The game started with Freya trying to kill Kratos and Atreus with an avalanche. She tried "to bring down the mountain" essentially. And now we're going through dwarf mines. I think someone at Santa Monica Studio is a Lord of the Rings fan.
The 2 best quality of life changes in Ragnarok is that you can travel to any door in any realm from any other door and you don't immediately get on chains you kick down.
Gosh, the reintroduction of the Huldra Brothers is one of my favorite parts of this game. They are full on brothers again, friends and family in one. They live together, they work together. They even joke together, still while getting in each other's hair. But the best part is everyone is meeting up again. It is like that one group of friends you made in high school who gets to meet up after starting their new jobs across the country. Just warm, feels like the old times, but is completely fresh.
And the open world has been reached! One thing that’s different in this game compared to god of war 2018, is that the side quest add a lot to the overall game story, if you have the time, I recommend doing them when able to. The overall game in a lot larger, and there are roughly 50 side quests.
Correct! While in the first game there were less side-quests, they assume you have done them in this game. This game builds upon those previous side quests and flesh out more of the world and characters in them. Highly recommend exploring in this game over the 2018 one. The world is bigger, but also easier to navigate, in my opinion.
Yes...panic does nothing, she must harnest it let it server her, use it to fuel her focus. Ik I'm memein but it do be like that when u play, once it clicks n u understand it's rewarding.
If anyone needs a snack and a pep talk it's Kratos! Also to be fair, Loki isn't a paragon of altruism in the best of circumstances but he's also not evil, he does terrible things but also great things. Just a guy who likes screwing with people but often goes too far
The shield that broke was the one that Faye gave to kratos, that is why it is important to him, if you listened to the dialogue you would've heard atreus say it.
Hell yea now my day just got better I hope you two are having a wonderful day and thank you this helps a lot and I can’t wait to see your reactions lol
Maybe after you finish this game you should move on to 'Detroit become human', one of it's kind game. You should try it. BTW really like your videos 😊 Keep up the good work 🤟
So, a _little_ bit of non-spoilery background on Kratos and Faye's relationship. Kratos arrived in the Northlands roughly 117 years ago, and lived in the woods in isolation while suffering his depression. Kratos met Faye 42 years ago, and they had a brief fight because they were both warriors wary of strangers. The fight ended as soon as it began because they could both tell that neither of them wanted to fight, but lasting even a few moments against Kratos should tell you that Faye was a very powerful fighter. They were informally married at some point over the next five years and built the cabin together, having Atreus 22 years later. It's unknown if Faye knew exactly who Kratos was meant to be when they met, but she likely figured it out at some point because she knew the giants' prophecy. Over the years she broke down his walls and learned of his past, while assumedly Kratos didn't dig too deep into hers because he understands how painful it can be. What he _did_ learn of her past turned out to be half-truths, in any case. Also, Atreus once asked Kratos how he didn't realize Faye wasn't human after spending so many decades with her and seeing no change, and Kratos responded by saying "When you have lived for centuries, tell me again what a decade here or there feels like." Basically he says that he's _so damn old_ that he doesn't see the passage of time the same way anymore.
@@JustQuibbs Very little of that was from the games, which is why it's non-spoilery. The majority of this comes from the book "God of War: Lore and Legends" which is Atreus' journal from the first game, but completed one year into Fimbulwinter (written from Atreus' perspective, published by Dark Horse in collaboration with the writers of GoW 2018). There's a section where he gives us a pretty solid timeline of events that he put together with help from Kratos and Mimir. This is how we know, for example, that Atreus is canonically 12 during the journey to Jötunheim (while prior to this the devs hadn't decided anything concrete beyond "10-12ish") or that Baldur was 144 at the time of his death. There's also a whole section in the beginning where Atreus recalls a bunch of his memories with his mother that I think would be worth the purchase by itself. I'd definitely recommend the book to anyone that loves these games. I got my copy from Amazon, but there _are_ PDFs available online if people prefer not to spend the money.
I listen to a lot of videos with headphones while I work, including yours, and you sound a lot like a narrator reading an audio book, or a voice actor. I know you're just enjoying games and having fun, but have you ever thought about maybe taking a class or two in voice acting and harness that talent? I bet you'd do great
I’d love to do voice acting. I try to make the readings from the lore and things like it in any game a little more dramatic/characterized because I feel like that gives the best experience for everybody. Thank you so much! -K
The only advice Id give you for this game, is use ur🔺️ attacks flame whip has distance n will stun almost all enemies at the start of a combo sequence, it lets you interrupted em or attack someone behind u, also anytime u fight a boss n want to use a runic attack, sadly u gotta follow the 2 sequence rule. Like the valkyries last games, sometimes u gotta wait for them to so 2 full combos on you then do ur runic. There are guaranteed stuns depending on the enemies that let u use ur runic immediately after, hard part is learning.....n to do that u gotta get hurt lol 😆, but as long as u have a strong composure youll be good. Last thing id say dont be afaird to dodge but dont rely on it sum enemies punish you for dodging too much or they combo n its hard to rapid dodge, you gotta stun em or parry, again depending on the attack u can punish the boss or enemies, with 🔺️ attacks. I think in this game the triangle attacks help you interrupt alot of enemies , if u get the 🔺️ imput delay skill it will make u use the attacks faster.
just to clear this up: earlier this playthrough, when the shield broke, it's said by atreus that it was a shield that Faye gifted Kratos, so that's why its "important" to him.
Imagine being forced out of your home, having no place to go, being offered to stay at a friend's place until you find your bearings, for free, and _refusing to wipe your feet._ Imagine not even saying thanks!
The game started with Freya trying to kill Kratos and Atreus with an avalanche. She tried "to bring down the mountain" essentially. And now we're going through dwarf mines. I think someone at Santa Monica Studio is a Lord of the Rings fan.
Pretty sure Lord of the Rings was in part inspired by Norse mythology. So I can see the resemblance
Not only ARE there ravens in this game, you actually get some sweet armor unlocks for finding as many of them as possible.
Sindri: Anybody need a snack? Kratos? Snack?
Kratos: I do not need a snack.
Faye used to call me a "snack" I am unsure of what she meant.

I’m admittedly shocked that “Brok, do the touching!” Didn’t get turned into some manner of meme.

The shield was given to Kratos by Faye :)
Atreus stated that when they were climbing a wall after the fight with the huntress. They missed it. All good
Yup, turns out the lore doors are actually lore CABINETS.
Lore wardrobes to NARNIA ~ Cait
@@cait_and_katiwe got witches and wardobes, now all we need is a lion
@DariusFrench6273 we shall get the lion from RDR2.
holy crap she called the skill tree a skrillet! I know where that's from!
Your jokes about your use of the shield really got me. I can't wait to see the next part !
If you don't like to parry with the shield, get the stone wall shield. Great video
Literally my favorite shield
The Huntress is only a taste of what’s to come. Your rage will be tested……exponentially. You may need some snacks.

Wow that horse boss fight very brutal 😱🙀💥
Little fun fact if you pay attention to atraeus’ outfit you can see that he’s wearing Kratos’ old spartan skirt? Kilt? Whatever it’s called
Very good vid as always ladies, love it so far. Also kratos saying he doesn't need a snack will never not be insanely funny.
It was so genuine and pointed at Sindri it was nearly impossible to not laugh. -K
32:02 HA "head first"
56:52 That’d be like her asking when we’re you in Australia and something was trying to kill you? Fl has animals and insects that can kill people.

Another great video ladies. Can't wait to see how your adventure plays out.
remember the r2 r2 r2 combo with blades, cool and efective
Ya this game your definitely gonna need to use your shield
Remember to use Atreus’s arrows
U knw there's lock on botton u can use while fighting also his weapons and outfit can be upgraded
Oh also you have a frost flame you missed remember too upgrade your weapons too!
Just a heads up remember look around and look be more adventurous you’ll find supplies that’ll help you on your journey! 😉😁
And trust me, look hard enough, you’ll find those ravens
I love how many of the interactions in this game are much more casual and, well, Human.
Best writing! Through and Through!
hi Cait and Kati! What weapon do you like better? The blades or the axe?
Not sure yet, honestly. They both have their pros and cons. I do prefer the amount of enemies I can hit at once with the blades, however. -K
Atreus: "I like the axe."
Kratos: "I... like the axe too."
Mimir is basically magic Siri with oi instead of ai. There needs to be a Mimir ai app!
We love Svartalfheim, and it's great and sindris. How's yggdrasil
38:08 Pots and pans, pots and pans
This game will make you use shield! Mark it.
Kratos does not need snacks, he needs meals
I do hope that Valkyrie stream is still happening
This weekend 😉 Scheduled for saturday!
@@cait_and_kati Hel yea!!
18:45 "one of us" between Freya and Kratos c'mon... how'd you misread that one lol
Okay as tired as I was, I have no clue how I misread that either. Thank you for clearing that up lol -K
You forgot to upgrade the axe
It’s been a while since I played Ragnarok; there is a lock-on feature in this game right?
I’m fairly certain, yeah. -K
