i think its really funny how every digimon fan said "cyber sleuth" to themselves immediately when she said she was looking for a game
I'm not even the biggest Digimon fan and I said the same 😂 most Digimon games were unnecessarily complex and annoying half the time 😅
Especially for someone coming from Pokémon. Cyber Sleuth, while I enjoyed the hell out of it, is absolutely a very simple RPG and if Pokémon is their jam then it's a perfect match.
But why though? Cyber sleuth was bad too. Is that really the best there is.
@@yoshiguy123 if you say so
@@yoshiguy123 unfortunately most Digimon games are so complex and annoying to play, so yes cyber sleuth is one of the best games to play if you want to clear and easy to play game thats not gonna have you pulling your hair out
I love when fans embrace criticism. There's something real cathartic about a new fan going "wtf is up with this???" And old fans going " hahaha yeah..."
That's because we still recognize we are different fandoms and not everything is for everyone. What Pokémon fans might hate about Digimon is very likely what we love about it and that's awesome. It means there's games out there for us both to enjoy.
I do love that jaiden understood enough about digimon that she ran into leomon and killed it then her side quest was to dig it a grave
Her end credits in her plot synopsis was the Angela Anaconda Divorce copypasta. She at least got the digimemes down.

If you want your favourite digimon too evolve you must follow this guide;
1: The three moons of earth must be aligned.
2: You must partake in a ritual at stone henge.
4: You MUST be wearing a polkadot tie. Bowties are also accepted.
5: After smearing the blood soil mixture on the game console/PC, your favourite digimon has evolved into a Numemon because you forgot a step.
Grinding out 3 days of specific situations in Digimon World only to evolve into a Numemon still haunts me
I will never complain about Yamask's evolution process in Sword and Shield ever again

Thank you! That really means a lot, and you’re absolutely right as long as she is still interested she’ll find the good games soon enough!
@@excaliburgames5401 Half the anime is good. And by that I mean, the half of each episode that isn't repeated animation of Digimon Digivolving.
Cyber Sleuth was my first two games in the series. I haven’t played a single Digimon game since but I will say I’m a fan if only a casual fan.
@@excaliburgames5401 The one with the small devil was the best one.
I love Digimon, but Banco treats that IP like absolute shit. They simply aren't good and because they don't know how to make it good, they copy the shit out of other franchises that boomed.....but not in good.
As someone who watched Jaiden's video first, I couldn't help but smile and even chuckle a bit every time he said cyber sleuth. She found out way too late that that was the right choice lol.
sounds like for a video. not a good game for content. she woves her own story and comentary into games she plays for videos. a heavy story based games isnt something she can really add her own stuff to.
@@MELTEDBUHTTER
then digimon in general is not good for content because the franchise in general leans heavily into the story and characters.
@@MELTEDBUHTTER I mean to be fair, so is Pokemon Ranger and Pokemon XD, as opposed to her Nuzlocke (which are personal) those two games was her telling about the story in her own way because, well, the story's the same for everyone
I mean, Jaiden even said in the preface that she knew Cyber Sleuth was the game she would easily enjoy, but I suspect she wanted a game to make a video out of and a smooth and easy transition into becoming a fan makes for a less compelling story. Plus if there's anything Jaiden's proven, it's that she's resilient, this game wasn't going to break her from trying again in the future.
Even as someone who genuinely enjoyed Dawn(Dusk) when she mentioned what game she was playing I ended up going "YAY DAWN(Dusk)!!! Wait... oh no, dawn(Dusk)..."
@@KingTaltia Oh no, I enjoyed Dusk too. But that was also my thought.
Not really into the digimon games but really enjoyed your reaction. You let her prove her comments before judging and that is a rare thing amongst reviewers. Very much enjoyed. Fun and opinions that even when not positive you give the benefit of the doubt
Thanks I super appreciate that!
As someone who loves both Pokemon and Digimon, I was always trying to find a Digimon game that had the same feel to it like the mainline Pokemon games had and Cyber Sleuth has answered that prayer. My only wish for Cyber Sleuth is that I wish that it had more digimon in its Digidex. My starter in my playthrough of Cyber Sleuth was a Palmon now a Rosemon BM named Blossom, and the starter for the first time through Hacker's Memory was the Tentomon now a HerculesKabuterimon named Bugman.
Do you play pokemon romhacks? Cause there is digimon emerald and digimon nova red. They are what they sound like. Pokemon fire red and emerald with digimon instead of Pokemon
@@Metalhammer1993 no, I don't play any pokemon romhacks or emulators.
Digimon world 2003 (or 3 in America) plays literally like Pokémon and it’s amazing. Backtracking isn’t even an issue because the music is incredible and the battles are fun as well as plenty of fun strategies
Boy, I have no idea what feel you think they have in common. Things Happen in Cyber Sleuth. There is a plot at the beginning and a plot at the end. Party balance to fill multiple roles outside of basic type coverage. VERY basic, VERY not present in any Pokemon Game.
I didn't nickname my partners, but my partner in the og was Terriermon who became Megagargomon, and HM I just remembered was a Betamon who became Metal Seadramon. I also ended og cyber sleuth with Megidramon, Omnimon and Omnimon Zwart. Took a TON of grinding to get them.
It's important, I feel, to remember that Digimon is not in competition with Pokemon. It was made in competition to Tamagotchi. And it _won_ that competition, and now..... The franchise doesn't really have a direction to go in, but by god. It is _gonna go there, wherever that happens to be._
Competition with Tamagotchi? No Tamagotchi and Digimon were made by the same people for different demographics. They were made cause bandai were making them thought the cute Tamagotchi wouldnt sell to boys so they split some into monsters to battle to be more appealing to boys back in the day. I mean if you already got the tech there. May as well tailor it to different demographics.
Then it kinda exploded into it's own thing and Bandai went with it.
@@SpikeVein It's funny that, in 90's in the west, they actually did a great job marketing Tamagotchi to both boys and girls. At least from what I remember being a kid at the time.
Its not even a competition to Tamagotchi, they’re from the same company. Digimon basically is like a boy version of tamagotchi. That’s it, it was never made to compete with it. Tamagotchi is like Digimon’s older sister
@@SpikeVein On a funny note, Nanimon's lore would describe Nanimon evolving from a Tamagotchi that got stuck in the Digital World. It's part of the reason it primarily does poop attacks.
@@apollogarvan9446 Ok that is pretty darn hilarious. That explains a lot about the various nanimon
I always love listening to Jaiden, she is great. But yes the older games needing a 90 page document to tell you exactly what to do was how it was if you didn’t want to just explore randomly, or even when you did you still had to go back and check guides. Lol, The roster in the mobile games are great though. It was actually a great one for her to see what all “cool guys” digimon has to slowly fall in love with.
Yeah, older games needed you to read, shock horror, sometimes or you would just be lost. There are games that I remember that if you did not read the tutorials/Quest Dialog/manual you were not getting anywhere.
@@veinexesvideos9883 There are some that even if you have read along to the plot, still won't tell you where to go. I know I was lost several times in World 3 and just straight up had to look up a guide to find the Event Flag I missed triggering. and World 1 absolutely relies on you just pulling up your big boy pants and wandering off into the unknown hoping to find something.
I did this game without a guide including finding Beelzemon. It was literal hell but still I did it
@@blackoutsampler9993 Even Digimon World 1 fans will admit that it's exceptionally tedious and frustrating if you don't know exactly what you are doing.
I love that the consensus is that cyber sleuth would have been the best choice and she was afraid it was to similar to persona to be a good digimon game but it would have honestly been the least broken game to play
It's not that it wouldn't've been a good game...
...It's just that, narratively speaking, it would've been difficult for her to weave her own story around an already story focused and narrative heavy game without it coming out very jank! (That's at least what I think she ment)
Cyber sleuth isn't anything like most Digimon games tho, it's much more on the understanding side and less hair pulling side lol
@@ExcalibeonSwordofEeveelutions i mean she seemed to do that well enough with Pokémon xd and ranger, and those are both pretty heavily story driven
@@IncorporationXII Well she's familiar with pokemon so she already knows a lot of the context behind most things, the story and characters are all she had to focus on for those games.
@@ExcalibeonSwordofEeveelutions fuck her story then, the game is simply better
Two things about Digimon games that make them impenetrable for newcomers like Jaiden:
(1) The evolution trees and mechanics are arcane _at their best._ Cyber Sleuth and Survive did a decent job at making them easier to understand, but you still need a wiki full of poorly drawn MSPaint charts to really unpack everything.
(2) What I like to call "the Agumon problem". Digimon games love Agumon and Agumon variants (Toy, Black, Blue, etc.) Imagine if every Pokemon game in every region gave you Pikachu as your only starter option. It was a fun treat in Yellow, but would be miserable after the umpteenth game in a row.
On #2, that's nothing Pokemon doesn't do. Every region has some Pikachu look-alike, and even Charazard has been getting lots of special treatment since XY.
I've only played some of the more recent Digimon games (Cyber Sleuth, Hacker's Memory, Next Order and Survive), but of those the only one that really felt equivalent to having Pikachu as a starter was Survive, since they're set characters there. None of the others pushed an Agumon onto you.
It depends on the game I suppose. In "Digimon World 3" the evolution tree is largely tied to leveling up your various Digimon evolutions. Albeit some evolutions also require a certain stat requirement to be meant as well, but it's pretty easy system to use if your willing to level up everything. Of course, this is also one of the reasons I find the game really annoying since it makes leveling up your team really grindy if you want to unlock their full tree. Add in all of the backtracking the game has and it just makes the overall experience rather unenjoyable. And this is coming from someone whose dumped hundreds of hours into "Disgaea: Hour of Darkness: in order to defeat the game's strongest optional boss.
And "Digimon World: Data Squad" gives the player an in-game tree they can use and most of the requirements tie into defeating certain kinds of enemies. Albeit that game is pretty annoying since certain enemy types don't show up in the first couple of areas. So it can take a while to gain access to some of the cooler forms. And it features annoying puzzles to solve as well. And a lot of the optional bosses are a pain in the backside since they can banish up to 2/3rds of your team during the fight.
And those games are still better than the turn-based strategy one for the WonderSwan where your character can randomly learn an ability from a defeated enemy.
@@WolforNuva Yeah, and even then, you're able to influence the route your Agumon evolves into with the morality system, as well as him evolving at all, unlike the starter Pikachu in past games. Agumon being able to speak and being an actual character in the story with a distinct personality also helps.
1) But you don't NEED to learn all digivolution trees from memory. Most games are really straight forward with how evolution works and what Digimon evolve into what. The ones that aren't, well that's the point. You're supposed to experiment and see the results.
2) This is just a straight up lie. Almost every Digimon game gives you the option to start with something other than Agumon. Aside from Digimon Survive, which I don't really count because of how the story justifies Agumon being a mandatory Digimon, the last game to make Agumon your mandatory starter is re: digitize. And that was like 10 years ago. Meanwhile, pokemon always gives you starters of the same primary type(water, grass, fire) and with the same amount of evolution stages. So it's not really any better when it comes to starters
I mean, Pokemon has the Pikaclones and it technically HAS a charizard problem
As a long time fan of Jaiden's I really appreciate the respect in this reaction! I get worried sometimes that in Jaiden's comedic critiques that reactors might get rude even when Jaiden appears to be making her best efforts to be respectful. Seeing calm and respectful reactions makes me happy even if they include small independent critique of Jaiden's choice or opinion. This video made me really happy, especially to hear a more experienced Digimon voice in the mix!
"I chose world dawn"
"Oh no"
Literally representation of someone from the fandom knowing exactly what the other person was going to experience
And it wasn't gonna be good lmao
The funny thing about Digimon World Dusk/Dawn... They're sequel games. To Digimon World DS. Like, yeah, of course they get praised! They're the same as the first thing except _more_ and _improved_ ! And in the end, how many Digimon games are actually direct sequels with the same mechanics!? Of course Dawn/Dusk would be more popular and praised in the Digimon community as a result! But for a beginner like Jaiden...? Yeah... She either needed to stretch her creative content muscles with Cyber Sleuth or start with Digimon World DS since it actually, yanno... has a tutorial that eases you in?
I can sympathize with Jaiden because Dusk was my own first Digimon game
@@AshtonMonitor I actually like DW:DS better than Dawn/Dusk for this exact reason! Yeah, sure, Dawn/Dusk is overall more well known, but it sure didn't make itself as clear and readable as the first game WHICH I PLAYED SECOND!!!
I actually think that Digimon World DS is better than Dawn/Dusk because in the first game the basic attack did not cost mp.
A game should definitely stand on its own with teaching players what to do though
Okay that makes a lot of sense. I had no idea what the FUCK was happening
She definitely did not choose an easy game for starters... Then again I wonder how long it would take for Re:Digitize's "Oh hey your digimons reverted back to eggs" would get on her nerves. And yeah these worlds seem to be maze after maze... That make Cyber Sleuth's mazes look timid. At least Cyber Sleuth got Mini Map - and ability to turn off encounters. Wonder if we see Grimmon again later...
Hopefully she tries Cyber Sleuth later. Also "why is Agumon Blue?" YukiAgumon. They do love their recolors in Digimon!
YukiAgumon?
Is it a different one from Snow Agumon or are you just being a weeb?
@@miwestraveler3986 I just use Wikimon and that place tends to have Japanese names of the Digimon, so they tend to stick in mind easier.
Re, degit?
Hey look at me! An obligatory terraria reference!
It’s snowagumon yukaagumon is the Japanese name
Cuz Yuki is snow in Japanese
Fuck that game
If she were a Digimon fan and was sent to play her first pokemon game. This would be the equivalent of starting pokemon with a ranger or mystery dungeon game instead of main title color game
This video helped me realize a tiny toy I had as a child was a digimon toy, when I don’t think I ever had any other digimon toys and this toy looked like part of a set. It was this tiny plastic Gummymon, which I learned the name of after noticing a digimon who looked exactly like it in Jaiden’s video. For years I thought it was a Pokémon that went with this tiny Polly Pocket-style pocket playset sold by Pokémon
If you're looking to recapture that, there's a cool line of digimon X vpets out rn and they're like 20 bucks a pop.
Think they were talking about a color screen version, but I haven't checked in a bit.
A grindy maze without a map seems like absolute hell
thing is, in her edited gameplay video for it on her 2nd channel, she showed that she found out later that there was an option to look around on the map. But because she was playing on an emulator she didnt think of using a touchpen to save herself the time to not run into every possible corner of the mazes. But even without that, the map system is atrocious or rather the maze system in itself because what fucking numbskull thought that designing over 90% of a game was about building dead ends to waste people's playtime to artifically extend playtime?! This would games from the 80s or 90s do but not something as evolutionary as a mid 2000s DS game! D:
As a digimon fan Jaiden's reaction didn't surprise me. I love Dusk, I still remember my first team from when I was like a teen, GranKuwagamon, Dianamon, and Lilithmon. Taking the time to plan and grind was satisfying in a way most games aren't. (I think I also had a Dragon Ultimate in the back with Myotismon but that I'm not as sure on)
But it's not beginner friendly, it's not 'plug and play', and the game itself will not work with you, YOU work with it or you don't work at all. Comparing the Digimon games with Pokemon games just never works out.
As an avid fan of the “Monster Catcher” genre, I LOVE the aspect of collecting and cataloguing beasties. Pokémon, Digimon, Yokai Watch, Fossil Fighters, Fighting Foodons… I’m probably the crazy one here. I want more monster catcher games that aren’t just Pokémon. More creatures, more robots, more magic things, I need them in my life.
With that in mind it’s always confused me why there’s even a “Pokémon vs Digimon” debate in the first place. It’s a chance to grow your collection of beasties even bigger than it was before! More beasties, more dinosaurs and ghosts and weird ones that are literally just a guy with a helmet and a gun, more shitty yellow rats! As long as their interesting.
The way you're explaining evolution paths at the very end makes me want to look at it from an information hoarder and lover of all things "with dials and knobs and levers and switches" (I still play DND 3.5), but as a person playing the game it sounds like nightmare fuel without the collective memory of the internet to help.
Digimon World was a nightmare for it, without a guide you just kinda throw things at the wall until they stick the way you like
Cyber Sleuth is at least kind enough to show you every evolution path and the requirements to get there so it’s still got the fun of the “finding the perfect path” but at least gives you a road map
@@tionysus. Ouch, that's rough. Smells of the same padding a lot of early games had with "just make it harder" so you got your money's worth of play time. The original legend of Zelda had this a bit and it encouraged people with the time to make their own maps and guides, but with the advent of the internet and gamefaqs it seems a bit silly to try and hide the information from the player.
At least they added a road map latter on. Might not have made getting to the goals any easier, but at least you knew where the sticky spots on the wall were rather than blindly tossing.
I kind of like the surprise evolution mechanic. You have 2-4 evolution path and choose one hoping it won't suck, also try to guess from its silhouette.
That's why I also like sd gundam games.
@@Slade951 I know in the SD gundam games you get to see a preview of the stats as well, not sure if that is also the case with Digimon. Likewise there is the development section in the gallery that can help with figuring out how to develop something if you've seen it.
@@zachelkins1229 you should definitely try out cyber sleuth. If you don't care about story just play hacker's memory because it has bigger roster.
As another person who knows nothing about digimon and loves pokemon, I have to say Im glad the fandoms aren't constantly fighting anymore. I once knew a kid online who absolutly hated me because i was a pokemon fan lol. It took her half a year to understand that I have no opinion on digimon and don't hate it and she ended up like jaiden, she looked at some pokemon, found a few favorites and started accepting their coexsistance. good memories

Yeah, as a Pokémon fan, simply *hearing* about Dusk/Dawn scares me.
It is so ingrained into *every* Pokémon game, whether mainline, sequel, even spin-offs, to teach the player how to Pokémon. It starts you out by explaining what Pokémon are and the first city you go to has numerous tips and info bits. It is so regular, that Pokémon fans *complain* about GameFreak not allowing veterans skip the handholding and tutorial section of the game.
And here’s a *pair* of Digimon games that explain to you *nothing* simply because “they’re sequels.” This experience is why GameFreak *always* has the handholding tutorial section of their games. And I will *never* complain about it again.
I haven't played digimon myself, but this reaction as the energy of someone watching a train crash but being unable to stop it, and that's pretty funny to me.
Yeah...notice how he grimaces when she says she decided on Digimon Dawn...that is the face of "Oh...this is gonna hurt for her so bad"...I felt real similar when I watched cause I actually owned the Dusk version back in the day. I KNEW Jaiden made a bad choice and that it was all downhill from there as far as "Starter Digimon Game" choices go.
You know that feeling of when you watch a horror movie and you scream at a obviously doomed character "Don't go in there!"
That must have been how you felt lol
Them “Digimon games are good”
Also them “I’ve blocked out 95% of them from my memory because of how bad they are”
What?
Yeah that's so weird.
The Pokémon fanbase tends to have the opposite problem with many fans not being critical enough, but at least we all know the gist of every game that came out, at least the core series.
If you easily forget most games in a franchise because of how bad or frustrating they were, I fear your videogame franchise has a very big problem.
A few years ago I tried playing Digimon World Dusk and gave up on it very soon, it really is so messy and confusing and doesn't allow the player to understand what the heck is going on and take their time to learn, or even just to *appreciate* what the game has to offer.
There's no real progression, it just feels like a bunch of weird stuff glued together by boring grinding and forgettable side quests.
@@xxAryAryxx ok but dusk is within some peoples top 5 digimon games, it is among the best and you say it’s unplayable.

I love how Bamco is moving forward with the 3 game formula(World/Story/Survive) but whomever told Jaiden to start with the DS titles was a sadist!
Nah, they just did it wrong. Both Jaiden and whoever suggested dawn instead of world DS. World DS is actually super easy to get into. And Jaiden seems to have done very VERY poor research on the topic
Something tells me she intentionally looked for the game that was the least friendly to newcomers because it would make for an interesting video and also on the internet nobody likes it when someone praises Digimon over Pokemon lmao
This is pretty much my journey. I'm a lifelong Pokemon fan. I played Digimon World Championship and somewhat enjoyed it despite it being nothing but grind. I played Dawn/Dusk and... yeah. I didn't hate it, it was just... boring. Grind without substance. I played Re:Digitize and liked it a fair bit... though only with a guide... and even then I got lost. And the whole "your pokemon will die in a few days and you'll have to grind everything from the start again" thing just made me go as fast as possible, I was speedrunning the game in my very first playthrough... and while I enjoyed the story, the game is not as fun as I expected. I suspect all the kids that had nothing but Digimon World to play in their free time have Stockholm Syndrome.
Digimon used to have the better anime while Pokemon had the better games... but now Cyber Sleuth seems to be "the good one" and I'm looking forward to playing it (when I can afford, lol). And despite my complaints about Re:Digitize; I'm sure I'll play it again someday... I just need a lot of free time and the right mindset to do it. Can't wait for Next Order to be on PC soon.
You played re: digitize completely wrong. You're not supposed to speed through it because your Digimon is gonna die, you're supposed to explore the world at your own pace. And when a Digimon dies it actually gets a stat boost from its previous life and it's an opportunity to experiment with new paths and learn new techniques.

i used to be super into Digimon as a kid i need to get back into it
Exactly what happened to me after watching Jaiden's video. I stopped watching digimon anime and playing the games at around 8. Now I'm 19 and currently playing Digimon World DS and catching up with recent games.
I remember playing through both Dawn and Dusk, i even beat the post game quests in Dusk. The encounters happened far to often and the mazes were a pain, but i still kept playing, because it was Digimon. I have been a fan of Digimon ever since i was a kid, but sadly i barely ha any Digomon games that i could find in my country. My first Digimon game was World 1, which i barely played, since i didn't know what to do, then i played World 4, which was...something. After some years, i learned about World DS and Dawn/Dusk. I played World DS through an emulator and had fun, but sadly i wasn'T able to beat the final boss at the time, because i didn't understand the use of items in the game yet. Dawn and Dusk i played afterwards and would end up getting copies of them for my DS, and i did at least enjoy them at the time that i played them, not my favorites, but i at least had some fun with them, although i did need a lot of patients to get through them xD. Later on i learned about Cyber Sleuth when i decided to look up new Digimon games and i ended up pre-ordering it after seeing the trailer for it, getting very hyped, and to this day, Cyber Sleuth and Hackers Memory remain as my favorite Digimon Games.
Hell yes they are
I have no idea about Digimon but I really enjoyed this video. Also: Have never played a Digimon game but I have listened to the Cyber Sleuth OST a lot! If I had to pick up one game it would be Cyber Sleuth for the amazing soundtrack alone and now I only feel confirmed in my choice

Also take into account that she didn’t add any other digimon to her team because she didn’t know that was a option
If you have to wipe SEVERAL of your favorite franchises games from your memory. I just feel sorry for you
For Pokémon most we have to repress is bdsp and maybe x and y.
@@kasendaniel3896 lmao, people try to wipe gen 2, 3, 4 and 5 as well. Not to mention 7 and 8. Most pokemon fans fucking hate pokemon.
@@fullmetal_3961cause we’re fucking toxic that’s why
i mean, she clearly didn't watch the anime, she doesn't know what the digiworld is as she expected to find something resembling the real world, and wanted something more like pokemon, while the anime is really a lot more like persona, like digimon change evolution based on emotion
As someone that hadn't played a single digimon game until like 6 months ago, i can understand the confusion of not knowing where to start (which is basically what kept me away from the games for so long)
Then, one day, i just decided to start out of nowhere with world 1 because it seemed really weird from the outside and that caught my attention, played all the way through it without a guide (expect at the very end, because i was looking at stat requirements to not get an Andromon for the 3th time) and i really enjoyed all the little surprises and progression the game has.
Continued then with cyber sleuth, the story seemed pretty decent for most of the game until a particular moment that was "oh... they are gonna do THAT, huh?...", the gameplay was really fun and the digipedia helped me learned some more of the lore of digimon (which kinda fried my brain, but hey, that's fine)
And the last digimon game i played was re:digitalize because i wanted an experience like world 1 and didn't liked how next order looked visually. Didn't really liked that one.
That Monzimon face is gonna haunt me in my nightmares
Truly incredible how she chose the literal bottom of the digital barrel.
So glad this popped up in my recommended, I really wanted to know what Digimon fans thought. Honestly though you kind of sold me on Cyber Sleuth too, I always wanted to get into digimon as a kid but had no idea how, so I might just try it out~
I completely blanked for a few seconds on the 3 types of digimon when you mentioned it about Cybersleuth and I'm working my way through the game right now. I got stuck on the Plant Fire Earth attributes which have much smaller roles than the actual data types.
Why is nobody talking about Digimon adventure on psp? I think it's the best game to introduce Digimon since it follows the anime and explain all Digimon basics
the issue and why no one talks about it is because its a japan exclusive on the PSP a consol that did not do well
It's better to start with one of the animes I think if you're actually wanting to get into to Digimon, but nice ye Digimon is wicked , hope she gets into it
I like how most digimon fans when they realized she picked dawn were like "oh no"
With Pokemon it has one mainline game series with a few spinoffs and has the games as the keystone of the franchise upon which the rest of the franchise is built. The amount of canons is few and more or less compatible with each other in some degree keeping things tidy.
Meanwhile Digimon has more canons than a battleship that most of are not at all compatible with each other and games in that franchise are an afterthought. Even the game style varies all over the place as seen by all the differences in the World games Jaiden pointed out!
So I can get why Jaiden was absolutely clueless in navigating the Digimon fandom.
TOTALLY not me playing ACNH while watching this and accidentally being stung by wasps.
Imagine, jumping in to a franchise, and you get that. I feel so bad for Jaiden T^T
Bro starts out by saying every single digimon game is good. I can see just how OBSESSED this man is with digimon and the way he is SO DEFENSIVE of the franchise is so hard to watch and then when Jaiden points out every awful part of the game Tionysus just starts saying ''Pfft yeah this game is bad'' BRO WAS SO CONFIDENT OF EVERY GAME. I'm not a hater but it's so hard to see this obsessed man in full defense and denial over something so horribly made. :/
I was so worried when I saw her video. I love both franchises, and I hoped she would like Digimon. But yeah, Digimon lacks a strong core like Pokémon’s main line games, and as such it is kinda all over the place, especially in the early years. I too thought she should have played Cyber Sleuth, but maybe now she will. That game helped me get back into Digimon, and it’s very polished especially next to Dawn/Dusk. (Also, don’t most fandoms have arguments over what’s best? But whatever. She walked away loving MegaSeadramon!)
"why is agumon blue?"
sir that is a Snow Agumon i expect better from a DigiTuber
Love how this boils down to "i tried to find a good game to start with, and i was WRONG." Do i like to see people have a bad first dive-in? No. Id love to see either a good time or at least something painless that gets them into things. But does it make for good content? ABSOLUTELY.
I'd say the best starting point for a Digimon fan is to get into the TV show, it explains Digimon well, and it's not taken too seriously for the most part. Also, Kickass theme song.
I remember playing Digimon World DS in my highschool days and enjoyed it even if the story kinda dragged and the dungeons were a little mazey. I unfortunately had to drop it RIGHT AT WHAT I ASSUME WAS THE FINAL BOSS because I didn’t realise until then was that the Digimon level requirements for their final evolution was LARGER THAN THEIR CAP.
And how you increase their cap is to de-evolve them then evolve them again. Over and over. And I had not been doing that. I tried going in with my team as was but got my ass kicked every single time. So white flag was in. But I enjoyed my time regardless.
I thought I’d like Dawn/Dusk because the artstyle was practically the same (and I’ve now learnt it’s basically a sequel to World) but like Jaiden, I didn’t like the lack of direction and got lost after saving my teammates.
I'm sorry you need to what? That is the most ass backwards thing I ever heard
It's "Sprawling open Digital world" except all the stages are mazes, so you have a world map and you pick one area to explore every time.
Digimon is a fucking pain to get into and I absolutely despise it for that. I don't really hold it against the franchise itself, it just gets on my nerves so goddamn badly with stuff like that
Edit: I've only played Dawn like Jaiden, and I absolutely fucking did not get anywhere as far as Jaiden.
No you’re absolutely right. I got into it so easily cause it was my favourite series when I was young so I would have played anything Digimon and claimed it was the best lmao, but there’s been some stinkers. Luckily Cubersleuth is very accessible for everyone with solid tutorials on how everything works
I'm with Tionysus, Cyber Sleuth is a safe, entertaining bet to play if you wanna try getting into the series. It's not a Pokemon clone but it still has fun battle mechanics and monster collecting.
Her: **reveals her choice**
Him: **winces**
The Agumon in question is SnowAgumon
Also, my first Digimon game besides Battle on GBA was the PSP version of Season 1 that was fan translated
"and secondly........... absolutely you got tricked" I'm fucking dying, that was hilarious!
This is genuinely my favorite reaction ever, i love the commentary and absolutely adore how you talk.
jaiden: until then, digimon fans, seek therapy.
Tionysus: WAY AHEAD OF YOU JAIDEN.
*hol' up*
Now I know the best torture device: a badly made digimon game
When someone says "ignore all of these" you can tell you're not missing much
i actually like dawn and dusk i think its fun but i also loved "shin megami tensei dark version and light versions", as well as the "gbc titles".
of which i have been told makes me kind of a "freak of nature".
why is agumon blue? because he's called snow agumon
he's a aqua off shoot of the pyro agumon line
there are alot of thouse black gatomon and mikemon being my favorites.
black gatomon is a "beast type virus" version of the normally "light type vaccine" gatomon and mikemon is well hard to expline unless you've seen xcross wars.
it's open with load times digital world
9:15 Digimon World 4 is actually a good game if you have friends to play it with. It is not the best game ever, but it was a ton of fun when I was a kid. Though that could be nostalgia talking.
What's weird is that Cyber sleuth doesn't have a deep and long story as Persona 5 it has a story like games she already cover on those Pokemon spin offs
And it’s a baffling story that’s great for content.
However, who the fuck am I to question Jaiden Animations literally ever 😂
Its Digimon, whatever digimon has to offer is going to be more complicated than Pokemon in Jayden’s eyes. No matter how simple it is
@@Freezient Unlike Pokemon, you can't just play it casually then figure out the complicated stuff later on. You can play all the games without really fully knowing the type combos. If you really wanna get into it you gonna need to learn things such as EVs, IVs, Natures, Egg moves, etc. Digimon in my opinion is just not a beginner friendly.
@@zacmayes2802 I agree, though you can still play Cyber Sleuth casually and not read any of the dialogues, if you get lost, then always go to either Mirei or Kyoko to remind you what you’re suppose to be doing.
Also that’s the thing about it though, everytime someone (usually a pokemon fans) dive into a digimon, they always expect it to be like pokemon and not treat it like any other games that are not pokemon. Dawn/Dusk was my very first introduction to JRPG and I agree with most of things that Jayden said, but at least she had and read some guidance and she still had a hard time, while I was a teenager playing it without any guides and just wings everything and manage to go pretty far
To be fair, it's really hard for anyone anywhere on the internet to agree on anything.
As someone who's first digimon game was cyber sleuth, it's pretty difficult for newcomers. God forbid you forget what you were supposed to do or set the game down for a day or two, finding where you're supposed to go is so difficult.
At least remembering to talk to Kyoko (or Pete), Mirei, or check the case option on the menu can help get you back on track.
ok now no hate, but it's kinda funny because this guy said at the very start of the video "all digimon are good" and later in the video starts talking about bad digimon games
To be honest i think data Squad for the ps2 is a fairly safe entry to set yourself into it hold you hand in the beginning and tge story pretty stright forward
I love the fact that the second he recommended cyber sleuth, everyone knew what was coming
I've been a digimon fan since the tamagotchi came to australia in the late 90s(?) and have played pretty much every game....outside of the PS1 and most of the PS2 ones, because I come from a big family and my perants got us nintendo 64 and gamecube because of the 4 players.
I wanna say I finished Digimon world Dusk but it's been sooooooooo many years since I played it when it forst came out I honestly don't know.
As someone who loves both Digimon and Pokemon and had a childhood of both shows, I feel like the easiest way to learn WHAT a Digimon actually is and the base lore behind the world is actually the anime.
I remember playing Digimon World on the PS1, there was always that one bathroom that you juuuust missed after a day of training 😂 I was incredibly young back when I played that though, so, I never got very far on my own.
I always kind of hoped they'd remake that game, like down to a T, recreate it, but from my knowledge that sadly never happened.
Yeah no there has never been a true hd remake of the game. There are games like Digimon World Next Order and Digimon World Re:digitize that are similiar to the tamagotchi and battle style of world. But never a true upgrade to the Original Digimon World by bandai.
Damn, You're blowing bro Noice.. I'm really decided whether I start uploading Pokemon
Dude, i played Luna on the ds and dropped it after a few hours because I just couldn't take new encounters every two steps (literally), it was unbearable
Don't exaggerate. It's every 3 steps.
"Angewomon is always the answer"
ah I see you are a man of culture as well
Bro said that digimon was better than pokemon and I almost threw my phone at the wall as a fight or flight reaction
That’s the kind of passion I like to see
I'm still in shock that she actually called herself a "bitch"! literally pure shock!!!
As a digimon fan who started with the ds games the first one is way better then Dusk/Dawn imo. Still not great though. Digimon world championship is unironically one of my fave digimon games its rlly chill. No story or anything just raising digimon and trying to get specific digivolutions. Its super fun for me to 100% too. You might need a couple guides the get the mons you need but its fun for me. Idk if thats an unpopular opinion or not. Cyber sleuth is still my fave of course tho.
Digimon World Championship is great fun. So long as you have the mind set of just being a huge Tamagotchi simulator. Love the thing to chill and see what I get by doing things. Also them fighting. I love being a digipapa to a small army.
"i think... i chose the wrong game"
"YES"
I think the anime is probably an easy entry into the series if you have time to watch a show. I haven’t seen the remake of Adventure, but I know it has some changes so I’m hesitant to say to watch that first. Original Adventure is great and will flow into 02 and Tri and finally Last Evolution more nicely as all of those were made with original Adventure in mind.
I got this game from my uncle when I was younger, and eventually I found it too complicated and had to call it quits. But in my child brain I had a very clear-cut idea: "okay, so, like, maybe, umm, in a few years when I'm like better at games or something, I can maybe come back and umm, know what I'm, like, need to do."
And I did! I had a blast, and beat the game. Now, instead about being confused about aptitude and special EXP I'm trying to wrap my head around DNA sliding.
I played battle, world four, and cyber sleuth. I love the games I miss Digimon battle the MMORPG
I love that she spent almost 4 minutes talking about searching for the best digimon game only to willingly ignore everyone's advice and land on this nightmare of a game instead lmfao
Lol Digimon Dawn was my first digimon game too. Cyber sleuth didn't exist yet. I have a love/ hate relationship with it, it was cool seeing all the digivolutions and progress made over time. Not going to lie the mazes and the simplistic maps were too similar looking and confusing. I feel her pain as about getting lost. I remember particularly hating missions set in the ocean map or the sewers map. I some what got a feel for where to go slowly.
I was a pokemon fan first, I only started having playstation at PS3. My DS was my main gaming console for a long time, I didn't have to fight to use the TV like with game like Sonic Adventure 2. So seeing Digimon Dawn on the discount rack / my curiousity was irresistible. Digimon always had the more interesting cartoon. I was curious what the games were like.
My favorite Digimon game is Hackers Memory. The main character looks like hes crazy or high because if his eyes. IGiving him a goofy name is obligatory. XP
Whoever recommended Story/Dusk/Dawn as a first Digimon game should be shot behind a corner
Who in thier sane mind says that when Cybersleuth/Hacker's Memory, Next Order or Re:Digitize exist?
Hell, the OG Digimon Worlds are better
I've never played any of the digimon games before but I've seen some anime stuff. I'll definitely try the one you recommended.
The game jaiden played reminds me quite a bit of Megaman Battle Network. It has random encounters and sometimes maze-like maps but at least there's no grinding or at least I didn't experience any from all the ones I played.
"Cause it's better"
Keep telling yourself that.
