The NBC game of the week on Saturday and Monday night baseball were my only chance to watch a game in the late 60's through the 80's. When NBC started having a double header on Saturday I was ecstatic.

Bob Costas is more than qualified . If they put Manfred in, Bob surely could have done the job and million times better.
Bob’s answers to Manfred can’t be more diplomatic, the sport with the longest season for one hasn’t grew at the rate of other lower-budgeted sports and if you take Japan out it’s int’l has bottomed. He even spoke on how it’s no longer the National pastime prev. Yes he currently works for the network.
Bob’s comments and ideas here prove he’s ready and qualified to be commissioner!

Costas is qualified. But the owners would never let it happen. He isn't deep in bed with the owners. They just need an echo chamber sycophant.
Why would you put in the title a reference to changing the playoffs then stop him from answering? He answered it in a LA times article. He says the #2 & #3 wild card play one game then the winner goes to play one game against the #1 wild card making division winners excluded from the wild card round. I like current format better than his suggestions....My change would be to reduce the regular season slightly and make the division series best of 7.

Bob was my idol until he started weighing in with his radical left "observations " on politics throwing others that don't view u.s politics as he sees them as "cults" and other derogatory statements. That's what ultimately happens to some when they have enough FU money that they don't care about attacking half their fans. He was not as smart as I thought. Stick to sports Bob.

Bob is delusional if he thinks MLB isn't behind the NBA if you poll adults under the age of 35 the NBA's excitement level , enthusiasm and recognition of players is leaps beyond that of MLB. The ratings as bad as they are for the NBA it rarely dips under a million per game while the MLB struggles to get half a million most nights. the NBA are about to get a new tv rights deal worth at least 10 billion from ESPN or NBC or Amazon those networks would never offer MLB that because it's not a draw like the NBA is . I love baseball I will always watch but I'm not blind I see that way less care about the sport compared to NFL and NBA .
MLB is too hyper-focused on regionality. So, fans in Minnesota don't have much interest in Tampa Bay, Texas, or San Francisco. NFL and NBA fans will follow national stories. Fans in Minnesota want to know what is happening with the Lakers or Warriors - or Nuggets.
