Can I say , I’m sure of all the thousands of TH-cam videos I’ve every watched you are simply the best , your filming quality is epic , your photography is second to any professional photographer full stop , your choice of background music is just simply perfect. You can put together and amazing documentary. Well done and please keep it going . Carl uk 🇬🇧
Thank you! Just got '24 1290 SAS and have been learning all about it. You have produced a very concise and practical guide that is much better than any I've watched so far.
I do use rally mode with street throttle. I don't see a need for sport/rally throttle at all for longer riding, its too twitchy :) I do also use 6 mode, it allows to wheelies and skids on pavement, while 7th limits too much. I don't see a need to use anything less than 6 on pavement, only on dirt it could be limiting a bit.
One good thing about fork dive is that the brakes make the fork shorter, reducing trail for quicker turn in while trail braking. That said, I'm still on an analog suspension bike (Tiger Sport 1050) and haven't ridden the SAS yet
the important thing is to keep the spirit going, I always pray that I will be healthy, always happy, stay focused on positive thinking that is done every day
hello, good morning 🌻 Kate, although my bike is 17 years old, it has electric suspension but I don't change it, it works fine 👍 in normal mode I don't need sports or soft ok 👌 best regards
I leave the anti-dive on all the time. It works quite well. The suspension modes really are effective. Comfort is great for long-distance riding...she just floats over frost heaves and expansion joints. Auto mode is actually my second most used mode. That mode is great if the road is mixed long straights with curves. I could go on. Great vid!!
Anti dive is cool, but a bit unpredictable when riding really, really fast. Now, what I do to prevent the dive when I brake heavily, is to set the suspension to something hard, like Sport or Advanced with stiff settings; if I'm not riding fast, I don't really care about the suspension diving or I could live with a softest settings and the antidive on. I find auto really lacking specially because it tends to go into the softer realm and its really unpredictable. Not my cup of tea. One thing they could have really added is automatic preload... but I guess the small motor that winds up the spring isn't fast enough for that!
Thanks for demonstration Kate. I guess it's nice to have options like anti dive, (couple of my 80s bikes dabbled with it) but I actually like the dive from the bike, it's like an old friend. 😊
Too many options 😱 I just took my Kawasaki Ninja 1000SX to a very clever man who changed the shock spring to one suitable for a fat git like me, then set the fork damping. It was amazing. Now I leave it alone and just enjoy the riding.
All that time at the dealership sure gave you a heads-up on suspension settings Kate. Glad you had a good day out and got to "swing it around" even with a livestock intermission.
Bruno
Hi Kate, I've recently found your channel and enjoy it, I was wondering (as you normally ride big thumpers) if you would like to ride an 80's 2 stroke, no traction control, no touch screen, no abs and having to work for your power. If you would like to try what us geriatric bikers grew up with, I will lend you my NS400r. She's a bit scabby and not pretty, but she's mechanically sound and may give you a whole new audience. Oh and by the way, your German trip gave me PTSD for when I used to ride in the winter, you know its gona happen, you just don't know when. oh by the way your boyfriend/Husband on that German trip was a legend.
Good stuff Kate! Overheard someone only today commenting on one of these saying it was too tall for them to even think about trying! Wish I'd seen your video first I couldve educated him on a) no it isn't and b) even if it is, you can adjust the suspension down :D
I always find it funny when KTM keep adding features to the electronic system. When we all know that’s KTM’s 1250 electronics are made from Hopes & Wishes 😂
Had mine since 2021. Super bike in disguise. I haven't bought the tech packs. I got quick shifter and heated grips. Waiting on someone to do a hack for the packs 🤣
How much does suspension drop in “low” mode? 800mm inseam and low ergo seat drops 10mm below 849 to 839mm. Is that low mode capable of being assigned to one of the custom buttons so as to “imitate” adaptive ride height? Like for around town and high mode as normal road mode for highways?
More modes than my mobile. My bike suspension just has two modes "Fixed" and "Leaking"... lol... at least i got the stuff off rear wheel now so im no longer drifting corners.
i was very interested in this bike but i jsut seen too many reliability problems, plus i dont like the way KTM add everything on and take it away if you dont pay for it. a bike that price should have everything as standard
i said this a year ago (when you were on about giving up a full time job to make youtube videos). i said dont do it because the never ending demand for content (the demand you placed upon yourself) will quickly run dry of legitimate quality ideas for filming and here we are no less than a year later with a half hour edit of literally ONE aspect of a bike electric package.... i lasted five minutes before i realised this video was going nowhere

I’d literally pay money to have a ride with this lady and her little community. And to hear her talk in person. How awesome that would be.
Always keep a record of what you adjusted, and what/how it felt.
Makes climbing back out the rabbit hole a lot easier.
There is no rabbit hole on this suspension
Awesome Video, Beautiful KTM 1290 Super Adventure R
the 1290 engine is just something else
It’s the ‘S’, not the ‘R’.

Had my SAS 6 months now, thought I’d try the rally mode with the throttle response set in rally! Jesus H Christ..that is scary!! Give that a go.👍🏻

Hey Erica, good point. I'm just so used to riding on a cloud with my GS 🤣
This is the most thorough, best review I’ve ever seen! Excellent job Kate. Thank you

Great vid beast of a bike ,on Sunday i rode 20 miles on a mtb i love it's so nice getting outdoors

The rabbit hole that is suspension wizardry 😁
Nice bit of scenery too.
Bought my 1290 SAS in November, still running it in and not done many kms yet but looking forward to this seasons riding!...

Great video… any plans to test ride the new tracer 9GT plus?

Kate the tech these days on motorcycles is mad 🤪

Great vid Kate!

Also that area you were riding in when you went past the horse farm, thats where i normally end up if im staying local, white coppice is up there
Are 1290s 2017 mOdel have this setting
Kate what would you choose if money was no object the GS1250 or KTM1290?
If money was no object, buy them both, and then when the ktm breaks down, and its in the shop you have a gs
I own a ktm, so I'm not bashing 😂
@@fizzhogg23 just telling the truth then🤓
Tried one on a test ride , as a short rider found it really easy to ride. As a GS owner would you buy one
It took me half a day yesterday to set up a new phone! Lol. I'd have no bloody chance with the settings on your ktm. 😁.
Iv got the reg of the car SUHY9 silver car
Think I see 50k subscribers at the horizon 😎☺️…
