i just noticed that my baby betta Merlin has dropsy. i am absolutely heartbroken and in tears i love him so much. he has the best personality. i’m going strait to petco in the morning as it is too late in the evening to do anything right now. prayers for merlin please and wish me luck.

Really good information. I had 3 0f 20 golden white could develop this disease yet they others were fine and never shed any symptoms. Very weird disease.

He's eating so I'm for sure going to try the product you recommend. All the products I used in the past did nothing. I was so frustrated! So glad I came across this video. I have three bettas die from dropsy so far and like u said, it won't eat. How can I treat them with kanaplex if they won't eat? Yojr the first one to say treat the water. I now have 2 bettas with dropsy so going to treat the water with kanaplex. Hopefully it helps.
I'm currently treating a gorgeous female Betta I have who has dropsy.
I caught it at the pine-coneing stage and have been treating for 2 days.
As you said, do best by the fish. Hope she makes it.

My betta developed dropsy and I followed your direction, purchasing the meds...Unfortunately it had progressed so badly that before they arrived, he'd passed. One day too late. But, he might have passed even if they did get here on time if he was too far gone....anyway, I have a question for you (in case I run into this problem again in the future.)
I've heard from others that, even if you treat dropsy, it will come back.
So, how is the wolf fish now? Was the treatment successful completely or did it come back? Thank you for your time and help.
It has been almost 4 years since I’ve made this video and dropsy has never come back for this fish. He’s still alive and thriving.
I agree with you on trying our best to save the fish. I wish we had Seachem products here, though, but unfortunately we don't. I'm currently treating our female betta fish with dropsy with Melafix, epsom salt, and sometimes methylene blue. Or tannin leaves (Not all at the same time, of course). Idk if they help much but... they are all we can get here. Thanks for your video. I'm glad your wolf fish made it, and hope my betta will have such a happy ending too. :)

Can I use half a scoop of kanaplex for 2 and a half gallons? And once I mix the food how do I get the pellets out of the liquid?
I woke up dismorning and saw my little dude pine coning just his stomach I did order those meds a week ago but still waiting for them to come in the mail. But so far treating sith broad spectrum and Multicure for now.. praying he makes it threw the night.
Can i do this in a tank with other fish in it as i do not have another one?
My poor betta has dropsy at first I thought it was swim bladder disease because he cant swim upright but I recently noticed the pineconing :( he's in a 3 gallon because when I first got him I knew nothing about bettas but hes going in a ten gallon once hes better and once it cycles Im researching everything to help him rn if you can tell me anything to help that would be great!

One died last night. The other has had it for weeks....a big goldfish. I am trying the Epsom salts method. Teaspoons per 10 gallon. He's having trouble staying upright. He made it through the night. I cleaned the tank including gravel and rocks very well and use a good water conditioner.
Hi, I can’t find the kanaplex in any of my local pet stores and don’t have time to order.. I feel lost and panicked so I grabbed some API General Cure medicine and beta fix..I don’t know if this will help but I’m stressing out about it.
Mia Massoni I don’t think General Cure will work since it is typically used as an anti-parasitic. Let us know how you make out!

I'm in the process of having the startup maintenance done to my pond. I'm concerned about one goldfish that wasn't eating and stayed hidden, only making an appearance while the others were actively swimming around. It stayed by the bottom & cause it's mostly black I couldn't see it very well. So I caught them all prior to this company coming to work on the pond. The black one is in a quarantine so now I can see it. I wish I could attach a pic. One side is bulging out and the scales appear to be pineconing. Is this dropsy? What should I do? No one around here seems to know...

Hey I noticed my betta fish this morning bloated and his eyes slightly bugged out. I put aquarium salt in the tank and it seemed to help. When I got back from work he was bloated again.. what do I do? I can’t get that stuff to treat him. I’m having really bad luck with my bettas recently/:. I can’t use our tap water here because it’s well water with water softener.
This sounds more like a swim bladder issue, not dropsy.

my betta fish has dropsy please help
Just discovered pineconing on my betta last night. I feel like it's genetic with him as I've been battling fin rot on him for months. My water parameters have always been spot on, I feed him a good, varied diet and keep up with tank cleaning. I feel so bad for him but I've done all I can. Unfortunately, Kanaplex cannot be bought in Canada anymore.
What did you try using to treat the fin rot? If you’re using a medication and it’s not working within 1-2 weeks I’d suggest switching to something different. My go-to is always Seachem Paraguard for most things external.
@@LongIslandFishGuy Unfortunately, Paraguard is on the list of products we can't buy in Canada. So I started with frequent water changes, then tried aquarium salt and eventually moved on to methylene blue dips. That helped the worst part of his rot that went to the base of his tail but the ends of his other fins keep rotting, little bits at a time. Currently, I am doing epsom salt dips, in hopes that it does something. He scales are still sticking out and he has been hanging out at the bottom of the tank all day. He ate last night but shows no interest in anything now. Canada's silly laws make treating sick fish very difficult. :(
Update on the wolf fish? Currently treating two of my female bettas with epson salt and they appear to be more mobile so that’s a plus. It’s a waiting game at this point.

Can u help me my fish is dying from dropsy
I'm not certain what is wrong with my betta. I've had Blu for 15 months and I'm desperate to save him. I've put him in a hospital tank with minimal water so he can get to the service. He's lethargic, dragging his bottom, hard to arouse, and hiding in the corner. I'm going to skip feeding for 3 days and proceed with a frozen pea. I've added a pinch of Epsom salt and few drops of Betta Fix. Not sure how to proceed. I hate the idea of him suffering. Any suggestions are greatly appreciated. PLEASE!!
What are the symptoms physically? What type of aquarium is it in? How often do you change the water?

Nanette Fox You can treat the water with JUST the Kanaplex to see if it will improve. Also make sure you do water changes to make sure the water quality is 👌🏼
Garlic Guard is great for this - add it in with the focus and Kanaplex and your fish will nom it right up, no questions asked~

The best thing to do is to just keep the water clean with water changes and use aquarium salts if you have them. If not, beg your parents to help you out!

I got a crowntail betta about 9 months ago and he had a big stomach (I thought he was just chubby) I just went on vacation for 3 weeks and left my grandma to feed him once every other day to make sure she didnt over feed now coming back hes more bloated and it looks like his scales might be barely popping up. I have 4 ottos with him that I feel would be much more sensitive than him if something was wrong. Could it just be bad genetics in the betta, and also is it too late to treat him?

When the pineconing is pretty severe or if the fish isn’t eating anymore.

My rust orange pond koi has dropsy -this is the second koi to have it. I’ve had them for over eight years now. They are family. I tried to save the first one and failed. 😭 This one is about 8 inches and look like a big whale because its so bloated. I don’t know what to do anymore. I’m gonna try the meds and pray that it works.

Too late everybody , my Koi is gone, and how he didn’t want to go and leave us all behind. I sometimes wished that I’d got the meds on time, but I have to carry on, carry on as if nothing really matters to me. 😔😔😥

yeah well some of us can't afford the medicine that he is showing or any of the dropsy cure available on the internet. So in a way it becomes a sad case of helplessness to even try curing it. What a fate for me.

Personally I saved from dropsy only one fish its pretty much a fatal desease and its difficult to cure. To cure this fish I catched it on early stages, put it in a quarantine, added epsom salt and metronidazole(flagyl or general cure). But I suppose a strong medicine for bacteria like canaplex,bactopur/direct in worse case and furan are way more effective. If there is no effect at all, bad news better euthanise it with clove oil.
The fish in this video was saved and is still alive almost 4 years later. This method is good and has had no long term ill effects.
