    for 40 years I couln't save a single goldfish from dropsy. Every one of my goldfish died of dropsy after 6 months and I have to replace them. What have I done wrong ? It will be a mircle if I can save them.

      @@davidrosenfeld9447 I didn't see this comment before! Unfortunately it was too late for that betta, but I learned to catch symptoms early and a year later I'm dealing with dropsy again 😢 it's been 3 days with this treatment and this betta's symptoms are still pronounced but he's eating normally, acting normal too. Hope it works this time.

    this is actually what we needed. I have watched so many videos but not showing the result. thank you sir! and also can you make a video of how to trear bloating goldfish? my fish starts swimming upside down. I even quarantine him for >6 days (feed him every 2 days with gel food) but still bloating

    • @ervinjons
      @ervinjons  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use the same method for bloat.. if bloating happens very often to your fish, i think you need to change your feeding habits and also the food.. try feeding your fish with sinking pellets, enough that the can consume in 15mins.. you can do small frequent feeding than feeding in bollus at once.. you also need to increase aeration as this increases dissolved oxygen.. reduce water current as this gives stress to our fish.. you can message me in fb if u want to discuss more about your fish problems.. :)

    Hi Ervin.. Great video... I am in UK... the weather and water temperature is always changing..last week the weather was minus 10 degrees C ...this week is 15 ! Do i just use the water from my pond for the baths and the hospital tank..Does temperature matter if treatment is carried out in winter or summer as long as the water temp is the same during transfer to baths. .. What about feeding after/during treatment ... first up to 3 days in hospital tank maybe more, then longer in hospital tank. I was told not to feed for up to 8 days during treatment...I never feed my goldfish when it is 10 degrees C or lower Thanks

    1.) Pede ko ba sila pagsamahin sa iisang hospital tank?
    2.) Ano pong mga solutions/medications ang inaadd nyo sa hospital tank?
    3.) Tuwing kelan po dapat iwater change yung hospital tank and how much water po ang dapat ichange
    4.) If need magwaterchange, pano po yung dosage ng mga gamot? Magdadagdag po ba?
    5.) Everyday po ba dapat gawin tong epsom salt bath and meth blue soaking or once lang before ilagay sa hospital tank?
    6.) No feeding po ba while nasa hospital tank
    7.) If pedeng pakainin, ano pong food binibigay nyo habang nasa hospital tank sila?
    Salamat po sir in advance. Sana po matulungan nyo ko.

    hi erwin, how many times did you treat your fish on this with the salt, methylene blue etc? I have a beautiful orange with early stages of dropsy caused by pop eye, I used erythromycin and metroplex for fungus but what im missing is epsom salt. I just however placed him in his own tank today after 7 days of treating the whole tank thinking I should treat the whole tank to protect the other fishes, any response will be appreciated

    I treated my 18-year-old goldfish for dropsy, though I wasn't really 100% sure that was the problem. Maybe the scales did stick out a tiny bit, but they don't now. It is still staying at the bottom of the tank, swims around for a few seconds a few times a day, it does eat, but there definitely is a problem with him. He is currently in a hospital tank, alone. If it ever did have dropsy, it most certainly no longer has it. I've been treating, as you do, with Epsom salt baths and the malachite bath dips. He has also been getting Metroplex and Kanaplex in the water every two days and mixed in with its food.
    What could it be and what else can I do for it? The large tank and hospital tank have no ammonia, nitrite, and very little nitrates, which go down with the weekly partial water change.
    Please help.
    thanks.
    Sarah

      @ervinjons  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I hope im not too late.. in my own humble opinion, adding medicines, especially antibiotics, to fish food is not advisable unless specifically calculated.. doing so may damage the vital organs of our little fishes.. kidney damage shows dropsy manifestations..
      Going back to your concern, it is expected that the fish is still weak if it is in recovery stage.. but if the fish has recovered from dropsy, thats a bit of a problem.. try increasing aeration in your hospital tank.. use vitamins if u have access...

      Heres what i do with my tanks (not on free flowing or drip system):
      I do 25% water change twice or three times a week..
      Scrape the algea if needed to allow sunlight for the fish..
      I never clean tank, change water and clean sump all at the same time to preserve beneficial bacteria in the system.. i usually clean the sump a day or two after water change..
      I give small frequent feeding rather than giving food in bulk..
      Routine.. ;)

    Hi I have been treating my goldfish with dropsy with low dosage Epsom salt (10g 20 gallon) with kanaplex for 2 weeks but not much improvement on bloating or lifted scales. Fish doesn’t seem to have fin rots or other lesions and still active and eating. Is it too late to try the Epsom salt bath now? Also in your video did you end up with more than 1 salt bath/ meth blue in the 10 day period when the fish recovered? Thanks

    • @ervinjons

      As you've seen in my video, my fish has already shown late stage of dropsy, although he's still active and eating.. in my opinion, it's not too late for you to treat your fish. I don’t have access to methylene blue so would you recommend if I put salt in the hospital tank to treat the fin rot? I am doing 100% daily water change. the other meds I have is Melafix and seachem stress guards. Not sure either treats fin rots😟

  • @mopsiecalopsie
    @mopsiecalopsie 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    So the Epsom salt bath is a ratio of 4 tsp Epsom salt to 1 gal. water. What is in the recovery bath and what do you put in the hospital tank. Also, what do you feed the sick fish with? I heard one feeds fish food soaked in a tiny bit of water with 1 scoop of Focus and 1 scoop of Kanaplex, as well as putting 2 scoops of Kanaplex and 2 ml praziquantel in the 10 gal. hospital tank. Does one add more to the tank when making water changes, to the changed water ie. the 50% new water one makes as a daily water change? Thanks so much.

    • @ervinjons
      @ervinjons  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, thats right.. 4tsp of epsom salt in every gallon of wster.. with what im doing, i use clean water, nothing else, for my recovery bath.. then, if needed for skin and fin lesions, i do methylene blue bath.. i use clean water for my hospital tank, nothing else.. with 25% daily water chage..
      Those medications that you've mentioned are antibiotics, if im not mistaken. Im not using antibiotics since it is not an over the counter drug, which needs doctors prescrition, and i am not a vet to know the exaxt amount of dosage to give to the fish..Yes you can use those BUT WITH EXTREME CAUTION.. you need to have the exact amount of medication to give to your fish with the right dosage, right frequency and time.. antibiotics are not single dose.. we dont want the bacteria to develop resistance to medicines and we dont want organ failure due to self medication.. best thing is to consult a vet if you plan to use antibiotic medications..;)

      Epsom salt and aquarium salt are not the same.. epsom salt is magnesium sulfate, used to remedy some skin problems and as a gentle laxative, which is ideal to relieve bloat of our beloved fish.. on the other hand, aquarium salt is basically evaporated sea salt which when added to the tank would result to a better water condition..

      Look for epsom salt (MAGNESIUM SULPHATE).. magnesium sulphate is a natural laxative.. be sure to purchase the unscented as scented ones are used for skin scrub to treat skin diseases..

    Hello. How about the food of the goldfish after the treatment? Is there any preferred food for them while in the hospital tank? How about the water that will be used to the hospital tank? Will that be the same water from the tank the goldfish used to be swimming?

      Nice question..
      What i did:
      1. Gave the same food the fish usually eats..
      2. Put new water to the hospital tank.. replace @ least 25% daily..
