I know this track is about Joe and his mastery on the Guitar but heck. Jeff Campitelli. What a drummer. Guy just know how to hold a groove and let the band do their thing. Hamds down one of the most grooviest drummers of all time One of my all time favourites.
Been listening to him since Surfing. Him and Steve Vai. Steve Vai since Flex-able. They both have always taken me to a different place. For the period of time that there is one of their songs playing, I can lower my blood pressure and truly relax.
I'm still transmuting over Joe not having a zillion subscribers. In My WORLD he Does. My own mom couldn't handle Joe's vibration while I heard him in 90's and as soon as my husband saw my face after hearing one song he went and bought me my 1st Joe Satriani album. I saw Joe at Filmore, I think I was one of 4 women there. Coolest show ever he walked out like a Silver Alien. :)))))
That's funny about being 1 of 4 women. Reminds me of when I tried to turn my gf onto Dream Theater by showing her a live DVD. First thing she says: "It's all dudes!" Yeah, ok, so..., pay attention to the music, HONEY (I had to call her that anytime I needed to get her attention!)
@@gr8guitarplayer Seems like you had her attention. She was watching the damn thing with you. No need to degrade her while you're at it. And to completely ignore her observation. You're kind of sick.
@@krisitantobias My point is, lots of people still see him first and foremost as a virtuoso. This is simplistic, as he is both a great musician and composer.
There are many great guitar players and heroes, but for myself Satch is and will always be the best. He and my older brother inspired me to start playing guitar 28 years ago. He can play whatever he wants and in any style he chooses. He has mastered his craft.
I have the honor of owning the guitar shown in this video, thanks to the outstanding instinct and great honor of the creator of this instrument, who released this beauty into the global market.
When I bought my first guitar I paid $16.00 for one half hour, at the Fret House in Covina California with Less Johnson. Now; Less is a smoking bad-ass blues player, but; I did not progress vary well with hem, but; I'd pay twice that to be in his presence to day. However; one night, I walked into a 7-11, in Upland California, and there on the magazine rack was; "Guitar World Magazine with Joe Satriani on the cover. There was a Clear plastic cover over the Magazine and a back Bord, with a C-D inside and 4-hours of guitar lessons from the man himself. I'll say this; Joe Satriani is not only a great performer, but; he is one of the beast guitar teachers in the whole world. I started to progress vary quickly with his instructions. The reword came when I was practicing some scale exercises, when a total stranger said; "I can listen to you play all day", and that was one of the most inspirational experience I have-ever-had, with many more to follow.
These great moments are what we take away from life really. I invested in guitar gear but could never really break the ice to fully learn it, gonna guess guitar is not for me then, but I will never forget when I was visiting this friend and he had a drumkit ready to go in the living room, I had never played drums before, my friend plugged his bass into an amp with slightly distortion going on and we start JAMMING for the next 40 minutes or so, it felt like we were composing sections to songs on the fly and I was able to dictate the direction the music was going through the drums. I still remember how that felt, it was truly magical, I had my hands shaking for the next hour out of the pure dopamine release, I don't think there's any substance that can replicate that intensity. I have played sports, travelled, played videogames, dated all kinds of chicks, but there's something that only music can bring out of you, there's really nothing else that comes quite close out there. Pure magic.

9:40 first time I notice this and I've seen this video countless times - he blows on the strings at the end, and you can actually hear the blow, it makes a slight difference. My god
Well done Joe! This is the way to go: epic tracks, that disregard the superficial musicality of arena-rock-radio-rock singles and their 3 minute silly imposition. Instead 10 or 15minutes epic tracks with a profound theme, a catchy bass riff, and 100 variations crammed into those 10/15 m.
