I will never understand how BTM is able to create fresh content based around these ‘old’ movies and still manage to tell us something new that we didn’t know
I think this deleted scene should have been included. It gives Tatum more character development and gives insight into her and Stu's love life. Which makes his betrayal even more shocking.
Yea the mention of "there's not enough time to think" implies he climaxes quickly or does it prematurely, which could leave a person feel frustrated. So hearing her talk about needing to think of someone else, even a fictional someone, could make him upset because I'm sure he'd be insecure about not lasting very long.
Tatum’s role in Scream 1 is actually bigger than Dewey and Gale’s almost like she’s the secondary protagonist and this scene further shows that. It’s also a good way to make you think she’s safe and they will kill off Gale and Dewey who are more like side characters in the first film only to be surprised Tatum is the first one in the cast to bite it in the main cast. I was genuinely shocked to know she was the first to go in the third act when watching it first time.

I feel robbed! Rose was sooooo incredible in this role! Wish the character Tatum had much more screen time! In the other note had she had more screen time we might’ve seen the “Helen” effect like “I know what you did last summer”. If these type of strong characters who are supposed to die stand out more strongly than the “Innocent, virginal good girl” everyone would root for the stronger character than the main final girl.
I don’t know I think Tatum should of lived anyway just bc Sidney could of bounce of somebody more while Gale and Dewey had their time. Tatum boyfriend the killer the first victim Casey he broke up with her for Tatum she has Randy aspects where she points out tropes particularly female ones which are more realistic and less on the nose than Randy in the first movie. I think the Helen effect would of been fine as Sidney a very strong character with a great arc plus she’s survived a bunch of horror movies I do think her and Tatum surviving could of been better as she would be a amazing supporting character for Sidney and could deal with her trust issues differently but I think they learned this as Tara and Sam bounce off each other. I think Helen and Tatum should of survived anyway but I can accept Tatum death as they had 4 survivors someone had to die I hope this scene get added back in the film as it add more to their friendship. Kevin arguably created a horror movie trope of the best friend with Helen and Tatum which he subverted in sick 2022 as both the final girl and best friend get to fight together and live.
Rose McGowan brought so much life to this character that could have easily got lost in thr mix if it was a different actress. I love that they are still throwing back to that green turtle neck in the latest movie. Praying Rose will come back to acting.
This just unlocked a memory for me, as soon as you started reading it I remembered the trolly outside the shop, Tatum giving a speech and even singing a little jingle. I even remember thinking it was Dewey because he showed up, then it showed Ghostface and my brother was like "no the killers there" There had to have been a version with this scene in!!

I've been frantically looking online but I can't find the scene itself, just other people talking about it, a few mentioned that the scene ended differently though, (ghost face doesn't stop the cart, it hits a bin with the mask in it) now I'm questioning everything 😭😂

I love the Halloween comparison! Immediately when you read the scene of Dewey scaring Sid accidentally when closing the back door, I instantly thought of Laurie being startled by Annie’s dad, Sheriff Brackett: “It’s Halloween: Everyone’s entitled to one good scare.” Surely another Halloween/Laurie/Annie nod.
The Ghostface in the grocery store scene never made sense to me. Like did Billy or Stu walk in the grocery store in the middle of the day in the Ghostface costume? Did they walk in in regular clothes and then change into the costume in the bathroom? Were there no other people in the grocery store that saw the Ghostface and were like wtf?
This scene should have been kept in the movie, it holds so much context to the "tits see" scene and it nearly had Tatum encounter GF a scene before act lll. It would have been interesting to see how that panned out. You also make a good point about how it mirrors the scene from Halloween. Good job bud 👍.

Over the years, whenever I've watched the original Scream, Tatum always reminded me of someone but I could never pinpoint who it was. You're 100% right! Totally Annie-esque similarities. What made Scream the perfect horror movie was that it took so much inspiration from the classics. Most notably Psycho and Halloween 🎃

It’d be so cool if they released an extended cut of Scream (1996) with this scene and others in. I could see it being done for a special occasion like the 30th year anniversary in 2026.
It wasn’t pointless, but if I remember what someone said that producers felt like they need to get to gore/horror faster. Himbery’s character was just offed and then melodrama, yet there was another deleted event after the video store that gave everything away. If you have the script you know what I’m talking about. Yes, it would been nice to see more of their friendship so when she is offed we felt for her and Sidney like Wes would’ve wanted.
I enjoyed the reading of the scene and think that it should've been kept in the movie it would've added more context to the movie. I also feel that Ghostface grabbing the shopping cart bringing it to a stop as he looks on at Sidney, Tatum, and Dewey would've made an iconic moment and come across as chilling. Hopefully, Scream 7 will have something like that borrowed from the original script.

I'm going to say something controversial...this scene should've replaced the video shop scene, mostly notably Billy confronting Randy. It gave Billy and Stu away. So yeah this scene should happen and be included.
I think there was not enough of her to make an emotional attachment when she died, it is not because Rose played Tatum wrong we just did not get enough of the friendship and her personally, it's a real shame. One final note, after she dies Dewy and so many others just treat her like another body, not his sister, another missed opportunity I think. I want to say without question I am not upset or bothered at all about the acting of these people, I believe they did a great job but the script needed more is what I'm saying.
The raw script dialog, I don’t like. However, I feel that between Rose and Wes, they would have come up with something together that was more in line with her character and it would have been perfect.
That's the only way it would make sense because Billy was a suspect. If Stu was discovered, he could play it off as a prank like the kids at school and people would expect that from someone like Stu. Even still, I think those scenes seem way out of place considering how planned out and scheduled everything was but it would make less sense for Billy to be the one to take that risk of being discovered.
Would love if that part had stayed in, it would have made the grocery scene better. Always thought there had to be more with the ghost face that was following them then.
According to the trilogy rules, the 3rd movie has to go back and reveal something we didn’t know. What if the supermarket Ghostface & Roman’s secret partner from Scream 3, turn out to be Sam and Tara’s mom. It’d be cool to see them recreate this scene with Neve and Rose, using deaging technology. It’s not necessary but could be a cool way to tie a Scream 7 back to the beginning

Having a close encounter would of been so cool and creepy knowing she died later that day they had that with Helen with ikwydls the killer creeps in her room and cuts her hair later she was murdered you saw Helen life here you see Tatum love and points Tatum such a cool character and you really could see her surviving and being just as influential a final girl as Sidney as Stu was a killer to she a sister to Dewey would dislike Gale due to her writing Dewey harsh and Scream 3 I can imagine her meeting Grant Goodeve 😂 that would of been hilarious and she has the Randy traits to point out horror and movie tropes anyway so she could of been that character a extremely likeable presence honestly watching it I think Randy should of died Tatum a much more interesting character and way more closer to Sidney and the events of the ghostface killings Stu killed Casey bc she broke up with so he dated Tatum or he broke with her for Tatum her and Sidney could of lived scream series Sidney not had someone to bounce off of and develop a relationship with Gale she hardly has scenes with Gale and Dewey were each other storyline so Scream 2 could of had Gale and Dewey and Tatum with Sidney both works just like ikwydls Helen should of lived the best friend dying to make you sad for the final girl waste the potential to develop a strong character for sequels. #RipTatum and #JusticeforHelen the best friends that deserved more from their franchises Tatum the first person to ever name ghostface!!
The actor Grant Goodeve is a very conservative Christian in real life, who might not have appreciated a horror movie that included dialogue speculating that the TV theme song he wrote was actually about his penis. So it's possible that they cut that dialogue to avoid getting sued. I'm not sure I miss it, because it strikes me as a relatively talky bit of dialogue that would have slowed down the movie. I could have used more shots of Ghost Face stalking Sidney and Tatum, though. Maybe something to make that reflection of Ghost Face's mask more visible on first viewing?
Although I love Tatum, I can see why they cut the scene. it's essentially a long monologue with no point to the overall story. This scene always seemed a bit oddly placed for me, but maybe because it was like half of the actual scene. Makes sense now.
In honesty maybe at the time it was ahead of its time but now it'd be appreciated. I also could do with it being shortened and/or rewritten to make more entertaining but we definitely needed a samll pre-kill scene like for Tatum to give an even bigger impression.

I don’t think Dewey knew his sister was dead, there’s no indication that he was anywhere near the garage

That's the only way it would make sense because Billy was a suspect. If Stu was discovered, he could play it off as a prank like the kids at school and people would expect that from someone like Stu.
Even still, I think those scenes seem way out of place considering how planned out and scheduled everything was but it would make less sense for Billy to be the one to take that risk of being discovered.

It wasn’t exactly ahead of its time. Shows like Friends, 90210, or Melrose Place, I think. Made the same kind of assessment. Before Scream did.

According to the trilogy rules, the 3rd movie has to go back and reveal something we didn’t know. What if the supermarket Ghostface & Roman’s secret partner from Scream 3, turn out to be Sam and Tara’s mom. It’d be cool to see them recreate this scene with Neve and Rose, using deaging technology. It’s not necessary but could be a cool way to tie a Scream 7 back to the beginning

Having a close encounter would of been so cool and creepy knowing she died later that day they had that with Helen with ikwydls the killer creeps in her room and cuts her hair later she was murdered you saw Helen life here you see Tatum love and points Tatum such a cool character and you really could see her surviving and being just as influential a final girl as Sidney as Stu was a killer to she a sister to Dewey would dislike Gale due to her writing Dewey harsh and Scream 3 I can imagine her meeting Grant Goodeve 😂 that would of been hilarious and she has the Randy traits to point out horror and movie tropes anyway so she could of been that character a extremely likeable presence honestly watching it I think Randy should of died Tatum a much more interesting character and way more closer to Sidney and the events of the ghostface killings Stu killed Casey bc she broke up with so he dated Tatum or he broke with her for Tatum her and Sidney could of lived scream series Sidney not had someone to bounce off of and develop a relationship with Gale she hardly has scenes with Gale and Dewey were each other storyline so Scream 2 could of had Gale and Dewey and Tatum with Sidney both works just like ikwydls Helen should of lived the best friend dying to make you sad for the final girl waste the potential to develop a strong character for sequels. #RipTatum and #JusticeforHelen the best friends that deserved more from their franchises Tatum the first person to ever name ghostface!!

I’ve always noticed she had a picture of Grant Goodeve on her bedroom wall.
The actor Grant Goodeve is a very conservative Christian in real life, who might not have appreciated a horror movie that included dialogue speculating that the TV theme song he wrote was actually about his penis. So it's possible that they cut that dialogue to avoid getting sued. I'm not sure I miss it, because it strikes me as a relatively talky bit of dialogue that would have slowed down the movie. I could have used more shots of Ghost Face stalking Sidney and Tatum, though. Maybe something to make that reflection of Ghost Face's mask more visible on first viewing?
And Halloween is the movie they watch at the party in Scream

Although I love Tatum, I can see why they cut the scene. it's essentially a long monologue with no point to the overall story. This scene always seemed a bit oddly placed for me, but maybe because it was like half of the actual scene. Makes sense now.
In honesty maybe at the time it was ahead of its time but now it'd be appreciated. I also could do with it being shortened and/or rewritten to make more entertaining but we definitely needed a samll pre-kill scene like for Tatum to give an even bigger impression.
Rose was acting her Roseussy off in that movie. I wish we got more of her.

It's funny though that this monologue and Tatum knowing you can see Tom Cruise's penis in "All the Right Moves" was really because she was a mouthpiece for Kevin Williamson.
