I remember playing one of those knockoffs games, there was that one guy who i felt so bad in the world chat losing over thousands of real dollars because he was trying to get a nonexistent mega version of mewtwo because the way to get it is by becoming number 1, By number one i mean becoming the number 1 spender of the week. He was on 1st but someone snagged the 1st place cuz someone spent more money at the last minute.
Pokémon cafe (an official Pokémon game) got some surprising facts too: -it’s a Gacha game -you can spend real money to get more in game currency -there’s a summer Vaporeon outfit and a maid gardevoir outfit. (I know a maid outfit isn’t necessarily sexual but it’s heavily sexualized on the internet and in for example anime series, something from Japan (just like the Nintendo company) and Gardevoir is also heavily sexualized by the internet and there’s simply no way Nintendo doesn’t know this.)
As a teacher in a SEN school, I'm making a real push for more education on gacha games and their risks for staff and students alike. I can think of so many students who absolutely love Pokémon (as do I!) who would fall prey to this sort of thing so easily... I'm a Genshin player myself so it's not like I don't understand, but education on the risks should be as necessary as education on any other type of gambling IMO!
I just searched this game on Google Play and the only thing I'm getting is "Pocket Arena", but looking through the comments it seems like it was originally called "Megamon", and the comments also confirm that the game is the same as Elf Fantasy. So yeah, they did it again
That whole thing about constantly taking the game down and re-uploading it under a new developer is something that they do for several other games like DragonBall Afk, or several one piece games
14:10 It's so obvious Moop has NEVER played a gacha game before, because usually in gacha games the first roll is always guaranteed to be the same character on EVERY ACCOUNT! This is the case for Honkai Star Rail with Asta, Genshin Impact with Noelle(if you decide to roll on the beginner banner that is), Solo Leveling ARISE with Song Chiyul, Wuthering Waves with Chixia, and etc etc. So this is not at all proof of them rigging the rates of the game, this is just a common gacha mechanic. And the whole cryogenal thing is just bad luck.
I remember playing a game fairly similar to this years ago. I got bored eventually and i left. Game disappeared, never showed up again, and now there are several other games like it. Its fairly impressive im ngl.
Really nice video! Wanna add a small extra detail on the gem prices section starting at 12:20, from the perspective of a former gacha player (not of the super known ones you mentioned, though still decently "reputable" ones - plus most follow a similar pattern): Those packs do seem disproportionate at first, but it's while at the initial purchase stage. That "firstX2" is pretty roughly translated but it's usual that the games offer you as a starting player double the gems/quartz/etc you buy for the first couple purchases of each pack. After those, the ratio of "extra gems" plummets dramatically. As an example, Magia Record from Aniplex would offer more than 100% bonus gems on the smaller packages - but for the big one, it'd go from the "One Time Only" 1000 Magia Stones (560 paid + 440 free) to 750 (560+190) for the same low price of... 69.99 Yeah the pricing wasn't very healthy there either. And that was 3-4 10x rolls lmao Just to mention the smaller one, it'd go from 50 stones (8 paid + 42 free) for 0.99 to 8 for the same price, no bonus. Small bonus starting at around the 15 USD packages, and even then a small one like the pack mentioned above.
13:00 This story hit me hard, and probably has traumatized me from ever spending money on games again. When I was like 5 or 6 I played this game that I think was called Shark Dash. I found out that if I clicked on the plus symbol next to the gold, and then click on another button, I would get more gold. Later on I would find out that that actually close real money and I probably ended up spending around a thousand dollars. It’s absolutely scummy how in game purchases didn’t need any verification back then and children could just spend thousands without knowing. Anyway that’s the story of how I’ll never spend any money on games ever again
1. Games asking for your contacts etc is common, just to prevent spreading misinformation.. 2. The animations are stolen from other games using rigs in blender, it only takes a few minutes to take the animation and insert another rigged model to it 3 is just my personal opinion but SwSh demake shows perfectly why Pokémon should've stayed in the pixel lane
Something like this happened to me: I started playing a free-to-play Pokémon game without knowing that it was fake. The game itself got me hooked at the time. It’s impressive how far the criminals go in order to fool people.
Thanks for this video I already knew about this game from some other youtubers and was thinking to download it but it's thanks to you that i get to know how dangerous it can be for downloading it thanks again❤️❤️👍👍
The animations are certainly something. But as soon as I saw the game I knew it was gonna be gacha. (A genre I do not care for) Now I know it’s sketchy, shady and predatory gacha.
The reason why there are other apps with the same ad or animations is because they all are the same game but they have more than 1 so they don't lose all their players. They can login or join all the same servers!
I'm an asian, the game i have seen lots of times in app store, but the name change again and again. the animations of gardevoir's skill I have seen a lot, too. and every time i see, they are completely different but still beautiful
Man, this makes me sad. I really enjoyed playing this game, and I was still enjoying it before I got completely locked out of it. It just scratched that one niche that I really loved, and it felt perfect: AFK style games. I have played AFK Arena for several years now, and when I found a freaking POKEMON styled AFK game, my excitement was immeasurable. So, uh..... could someone maybe make a non predatory AFK Pokemon collecting game? 😅

About time someone made a video about this game 👍I've been a fan of Pokemon games since Red release so it's nice to see people pointing out scams like this, nice job 🙂👍
glad i found this video before even touching it on the play store! i've been gettings ads of this game (or at least something that seems similar) with the same stolen assets, gacha mechanic, cool animations. the title is in chinese but when translated it's also got something to do with its previous names. ironically, i got an ad for it while watching this video lol
So this game has been floating around for like 7 years and had no animations. I played what was probably the first iteration. It was fun but monetized to hell
I'm going to have to say that little research was done on the game and heavy overgeneralization was used. The game gets updated every month, at first there was only 7 s+ mons, now there's over 30, new S+ mons gets added every month, the game gets taken down from the store (Because of copyright), you are alerted ingame when it happens and where to download the game. This is a competitive game with team building, not a story based game, content has been pushed out every month for 7 years and will continue to do so. The discord does not "encourage" spending, infact, it does the opposite, with listing extensive guides on what to do, how to save, how much diamonds you can expect to get in a month, what to avoid doing. The game is F2P if you have time to put in the game, a lot of the top ranking players in older servers haven't even paid a dollar. "Stealing information and cash", when making accusations, provide proof. The app doesn't collect more data than your average app. And when it comes to "Stealing cash", the game does not steal your cash, sure, it asks for it, but It's also your choice to not spend it. You weren't forced to, take responsibility for your own actions. Be better Moopsten.
Yeah feels like the video was just not well researched enough and very badly put together. The only thing you need to actually know about this game is that it's not official or licensed and therefore you should not spend money on it. That's it. And as for the stealing data thing, Facebook and other huge social media apps already do that and on a much larger scale and I doubt it'd cause any real damage or harm especially since it's a very popular game in East Asia and if it caused a huge issue then a massive scandal would've come out by now, and if you're really scared just use a throwaway email lol.
Im SOO happy I found this video randomly! Ever since I downloaded the “Delta Emulator” on my iOS I have been getting adds for this game. Mines called “Battle Masters: Adventure.” At the moment. I have been wanting to check it out but just really felt the trailers were too good to be true, along with getting a second add shortly after the first one displaying “first person gameplay” and realized it’s prolly fake. Thank you for spreading the word man you are great for this video!! I want an open world Pokémon game that feels like gta and or a Pokémon vr game but until Nintendo say something don’t believe it. Edit: while watching this video halfway thru and while initially typing my comment I got yet another add from them.. just saying, they’re throwing their adds onto your video.
Gatchas are one of my favorite mechanics to see in a game for many reasons! No coincidence the arts and animations are amazing because in these types of games character creation is turned up to high gear because if you want people to pull gotta get em invested into the characters.
Would like to point out that usually in gacha games your first pull is always rigged to be one specific character on this case Geodude and honestly the same can be said about Cryogonal it's the classic highest rarity character they give you for free just so you feel good about it
As a person who actually plays these type of games, these games definitely are coppa violations. Nowhere in any of the games say "You have to be 13+" or something about gambling and ect. As soon as you get to play these games, its just advertising saying stuff like "Recharge to get to Vip level 2". There is so many of these games and you can find many by just selecting on new apps and you find so many. These games also hide their identity by using fake screenshots of other games and also block you from downloading the game from certain devices.
I forgot to mention, but this kind of practice is also on roblox (but way less scummy) which are pokemon brick bronze copies. They most of the time now have a roulette.. which is basically a loot box. And it requires robux, roblox's currency which requires REAL MONEY. They then reupload these games and gain more money and "DevEX" it which is exchanging robux for money.
Now that's weird, because when I did play it (for like a week no money spent, just grinded) I was never asked for any personal info nor did I ever get multiple duplicate pokemon everytime i drew 10. Maybe it's because I downloaded it when it was a bit new, IDK. But damn this game was so scummy. I was bored within a week wtf
you never get asked, using tos they steal your data with your unknown consent. every big app does it but this one may be much worse with valuable data being stolen.
I downloaded this game for fun, as a personal experience, takes about 3 months to obtain every S tier playing F2P, (except for the blazakin line) and it progressively grows more and more strategic, new pokemon added monthly or so and other gameplay are added on holidays
9:13 the thing i dont like about that argument is that this applies to every game, not just gachas. for instance, in every pokemon game you search (therefore wasting your time) for a random pokemon out of the grass. Or even popular mobile games like brawl stars or crossy road have rng rewards
The actual APK for the game is much safer. Been playing it for half a year and know people that have been playing for years. The global release version is extremely safe, not sure about the Chinese version though, that's much harder to find.
There At Least 2 Games Like This For Dragon Ball And 2 For Digimon, One It Looks Like 3D Assets And The Other Is Basically Like This One With 2D Art/Sprites? Whatever (The Only Thing I Remember Is The Knock Off "Susanoomon" Using His "Ama-No-Habakiri" And Cutting Earth In Half, But This One Game I Cant Actually Find It)
Since I was given free access to downloading any games I wanted as a kid I've been trying to see how long in a mobile game I can go without needing to pay due to the game it's self throwing a wall at me that extensive playing will not make easier. I've practically mastered 'speedrunning' to the wall in idle games as I learnt you can tap with all your fingers and it makes it go way faster every time. It can take just about an hour to hit a wall in most and in those same ones they throw the "BUY THE BONUS NOW!" messages at you when you open the game or run out of some rando currency they make. I've tried some tower defense, slight RPGs, rouge likes and some really unique style games that were actually pretty good but usually have an ending that makes it a short experience (the one with the robot trying to recycle rubbish after the extinction of humanity was so sad) However the games I've played the most long term have been gacha after my partner who has even more experience with those kinds introduced me to Hoyoverse games. The company who made Genshin. I hadn't had much experience with those games outside of AFK Arena but even then that was an on and off experience and felt more like an idle game. (Kinda is really.) I decided to play and I really liked the story of Genshin and stuck around. After learning about the gacha system I've stuck by my rule to play without spending real money and have done all the recent content and have progressed fine. Same for when I played Honkai Star Rail and Honkai Impact 3rd. I'd say Honkai Impact 3rd is more forward about the gacha element and paying but it's still completely doable. Those games I can respect because you really don't need to pay if you just time your pulls right by saving up and doing side quests occasionally. You even have a system that if you don't get something the first time you definitely do the next and a limit on how much you put in to get that to happen. You don't even really need to pull as you get given a lot of free characters over the course of events. I actually still use some free non banner received characters in the games. Then there are games that don't have that failsafe and literally make the game completely unplayable unless you get this random more powerful thing via paying them money to make it happen faster, or even worse make you *think* it'll happen faster. Either make people pay from the very beginning and give full access to the game and it's things, or at least give a more limited but still doable way of progression that doesn't force people to pay you and let the game's impression on them decide. And especially fuck these guys in particular for trying to bait kids because of stolen content. For once I hope Nintendo squishes this game as it's not fan content, it's just exploitation of easily tricked minors and others who may be unable to know the difference. Out of all the trash I've seen on the play store, stuff like this is always the worst.
If I remember correctly the Gardevoir animation got into my feed and many people in the comments were calling out the scam, the channel was promoting the game.
I think I found the game you were talking about but it has a different name and different company name but the previews are still the same the game is called pet tamer: evolve journey (early access)
It really sucks because when I saw the initial animation with the Gardevoir, I went “holy crap that’s my favorite Pokémon” (not for that reason you freaks), but just now, knowing this, it saddens me
ive been playing this game for a bit before seeing that video, yet it feels like the game you're describing is totally different from what ive been playing, even the name and discord is different
I actually play a gatcha game that being yugioh duel links (i still wish someone archived all the dialog from past events) and it not only follows cappa it's also a ko-money official game
The one thing i dislike about duel links is them removing duel quizzes and loaner deck duels. I know theyre still there but i thought it was nice to have a way for new players to explore new archetypes they might want to try or a quick way to receive gems.
I feel like there is much more to do outside of Nintendo's grasp to officially stop this "phenomenon". Devs like these, pushing their limits between legal and Illegal movements, that could lead to more limitations on other devs, and even future devs, on what they can or can't do. For example, this could lead to Nintendo making the Pokémon IP have a lot more heavy copyright, which would not only affect developers of fan games that utalize characters from the IP (for example, a fan game that adds fakemon as well as offical Pokémon in a new or reimagined region), but could also affect a lot of people, who either has a character as the theme of their online identity (like me), or utalizes a personal character that is highly based off the copyrighted character. These scummy devs deserve extreme punishment, especially when they take something, like a light-ish copyrighted IP (I'm saying light-ish due to the ammount of fan games and content that utalizes the characters under the Pokémon IP), and put their money predatory perspectives onto young children, who are most likely the only people who would fall for it due to the lack of scam education, and have the chance to ruin the whole IP access restrictions for everyone else, especially the ones who make their games out of passion and dont expect much monitozation; I was planning to use a more heavy and harsh descriptive than "scummy", but I'd rather keep things PG, ans would only go as high as PG-13 depending on the content.
They have added many new pokemon, it is updated just like any gacha game, ofc the game want you to spend money but like i said, it is a gacha game. I enjoy this game, i am F2P and I am far away from being like the other player spending money but still, i like this game, don't play it if u don't want to but, if children is playing a gacha game, anyone of them, then its the fault of the parents for not being careful of the doing of there children. Sorry if my english is bad, it is not my first language
I'm glad I mentioned this game to my friends after I found it last night because they sent me this video, it was the exact game under a different name, I thought it was neat but I was skeptical by how good the animations were, the second I found out they're asking to make phone calls on your behalf and steal your information, I deleted it, and the other app I played that was similar. Luckily for me, I chose to make my accounts with them with my side emails with passwords I use as link codes for dynamax adventures lmao! and I've never linked payment methods to my phone or the email account that I used, so they're SOL with me!
My little cousin is a professional PtW kid, and this is a very legitimate concern i have, as he has gotten crazy with it, and (kinda related, i think) has even hacked freaking Prodigy Math Game
I saw an add for the game a couple days ago while scrolling TH-cam shorts, and thought that it was pretty sketchy and if anyone else would notice that the game exists. I'm glad that it's being addressed as a giant scam now.
TBH i think Nintendo wants take down this game because of their karma and the fact the creators of this game arent doing for love but rather money which is a reasonable choice but they could tolerate more the fans works like theres fans that make fan games with this quality only to show their love and nintendo pay them back with bans which is stupid
Welp, I’ve been playing it the last two months. I figured this was the case. Thankfully I haven’t spent much, only a little bit. Good thing I know this now, I will not spend anymore and I will be watching my money carefully.
As i understand it, the only REAL downdside as a consumer playing this game is the risk of data being stolen, because the rest of the argument i see here is being a "Gacha Game", but as far as i know, Pokemon Masters is ALSO a gacha game.

Pokémon cafe (an official Pokémon game) got some surprising facts too:
-it’s a Gacha game
-you can spend real money to get more in game currency
-there’s a summer Vaporeon outfit and a maid gardevoir outfit. (I know a maid outfit isn’t necessarily sexual but it’s heavily sexualized on the internet and in for example anime series, something from Japan (just like the Nintendo company) and Gardevoir is also heavily sexualized by the internet and there’s simply no way Nintendo doesn’t know this.)
third time's the charm, they say. gardevoir was introduced in third generation
where to get maid and Vaporeon outfit?
"just ignore it" honestly that's the best advice you can give when something's trying to hurt you in the digital world
As a teacher in a SEN school, I'm making a real push for more education on gacha games and their risks for staff and students alike.
Is it called something different, now? Because I can't download it.

That whole thing about constantly taking the game down and re-uploading it under a new developer is something that they do for several other games like DragonBall Afk, or several one piece games

Well thanks for the info, ngl that Gardevoir animation would have suckered me into playing it. But at least I know what this is about now.

Yeah the pricing wasn't very healthy there either. And that was 3-4 10x rolls lmao
Just to mention the smaller one, it'd go from 50 stones (8 paid + 42 free) for 0.99 to 8 for the same price, no bonus. Small bonus starting at around the 15 USD packages, and even then a small one like the pack mentioned above.

This story hit me hard, and probably has traumatized me from ever spending money on games again.
I just remembered that game
1. Games asking for your contacts etc is common, just to prevent spreading misinformation..
2. The animations are stolen from other games using rigs in blender, it only takes a few minutes to take the animation and insert another rigged model to it
3 is just my personal opinion but SwSh demake shows perfectly why Pokémon should've stayed in the pixel lane
Something like this happened to me:
I started playing a free-to-play Pokémon game without knowing that it was fake.
The game itself got me hooked at the time. It’s impressive how far the criminals go in order to fool people.
I guess some Chinese Pokemon knockoff is trying to make it's own... *Impact.*

The animations are certainly something. But as soon as I saw the game I knew it was gonna be gacha. (A genre I do not care for) Now I know it’s sketchy, shady and predatory gacha.

Moop: There's nothing we can do.
Napoleon in the back:
That was a smooth sponsor transition ngl

Finally Nintendo doing something about the app
Gatchas are one of my favorite mechanics to see in a game for many reasons!
No coincidence the arts and animations are amazing because in these types of games character creation is turned up to high gear because if you want people to pull gotta get em invested into the characters.
1:11 …bro did they skin that gardevoir???? its dress is part of its body 😨
haircut
nintendo needs to take notes from those battle animations!
There At Least 2 Games Like This For Dragon Ball
And 2 For Digimon, One It Looks Like 3D Assets And The Other Is Basically Like This One With 2D Art/Sprites? Whatever (The Only Thing I Remember Is The Knock Off "Susanoomon" Using His "Ama-No-Habakiri" And Cutting Earth In Half, But This One Game I Cant Actually Find It)
But it's so much better than the recent Pokemon games
Since I was given free access to downloading any games I wanted as a kid I've been trying to see how long in a mobile game I can go without needing to pay due to the game it's self throwing a wall at me that extensive playing will not make easier. I've practically mastered 'speedrunning' to the wall in idle games as I learnt you can tap with all your fingers and it makes it go way faster every time. It can take just about an hour to hit a wall in most and in those same ones they throw the "BUY THE BONUS NOW!" messages at you when you open the game or run out of some rando currency they make. I've tried some tower defense, slight RPGs, rouge likes and some really unique style games that were actually pretty good but usually have an ending that makes it a short experience (the one with the robot trying to recycle rubbish after the extinction of humanity was so sad)
However the games I've played the most long term have been gacha after my partner who has even more experience with those kinds introduced me to Hoyoverse games.
It really sucks because when I saw the initial animation with the Gardevoir, I went “holy crap that’s my favorite Pokémon” (not for that reason you freaks), but just now, knowing this, it saddens me
ive been playing this game for a bit before seeing that video, yet it feels like the game you're describing is totally different from what ive been playing, even the name and discord is different
that darkrai animation in the surfshark ad tho🔥
I actually play a gatcha game that being yugioh duel links (i still wish someone archived all the dialog from past events) and it not only follows cappa it's also a ko-money official game
And also they basically tell you the odds of pulling the SR/UR by saying how many are left in the box you’re buying from
The one thing i dislike about duel links is them removing duel quizzes and loaner deck duels. I know theyre still there but i thought it was nice to have a way for new players to explore new archetypes they might want to try or a quick way to receive gems.
This game looks like if dragon ball legends and pokemon had a baby.
Honestly it’s weird how Nintendo is specifically targeting really great Pokémon fan games that aren’t malicious, but these ones go unoticed.

The data at risk is pretty much nothing at all most of the times, happens a lot with games off the Playstore
