Lucky he was playing me!"

“Eminem don’t sue me” 8:30
Am I the only one who watches this guy to not only learn chess but coz we love this guy...
6:00 I really had the urge to raise my hand and tell his story
I kinda feel like i'm cheating on agadmator by watching Finegold but damn he's so entertaining and full of vast knowledge
@Cygnustsp wish I could see the two of them play.
Dallis Johnson Agad is an amazing chess analyzer, but I’m not sure if he’s a finegold-level chess player
@cole frankenhoff
But after the game agad gets to analyze the game. During the game GM Finegold can make funny comments. Win win.
Dallis Johnson X XD, never thought of it that way
@@coleschemistrychannel4172 Good analyst maybe, but whether it's the TH-cam format or his skill, his presentation isn't nearly as instructive. Like, this stuff about Ben's bad moves vs Cayden's bad moves for example, I don't expect a compelling discussion from agadmator like we got here
This lecture looks familiar. Very suspicious...
Exactly.

2 years later and this is still a great video to learn the sicilian defense. Watched your video on the London system as well and have only played the two (or tried to) with good success in a very short amount of time. Thanks Ben!
He got a lot of compensation except for one thing... no compensation
lmao
I have had the privilege of watching a few of these videos. Love the humor throughout. Thank you for the great teaching 👍👍

Hey, it's my favorite defense and/or pizza.
Thank you Mr. Finegold for another entertaining yet educating lesson.
Damne, during an attempted mugging that morning Ben blocked two bullets with his arm then strolled into class and started teaching.
This guy had me laughing quite a few times. "I could lecture all day, because I get paid by the all day."
Lolol. "He got to 2200 obviously...Cuz I'm the greatest coach ever..." Nice self promotion there finegold. Very sly plug.

Mr. Finegold,
I have been watching your videos for years. Thank you for improving my chess game. I’m still relatively low rated but I have improved greatly. You are a fantastic teacher! Thank you

Ben, I'm no good at chess and really have no interest in getting better or seriously studying it, but I do enjoy your videos. You manage to break things down in an interesting way and for some reason that i can't explain your jokes always make me chuckle. Keep doing you man!
Thank you sir. I am a professor of mechanical engineering. Stopped chess long back (6 years before) after reaching my fide rating to 1243 as I couldn't afford for coaching. But after your coaching lectures and now got a professor job, my interest in chess started blooming. Thanks
I am very pleased that I can understand your speech.

Hes just awesome
no way awonder!! so crazy hearing your name in chess videos that i watch
It's not crazy at all, when this video was released he'd not long become one of the youngest American grandmasters of all time lmao, that's like thinking that a motorsport documentary mentioning dale earnhardt is crazy
"He can't do Viswanothing" I was still recovering from the eminem reference but this is just tooooo refined! Ded
Yeah, I remember descriptive notation in the chess books of the '70s being a self-taught (otherwise) student of chess then myself in Detroit!
Have no idea now why I didn't like standard notation then, as it transformed to today. Yeah it's better than ...Q-K1, lol. ...Q-e8 now -- from 6:30. Thx, brought back memories.
QxC8 in the last game looks quite interesting for white at the end.
I love this defence....it makes my opponents lose because they always looking for a way to checkmate and when they try the often shoot themselves in the foot
I love when Ben's bad joke protege in the room
GM Panda is the best and the funniest teacher ever!
thanks for putting your videos on you tube this has helped my chess a lot!
Good gamesmanship advice. My intro to the Sicilian was Najdorf. I don't think I put the knight on c6 much, if ever. I think it was because of a Bobby Fisher game, when ... Nbd7 seemed like such a cool move, supporting the knight on f6, leaving the long diagonal for the Bishop after ... b5. I was never very coherent about when to do what. I'm coming to like ... Nc6, more, after watching GJ_Chess channel and this video.
Make a video about albin countergambit variations!
The god of chess has come to teach us mere mortals
that intro music is so good
It is a sly dig at St. Louis... the happy part of St. Louis Blues. Ben used to work there.
I'd never heard of this guy until just now...
At 10:05 he says why you don't take knight f5, how do you check mate from that possition, what am i missing?
I wondered the same thing. One thing he could do is pawn to f6, the pawn on g7 is pinned and he would lose the bishop if he takes with it. However, if you then take on g7 with the rook, the king can still go to h8. I guess the trick is to get the queen involved somehow. If you get your queen on g7 it's game over. Don't know the exact line for that though.
Bob Finegold is the best
This should be called calling people out with ben finegold
that guy is hilarious LOL , am not sure what i enjoyed the most , his humor or his lecture
Manis Davidovich is a very good friend of mine :) he's a national master from Michigan... Known to play weird openings :D
i swear the last few vids have been re-uploads
At 40:07 the move white should play is Queen x A4 defending the bishop , defending the check mate on C2 and very important attacking the E1 black‘s rook. Then if black knight takes bishop , rook D5 X A5 bishop and the white rook ‘ s on A5 can oppose the black C1 rook on C5.IF C1 rook takes C5 White check mates Queen takes rook on E1.
I try to follow your rule: Always play Qc2 mate - but it's hard to do, sometimes my opponents won't let me! This is not fair!
Guys I have a quick question; around 40:20 when he asks what move defends everything, isn't bishop e5 a pretty good defensive move? it could go something as: bxe5, kxe5 rxe5, and finally maybe h4 to defend the rook on e5?
PS: sorry if the notation is incorrect, I'm a true noob in chess and I'm just trying to ask, if it's unclear I can explain again
replying 3 years later but if bishop goes to 5, then knight takes, rook recaptures, then whites rook takes, and queen cannot recapture b/c it must defend c2
I was sure the answer to "White has one move that defends all those moves... Bueller... Bueller..." was resigns.
At 39:48 what about Qxa4? That would save all the three threats, although White would still be in a losing position...
I learned a lot from watching this video except for one thing; I didn't learn anything from watching this video
The truth hurts!
40:18 How about Qxa4 instead of Qf5? That does all the same things and prevents the knight fork.
Then knight captures on f4 and you cannot recapture because of Qc2
@@anuragbundela1483 Qxa4 Nxf4 Rxa5 lol

Master Finegold, you're the man. Also, your background to these videos is suspicious. You've gotta liven things up there.
Wait, is this a reupload?
Yeah i think so
Yep i was thinking same and that queen e8 move make me sure.
His witch doctor made me sure.
I wasn't sure if he liked making the same jokes at first, but the zoidberg discussion made me sure
th-cam.com/video/poCsTby2mQc/w-d-xo.html here's the original
does anyone know the name of the tune / pianist of the intro music?
12:38 "cuz you can't to Viswa-nothing" lol wow
08:54 Obviously I don't want 'my rook on the same line as his queen'! The opponent has the rook, Ben has the Queen lol
I can't tell if i like his humor or not but i keep watching hoping it'll get better
“bishop a6?” correct
“yay -_-”
@6:30 what is he saying about the typo in the book, I didn't get it?
He's saying he knew in that position the move that was commonly played was Qc7, so he thought the diagram with Qe8 was a typo, till he found out it was a different way of playing the same position
Where's the mate for Black at 14:06? Qc2 no longer works as the Knight has been captured and the rooks are blocked.
thanks to TH-cam, it's the second time I watched this video.
The fact that aronian actually beat karjakin yesterday - in a Berlin is really amusing to me XD
46:00
Finegold's jokes are priceless. White has a strong attack, except for one thing. There's no attack.
Sorry, I'm new to chess but why couldn't Caden move white pawn to F5 when in check?
This looks like a stand-up comedy routine
