Shure needs to look into making crystal microphones again a lot of people like those vintage sounds now

I'll bet you anything they would make a ton of money on something like this. Imagine a brand new crystal mic along with repair parts and care guide. It would have to be expensive or people would buy it, not knowing what it was and would break it.

It's probably cheaper to use digital filters to emulate them, although using the real deal may give unpredictability's magic touch.

This mic still works... because it was so well built. Quality stuff!

Most of the time in college, 43-44 years ago we used a solid state Mic that you could almost pound nails with. Worked for most thins we did. That is an amazing artifact!

Love to hear the direct feed of this mic instead of through another mic in the room.

They should re-manufacture ceramic and crystal elements.
Something like a reissue, as Fender did with his "Bassman" model amplifiers.
Many collectors and harmonica players would be very grateful and very happy.

Sadly, ambient moisture has destroyed most transducers based on rochelle salts that were manufactured roughly from the 1930s through the 1950s. Such transducers included phonograph pickups and microphones like this one. It is a miracle that the microphone demonstrated in this video is still functional. A dynamic microphone of similar vintage would be more likely to still be usable.

Buying old crystal mics is a crap-shoot.........I did find a great old Turner that still works really well. Moisture can kill them. I got a Shure OEM mic that shipped with a Conn tuner, and it was stone dead when it got here... the crystal was dust. I found a working crystal element and revived it.

    $90 in 1937 would be $1569 in 2018.

That actually has more to do with the recording capabilities and/or transmission schemes of the time, not necessarily the mics.
