@@Fuck_handles The rhythm guitar makes a big difference tbf especially in the world rock and metal. But the three managed to make a good rock/metal song without it.
I love Petrucci and Satriani. Satriani can write tens of mind boggling songs, more than Petrucci can. But I don't think Satriani would be able to come up with something like this monster of an improvised Glasgow Kiss solo.
JP and MP are no doubt the legends but the bass player is equally killing it. The way it doesn't sound empty between guitar and drums is because this guy is filling that space with some really nice basslines. crazy!!
the mix is off though lol i know this song and i know how the bass sounds, so i know exactly what you mean, but right this moment i'm listening without headphones and can confirm, it sounds empty between the guitar and drums without the bass being audible
@@toddritter5638 what about Stu Hamm? If you are saying the bassist performing with Petrucci is Hamm then you are mistaken. I know who Stu Hamm is. I have his solo stuff and have seen him live many times, mostly with Satriani. He is another incredibly talented bassist who doesn’t get enough recognition.
Lead guitar and drums yes yes but Let us all appreciate and massage the bassist's fingers for playing the entire song without rest. You know thats legit hard.
Each times I come back to listen to this song it manages to give me chills. John Petrucci is something else on the guitar, a true maestro at work. The sound of that guitar solo is just incredibly clean and stricking. 👌
I heard a small bit of this song and thought, “I like Glasgow.” And “I like to play guitar.” Then I listened to this video, and thought: 🥺 What a player.
I saw them in 2002 in the first G3 that John Petrucci joins, but not so close to this performance. I remember because the end of his gig, something happened in the John's gear, in the medley "Paradigm Shift/Erotomania", that start the song again.
From all the G3 concerts I saw (Live and DVD), JP's solo is simply the best! From 6:29 I went crazy! 😍🎸👌JP on 🔥 Also respect to the great bass and drums player
One of the best solo of JP. You played it very well man! Your student must have been very impressed! Keep it up! Looking forward for more dream theater stuffs!

Best version of Glasgow Kiss ever. I keep coming back to this version.
Yes
Who is the original version by?
Yeah! And with the best drummer. This version that took me to the album, I met her first.

Exactly ❤️🙏
There's actually quite a bit more than one drum there.
Because other bands have 2 basses and 12 drums?
I mean they do have 12 drums
Indeed

That improvised solo might just be one of the best things I've ever heard. So much feel, precision, and melodic mastery.
Fully agreed

Improvised? Of course not, even if it is totally different from the studio version. This doesn't mean he is not a beast anyway
This performance got me into guitar playing.
It made me quit.
Me too. John motivated me from the start
@@moustachio334 I picked up the guitar after stopping playing for 6 years when I heard this song. Man, it's so inspirational.

Best guitarist of all time.
Fact
One of them, Van Halen, Vai, Satriani, Morse, ecc ecc
LaRue doesn’t get enough recognition in my opinion. He is an excellent talent on the bass.

I still play that chord progression all the time but your'e right how it transition is amazing.

I'm sure he has massive callouses on the tips of his fingers from playing all the time. That makes the job easier.

I wore this G3 VHS out as a kid
Just the single note change at 4:34 really made that lick fantastic. I love the original too, but that is so satisfying to me
Best version of this song. The improvisation to this song is just mind blowing.
Personally I think he was at his peak here. Great player.

I was a high school kid, trying to learn a few scales on guitar 😢
I was in 4th grade, knowing nothing about music except few Hindi songs because of radio 🙃

My favorite performance of this. I have watched this thousands of times
Not a soul mentioning 1:53. That phrasing is celestial.
That s also in the original song, thats why I believe it is not being commented on, but yeah, delightfull stuff
mesa amps just have that pleasant snarling sound to them that you can really hear in the chorus of this song
MP fills in is just purely gorgeous. Compliments the song well.
My fav G3 performance ever!
I heard this song live in Barcelona and it blew my mind, it's really incredible. G3 rules
