That's kinda what hits hard for me. He knew deep down that Atreus was correct with that statement. It's no joke to say that Kratos and Atreus gained more than just friends in the 9 Realms. They made deeper connections that were as strong as blood. Sindri and Brok practically treated Atreus like a nephew in the first game, which is what makes the whole ordeal worse. He feels like he was betrayed by someone he really trusted, but Atreus IS still a kid to some extent. He has massive responsibility, far more than someone his age should, which adds to the bad decisions he makes. I understand that Sindri is angry at Atreus for Odin killing his brother. But in the end, the fault is on Sindri himself and he knows it.
    - Sindri was the one who designed Mjölnir which killed the giants.
    - Sindri decided to make the Leviathan axe with Brok, which killed Brok the first time.
    - Sindri returned Brok with only 3/4 soul pieces and made it impossible for him to return to the afterlife.
    - Sindri was the one who helped Atreus on his journey.
    - Sindri openly welcomed everyone, INCLUDING Odin-in-disguise to his home.
If anything, Atreus and Sindri's friendship is ruined similar to how Kratos and Freya's was in the last game.

Even he knows it, but isn’t really able to confront it. He’s wrong to be angry at Atrues or Kratos, but it’s understandable. Somewhat. The “leave it to the Dwarfs to clean up after the Giants” and “this more or less what you wanted” are both cold and undeserving lines from him. He’s going to push what family is has left away, and that will be on no one but him.

I think he knows that Atreus isn't to blame, that his trust and kindness weren't abused as Atreus always tried to do right for him. But right now he needs someone to blame. He can't accept that the world isn't as kind as he was. He was forgiven by his brother but it doesn't undo his guilt of what he did. He shattered Odin's soul but it doesn't fill the hole that was left behind. I feel that he is punishing Atreus because he feels that he isn't allowed to have peace while his brother's soul is adrift, and he knows that if he were to take Atreus's kindness he might find peace again and he couldn't live with that.

It pisses me off that we had to baby Atreus through this. This is what war looks like. This is what war does. This is what war costs. And all through this game he has wanted nothing but war with Asgard and Odin. And nobody pointed this out to him, that this is what his war against Odin and Asgard will cost. All war does it take take and take some more. It does not care the side winner or loser. It just takes and takes some more until there is nothing left to take away.
Kratos should have pointed this out better to Atreus as he should know better than anyone what comes of war and what it costs. But him, Freya, Mimir, everyone just constantly encouraged him to pursue war. Instead of seeking an alternative, like Kratos had intended from the very beginning. Only for Kratos to instead change his mind and go along with Atreus plan of war, without properly ingraining it into him that this is his war that he started with Asgard.
Sure Odin did some terrible shit and needed to be brought down and punished. But how many times did Atreus try to find another way that didn't somehow coincide with pushing for a war with Asgard and Odin? I know the game is God of War, but as the only reliable God of War in this setting Kratos did a bad job of teaching what War is to his son and if he did. Then Atreus is a poor student and a poor giant/ god.

    • @xxx_jim_the_reaper_xxx
      @xxx_jim_the_reaper_xxx ปีที่แล้ว +1

The reason why Atreus remains ignorant of the consequences of war is because Kratos is too slow of opening up to his son about his past and his fear of losing his trust which would make him vulnerable to Odin's manipulation.
He hadn't even thought of supporting his own ideals or morals while growing up, he just kept him inside his bubble of protection for the giants knows how long.

    "Being angry won't solve anything!"
No it won't, but what else can you do when you truly lost your only brother and will truly Never see them again? When you are grieving the first thing you personally Need to do is find someone to blame, find some justification as to why your loved one died the way they did when you felt it could have been prevented. He knows it isn't their fault, it's plain to see as he does attempt to protect them in some moments, but that grieving is too fresh to get by as he deals with that gaping hole in his heart as helplessness and regret drags him further into the ground.
There is no 'See you later' when it came to Brok's death. It was flatly a 'Goodbye'. Everyone else has the comfort of possibly seeing their loved ones in the afterlife, or can rest easy knowing they have found peace, but Singri doesn't get to have that.
He brought back Brok without all the pieces of his soul so he's been completely denied an afterlife.
    He's gone.

Unfortunately, his stoic nature means he rarely verbalises this, but again, seeing how Kratos and Sindri interact prior to Brok's death, it's clear that Sindri recognises Kratos's appreciation and had built up a good relationship with him. Tbh, they kept offering the help though. Brok was such a homie that he asked them to stay at their house. Whereas in the beginning before becoming actual friends, Kratos kept trying to keep his distance. And from what it looks like in the beginning of the game, he hasn’t seen them for 3 years. It’s only in this game that Kratos finally opens up to them. So you can’t always use the “you used me” excuse. His brother’s dead yeah, but the “you only ever used me and never gave back” is waaaay off topic from what happened to his Brother.
If anything, he was more mad at Atreus for being immature about Odin. Atreus should’ve reassured everyone better

I don't think it was just Brok's death that caused Sindri to snap. When he was telling Atreus off he mentioned how since they first met he'd given them literally everything he had. And in turn, even though Atreus and Kratos did care for him as a loyal friend and ally, Sindri had also been yelled at, unappreciated, belittled, overused, and even mauled by Bear Atreus and you can see him slowly but surly getting fed up with it all. Then once they inadvertently caused his brother's death, that was the final nail in the coffin that ended their relationship

@@dannyboy4140 He was helping because he cared for them and the thing is Sindri understood the consequences. Atreus did not. Atreus was drunk on prophecy. He was okay with war, he said they should go to war, that there was no reason NOT to do the war because prophecy said they would win in the end. He was over confident and reckless because he was the chosen one, the savior, the hero. He was a kid and he wanted the glory and saving the realms from the big bad super villian. He had direction and purpose. Before he didn't know what to do with his life and then lo' and behold theres a stone tablet saying "go to war" and he believed it 100% because the other tablet he saw basically was a road map of their entire journey in the first game.
Sindri repeatedly told Atreus to be careful, to be skeptical. Even Kratos said they shouldn't trust Tyr right away. Everyone told him not to wish for war. Everyone else understood the consequences of what he was trying to do and the consequences of what he wanted to do. He did not understand those consequences. He never understood what those consequences were.
Then he found out his dad was going to die and he ignored EVERYTHING to undo that. Again, ignoring that every choice he made came at a price. Again, he ignored the people around him telling him to be careful. He ignored it and believed he could just soldier through it because again, he was the chosen one, the hero, the champion.
Atreus has a lot to take responsibility for. Odin is to blame for killing Brok but Atreus isn't blameless in the consequences of what happen.
