Love the LR3 Vids! As an ‘08 LR3 SE V8 owner, the sunroof drains (both sets…front and rear) are critical in making sure the preventative maintenance is taken care of, before it’s too late. Another sort of “short-coming” on these trucks is oddly enough near the front sunroof drains: it’s the A/C drain! Located on the other side of the front footwells, a simple blowing out with compressed air into the A/C r drain tubes always does the trick (I even use canned air for that). Keep the great vids coming! 🤙🏻🤙🏻

All true...There is one more leak issue which actually got LR to issue a bulletin.
Under the exterior A pillar covers is a guide hole and corresponding pin to help
align the cover before pushing it into the push pins. It's near the bottom on both sides. The bulletin instruction is to break off that plastic pin, remove the silly foam strip , which was intended to divert water from that hole, and actually seal
the hole permanently with high quality sealing tape. A simple fix, yes, but I'd plan on replacing the push pins with fresh and less brittle newer ones. These push pins have integral rubber gaskets on them which hopefully seal their respective
holes, but I have my doubts as to the effectiveness of them. Anyway, all these
holes are pathways for water to get into the cabin and raise hell in all sorts of ways. I've said it before and will repeat, water is the enemy...One more note,
Before going the snorkel route I'd consider the potential nightmare of submerging
components and connectors like the suspension compressor under water...I'm pretty sure that in later models they learned to place them up in the cabin's rear for just this reason. Just sayin' Love the ARB front really does improve the look.

To fix the leaking sunroof issue on my daughters Disco and to do it on the cheap we just covered the entire sunroof and extended a 2" border outside the glass with clear paint protection film....we did both sunroofs just to be on the safe side. Nearly invisible to most people and guarantees no water ingress. Pulled the sunroof fuse to avoid it from operating and the fix was good for over 6 years until she sold her Disco. Who needs to open a sunroof when you've got A/C?....lol.

I had the same problem with my 2015 Subaru Outback, the drain tubes were clogged. when I was in US Navy boot camp in San Diego 1985, it did not rain for 9 months, it started raining one day and we all ran out in the rain. The land Rover is more than a vehicle, it's a tool vehicle and you have added to the functions. Great Videos

I’ve had my 2009 D3 for 14 years now and it’s been a brilliant vehicle. I bought it brand new and have maintained it mostly my self. Yes! I’ve had a few problems ( the usual stuff) but tbf owning and driving this vehicle has been worth every penny. Doubt I’ll ever sell it because we’ve had too many adventures together, I couldn’t part with it.

I literally had the same problem as you. Glass everywhere when I purchased my lr3 recently. Another problem I had was who ever replaced the glass didnt align it properly. Wind noise above 60 was horrible and caused water to enter faster overloading the drains and cause spillage. Make sure its aligned properly. I made a guide on the landrover forums on how to align it properly. Also saw some good maintaince tips like using weed wacker wire to unplug drains from leafs here and there.

The first thing and first week I got mine back in 2018, 2006 HSE was to find a reputable independent Land Rover, luckily , I found one in Huntington Beach and they owned LR3s and they pointed out this issue with Sunroof and other known issues. The next week I went to work on the drainage and save my ass $$$ on future problems. So glad you did not succumb to all the comments, owning a LR3 in my case is a true utility vehicle, 7 seating , can go to Sand dunes in Pismo stock, lots of fun.

Awesome upgrades, awesome update video! The front bumper looks the part, and actually compliments the LR3 nicely. Yes, it sounds like it wasn't a simple bolt on install, but honestly #WorthIt - as for the shoddy fix/replacement done on the sunroof...(sigh) you hate to see it. These are shops that don't take pride in their work, they just quickly slap together a fix, charge, and move on to the next car. Glad it's sorted now though! Also, is that an alcantara/suede headliner?! Keep the updates coming, and motor on Jory!

  • @jmount411
    @jmount411 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

I mean I'm sure its a more comfortable ride than a jeep. I drove a jeep TJ everyday for 10 years and loved it. No other vehicle has that feeling to it. Once I became a husband and soon to be father I had to buy a quad cab pickup and the jeep went away. But I beat the everliving nutsacks out of my TJ. Yeah I broke some stuff on it but the beautiful thing about the TJ and YJ is everything is so easy to fix. And if you build your jeep right things really shouldn't go on it besides normal wear and tear unless your abusing it. So many guys lift their non rubicon jeeps and run the stock Dana 35 rear and Dana 30 front axle. Same with the steering components. Upgrading to dana 44s and getting beefier steering components will prevent alot of issues. That's why I tell people to just pony up for the Rubicon and build from there. Storage is terrible in a jeep and they are a deathtrap if you get into a accident with one. I live in New England too so the jeep in the winter was very cold to drive always a draft in that thing. I understand why you went land rover. Plus it's always fun to get something new to play with.

LR3 are pretty solid. I will say what people say has some truth to it. I have had a Disco 2 and RRS L320. Range Rover Sport is mechanically similar to the LR3. The engines are great on these things. Just look out for the Coolant System, and the E brake, and little electronic hiccups. Disco 2 is a WHOLE other situation. But I will say this; I was a Land rover dude for a while then went to jeep, but I go on trials and rock crawling so the mileage will very. Enjoy it man!

You made a good buy. LR3 is probably Land Rover's best vehicle they have ever produced. Uses the 4.4L V8 made by Ford, and does not suffer all of the 5.0L Ford GT V8 issues i.e. timing chain. LR3 has no where near number of computers and failures of the LR4, Freelander, Range Rover.
Sunroof seals are a problem for all LR. Usually the water corrodes the wiring effecting other systems. Keep seals changed and check wiring corrosion.

Word of warning, those tubes will clog and leak if you park outside. Mine had it's brake lines go out and it was right before the covid lockdown so it sat for about 8 months, passenger footwell of the car was pretty flooded. After getting all the water out and shampooing the carpet nothing broke and a simple blowout of the drains with compressed air and it no longer leaks. Other advise service your transmission if it hasn't been done, check the trunk latch actuator that thing is a major pita when it breaks especially if the trunk is full. Lucky for you in CA you don't have the rust issues because the rear brake lines rot out and the shift cable to the trans will seize up both of which are inconvenient. The 4.4 is a good motor, check your coolant system the plastic bits get brittle and break with age, most people who blow motors in these did so by overheating. Welcome to the club these are under appreciated vehicles that often times were somewhat neglected by their prior owners most people who own these have no idea what these cars are capable of with just the Johnson rods and proper tires. I suggest you go over everything the recommended dealer maintenance isn't sufficient by dealer standards your car should be in a junk yard so the service they do is insufficient.
