Hope you enjoyed riding this beast! I own the previous model for almost two years. As a one bike do it all. Still not bored like i was with other bikes. Put in 30 k effortlessly no problems what so ever! A powerful piece of machinery 💪
I have one of these and concur with your comments on it. If I had to choose one word to describe it, it would be "Versatile". I live in the PNW in the Cascade Mountains and this bike handles any road you ride it on from smooth to rough with the wonderful suspension adjustments available. It's very windy at times here and this is the first bike of the ones I've had that is not affected by high winds. Sure, your body fights the wind, but you're not fighting the bike also. Everything you ask it to do, it does in a confidence inspiring manner. The beast of a motor is one adrenaline rush after another. I'm left feeling, what did I do to deserve this.
Kate, thank you for the review. You might be the first reviewer that actually shows how easy it is to move this motorcycle around. I have a '22 1290 SAS and the low-speed balance is very good and reassuring when on a gravel/dirt road with off-camber turns (living in the Ozarks we have many uphill and downhill off-camber roads). The suspension is really amazing. The first motorcycle I've owned where I don't see a need to 'improve' the suspension.
When people moan about seat heights and not being able to get their feet flat on the floor etc… Then I see you at 5ft4 with a 29” inside leg saying this bike is perfectly manageable! 👍🏻 Kudos Kate for saying it like it is!
Cracking video Kate🙏👏👏👏👌. So very well done despite the weather really appreciate you taking the bike out in autumnal conditions. Definitely looking forward to further explanation of mode this beast has. Well done with getting this video together your a trooper 😉 🥰👍👏👏👏👏
Excellent video as always! I really like these, and a friend has one of the last model which is why I can't quite pull that trigger and get one, he really baby's that bike to the point that I leave him behind on my F900xr, really! He has no end of issues with it, I think it's on it's 3rd shock and 2nd fuel pump.. Also the dealer who services it has f-ed up the brake fluid change twice now so at random the front brake fails when an air bubble finds the ABS pump... My own former SuperDuke GT (2016) had serious electrical problems just out of warranty. The dealer wanted to throw a complete wiring loom at it as a first step to fixing it, at my cost with no promise of that actually fixing the problem, KTM were not offering any help at all. I just want a reliable bike with some power, I was happy on my little XR until I took a R1250GS for a day around North Yorkshire keeping a friend company as he tested the mk1 S1000XR, he bought the XR and I think I need the torque of the GS in my life.
I have a 2019 Super Adventure S. It is amazing bike. It handles great, is smooth riding, quick shifter is fantastic, and the power is addicting, but manageable. It is shocking how good the gas mileage is with big engine; that's a big plus. The looks of the bike have grown on me and I get excited everytime I see it.
I bought a 2022, great bike, love it. 1500 km now. The screen is awesome and easy to read for an older person. Its a rocket. Has a lot of tech. Still reading the manual, lol. Just learned to use the cruise with active feature. Dont have to avoid potholes with this bike. Thanks for the review!

Hi Kate - ta for suffering on our behalf through filthy roads and wet leaves ! Hear nothing but good about the 1290 Super Adventure though the chunky front end / panels put me off a bit. That said, if I was given any bike for use in those conditions instead of mine, that bike would be awesome 😉😁...not jealous. At all. Nope...
Great review and wait for more reports on your KTM. Having has several GSs and GSAs, I've just switched to one of these. Fantastic performance and handling. Delighted with mine
Very impressive machine. The power in full-on mode would be a real world thrill. Kate, you handled that big powerful beast extremely well in the slippery conditions. It's plain for all to see that you are a very experienced rider too you with your comment about staying off the front brake in wet conditions with damp leaves on the road. Well done Kate.
Hi Kate. I like the way you do all the reviews and vids. I'm riding a BMW R 1250 GS Rallye, and i would'nt give it away for the next years. And thanks for your lovely greetings at the end.....auf Wiedersehen!!❤😎
Gee's Louise Kate you really earned your money today. It's tough being a bike journo in the UK the weather is pretty ordinary. Good job Kate take care.
The 1290 SAS 2020 was my first bike, after half a year training on a 125 small one. What should I say, I've done more than 40.000 km (once around the world) in one year and three months, and I've loved each moment. Are there other bikes in the world? I've tried a GS 1250, perfect, but to perfect for me, I like a bit of work on my bike ... Thanks for the great video.
Kate do you use Rain-X or any other water dispersants on your visor for the UK liquid sun shine? Is that KTM a high maintenance bike like I’ve heard other KTMs are? The cruise control system sounds cool may be worth the moo look.
@@expatbiker6598 That's good advice! A young friend has just bought his first bike; a Kawasaki Ninja 400cc. He's done his CBT and is waiting for the next assessment before he can legally ride it on the road. I said to him I'll ride the NC500 next year if he's up to it. 😬
Nice one Kate, no one could ever acuse you of being a fair weather motorcyclist 😂😂.Hope your channel keeps growing, your fun to listen too, love your outlook on not being phased by the size of the bike😂👍Respect ❤️🙏🏍🇸🇪
Cracking vid. People say the after service is poor though, puts me off. Anyway, which is the video where you bump into some lads on bikes sort of randomly and go for a ride with them. It’s like a girl power video, you overtake them all basically. Keep wanting to show others it at work but can’t find it! Keep up the good work.

Hi Kate, loving your vids and so brave tackling that awful weather. I've also been suffering from heart palpitations recently and was recommended to take magnesium 375mg one per day. These have helped enormously and the skipping heart beats have almost disappeared. Ride safe and stay upright ❤️
I noticed Kate mention in the Sinnis offroading video that she suffered from cramps and wondered if she was deficient in magnesium. I'm 41 and have also been suffering with heart palpitations earlier in the year and since taking nearly 400mg of magnesium daily, they have all but disappeared. Hopefully she reads this as from what I've read, magnesium deficiency is prevalent in almost everyone with our modern Western diet.
Nice review and video! Owner of a 2019 (previous model) and have done around 55.000 kilometers with it over two seasons. Had a BMW 1200GSA prior to the Orange and put almost the same mileage on the "cow". Comparing them is almost impossible. It's an apples and oranges situation. I like both, the beemer definitely more comfy and less vibey at low speeds. That took a bit to get used to. I added a Boosterplug (highly recommended) to make it run better at low speeds. That also improved fuel consumption. No such mods for the new one (at least not yet). Mine easily does 4.4-4.6 liters/100km. I've ridden the new and it is more thirsty than mine (plus some kgs heavier, probably down to the massive Euro 5 exhaust :). Apart from one single niggle (had several with my beemer in the same time period) the orange has been faultless. The niggle is/was related to the starter clutch or starter torque limiter. Replaced under warranty. Some claim it's down to a washer in the mechanism. Changed on the new model (AFAIK). Those who consider the previous, check if the the torque limiter has been replaced. The issue pertains on both the SD and the SA. But it might take some 1000s of kms/miles before it happens. Cheers :)

Another nice bike Kate! Personally I don't mind the chain drive since I have discovered ScottOilers. I put one on my Africa Twin and it is a game changer for chain drive bikes. I am finding greatly increased chain and sprocket life and less regular maintenance of a chain by far from not having one and using a chain wax that I did on my DR650.
Great especially like busted my phobia about an adventure bike being to big ,, glad to see and hear about ladies riding bikes,,big and small,, might just bring more people to riding,,, what we need 👍☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️ from northern Ireland 😁
I've had my 2021 model for about a year and a half now. Most of my bikes since the 70s have been cutting edge four cylinder Japanese performance bikes so the adventure segment is new and different to me. I bought my KTM after moving to Spain from the US, choosing it as a reasonable compromise between performance and the capability to follow some gravel/dirt roads. I have mixed feelings about the KTM. One day its a lot of fun and loaded with great tech and another day the little things annoy me. For example the high beam switch is too easily hit with my winter gloves on, I don't care for the vibration level at expressway speeds and the gearing feels too short to me. But I guess those are just nits. The KTM mades decent power, handles well and I like how they gave it a light feel for a large bike. Overall the KTM is a pretty good bike and I have done a bit of work to personalize mine.
I tested the SA 1290 but went for the Multistrada 1260….the KTM engine is a belter and more user friendly than the MS, but for me the MS had the additional X factor.
Geez that was a rough one, the weather being very unfriendly, in them jeans, you must have gotten soaked !? Leather doesn't like rain either. I have so often wondered what that paticular bike was like. Having seen a couple of folks giving details, the need for more info becomes greater. I have read the spec was 176 b.h.p. but maybe there are different specs or models change. Either way it would probably see my Blackbird off. Am 74yrs, so no excuses other than growing old disgracefully :) Looking forward to more.
Your video's are really good Could you do a review on the Ducati desert X,. And Harley Davidson pan america do the dealers let you have them as press bikes for the reviews you do.
Nice review cheers Kate 😊 I have a multi 2016 but considering changing it for either the ktm or GS. What’s the screen & weather protection like compared to the GS?
Hi Kate, been waiting a long time for this review. Hope so see more of it, it is a great bike. I only enjoyed it on Sport Mode, other modes mehhh, unless is Rain which is very useful. Definately a Gas Guzzler on Sport Mode....
YOU - Bloody Windy, awful road, hate autumn...ME in the USA - Cute Girl, Gorgeous English countryside, fun windy road, courteous English drivers. Can't wait to get back to England. Love your motorcycle reviews with added bonus of travel views.
Drove a new 2020 1290 SA S for a day and compared to my '19 1290 SD GT, it felt chunkier, rougher, and more agricultural. The levers and controls seemed heavier and required more travel (granted -maybe needed adjusting) and drivers seat view of windshield, fairing, and dash controls, unrefined. The SD GT to me, felt more upscale. Both bikes however put out way too much heat from the 1290 engine on day temps over 25 Celsius. Main reason I sold mine. Great review! Thx!
Been hoping you would test a 1290 S, and it was worth it. What a bike ! Love the headlight, it reminds me of a church window for some reason I can't pin down. Yes the exhaust is the size of a small caravan but that's the price of Euro 5 compliance. Can't wait to watch your further vids on it. So come on, if you didn't already own a GS, which would you choose ???
A bientôt. Bruno
Hi Kate, you rain magnate you, the KTM, what can I say undoubtedly a brilliant bike, it's definitely a Marmite bike though and for me I just can't get on with the styling but for the people who love them what a machine. Hopefully we will get to see you in the dry ha-ha. Thank you.
Looked like a good day out & about. Woke up to snow here and town over was mostly clear with a high of 20 degrees F. You know autumn, but call it fall, because of falling leaves & snow. No water proof britches on the ride? Later Kate.
Good review Kate, always surprised by insurance quotes (Tim Rodie I think recently said he paid £1200) must be down to location as living in rural Scotland I only paid about £120 for my GS. I am twice your age have a lot more experience and am a member of several advanced rider associations having passed their tests but think it is more likely just down to location.
I test rode one of these last year but still bought a GS. But that’s because 80% of my riding is 2 up and for comfort touring the GS is the better option I think. That said, if it was just me, id have gone for the SA. Hell of bike.
Hi Kate riding the KTM 1290 Super Adventure is it for UK roads in the autumn or winter ? I,m not sure , somewhere warmer but well done. Saw you on Henry Cole,s programme exciting times ahead.🤣
Looking forward to the next vlog on this bad boy ! Don't mind it's looks, all the adventure bikes' looks are an acquired taste, purposeful, but not beautiful 🤔
Funny you said it looks like a orange and black cow as my 1st thought of the thumbnail was it represented a large bull when compared to you standing next to it
Is It a bit windy by any chance Kate 😤Great bike had the previous model then went to a GS but had to go back to the new model had it for 6 months now and i love it best all round bike ever in my humble opinion
The exhaust looks like it weighs as much as the bike, apart from that sexy bike. I am currently deciding between it and the Africa twin for my next bike or even the new hayabusa
Kate you live in the North - no such thing as bad weather just inappropriate clothing. I would never go out without wearing my Winter waterproof gear. He he he 😂
I don't want to say you're wrong, but I really think it has heated grips! These bikes always do but you have the controls for it in the TFT menu 😉 The fuel tank also is split in three separate tanks to get a lower center of gravity 🙂
Respectfully I will say you're wrong because it definitely didn't ;) I had the spec from KTM of this particular bike and also got very familiar with the TFT after 3 weeks, it wasn't selectable.
@@UsernameKate Really strange! I guess it has to be with different markets, in Sweden I don't think it's sold without. Actually we have the same climate in Gothenburg as in mid UK so it should be standard there 😉

Great review Kate👏🏼
Ktm dragon roaring you hooking like any thing enjoy kate 🎉🎉🎉🎉
Nearly bought one in the summer, nice bike your braver than me out in that weather :)
Your video's are really good
Could you do a review on the Ducati desert X,. And Harley Davidson pan america do the dealers let you have them as press bikes for the reviews you do.
The front looks like a huge insect of some type... not the prettiest bike but very well equipped and appears to be great value for money.
Thx!
It's 2021 bike , completely new model
Thank you.
Great looking bike, beautiful looking rider 😎
It is one of the best adventure cycles to ride
Hope you are ok after the s1000rr on track in Spain.
Best wishes stuart ❤
Cool Kate always enthusiastic 👍
Looked like a good day out & about. Woke up to snow here and town over was mostly clear with a high of 20 degrees F.
You know autumn, but call it fall, because of falling leaves & snow. No water proof britches on the ride? Later Kate.
great video
The beast 👌👌👍👍
Good review Kate, always surprised by insurance quotes (Tim Rodie I think recently said he paid £1200) must be down to location as living in rural Scotland I only paid about £120 for my GS. I am twice your age have a lot more experience and am a member of several advanced rider associations having passed their tests but think it is more likely just down to location.
I test rode one of these last year but still bought a GS. But that’s because 80% of my riding is 2 up and for comfort touring the GS is the better option I think. That said, if it was just me, id have gone for the SA. Hell of bike.
Did I hear that correctly? You don’t get heated grips as standard on a 15k adventure tourer???
Rain/Wet weather! You should have a rucksack with over trousers in! Lol 🤣.
Looks like and updated Valadero to me, although I'm sure it's ace!
Funny you said it looks like a orange and black cow as my 1st thought of the thumbnail was it represented a large bull when compared to you standing next to it
You make me laugh crocodile. Damp lady parts indeed. Good video.
Oh lord, I forgot I kept that in 🤣😅
Great review Kate 👍🏻
I'd love to put the KTM 1290 engine in my Triumph Scrambler 1200.... Then it would be beauty and the beast as one 😂😁
Great review 🙂 thank you
Whoopwhoop❤️🔥💪
Is It a bit windy by any chance Kate 😤Great bike had the previous model then went to a GS but had to go back to the new model had it for 6 months now and i love it best all round bike ever in my humble opinion
so interesting, impressed me maybe switch my HONDA TO KTM 1290
Someone owes you a Hot Chocolate for facing that blustery, rainy weather, to get us a review of that bike.
Great video. All KTM headlights look like the eyes from Spider-Man…. I could never own one as looks are important.
The exhaust looks like it weighs as much as the bike, apart from that sexy bike. I am currently deciding between it and the Africa twin for my next bike or even the new hayabusa
What a beast love it
I was interested in this one and the gt but dealers are rare and small here so the only thing you will find are the dirt bikes
Kate that ktm 1290 super adventure is bigger than you lol x are you goning to the NEC this year because im going tomorrow 😌
Kate you live in the North - no such thing as bad weather just inappropriate clothing. I would never go out without wearing my Winter waterproof gear. He he he 😂
I don't want to say you're wrong, but I really think it has heated grips! These bikes always do but you have the controls for it in the TFT menu 😉
The fuel tank also is split in three separate tanks to get a lower center of gravity 🙂
Actually we have the same climate in Gothenburg as in mid UK so it should be standard there 😉
It really should be standard I agree! It's just cruel haha
Hot take: I love autumn.
I love that you love autumn 🍂
Got your thermals on kate!
