I think if they would've cast Christoph Waltz as the special depute (spelling) it would've been a much better movie... It was a great movie don't get me wrong I just believe him to be a far superior actor then Guy Pearce.

Hillcoat and Cave: NEVER to stop making films, ok? Hear me, fucking never. This film blew my mind, what a treat!! Wild and beautiful and merciless and brutal, so heartbreaking and powerful. Amazing actors and cinematography - plus the music, of course.
i was seriously blown away with this movie. like 20 of us saw a late night show and we had the whole theater alone. at one point i looked around at all my friends and you could see all over their faces how captured this movie had us. it was so good.

even though he barely said anything in this movie he was still good, I was surprised at Shia's performance as well I have new respect for his abilities now.
He made that film! His accent and attitude was perfect, especially when he and Tom had scenes together :)
I lived in this area when these men were older..I knew Forrest when I was a small kid. Forrest didnt die in real life as the movie depicted..
Didn't he die in 1965? Wonder why they made it seem like he died young in the movie?
he did die in about 65...it was the result of a stack of lumber falling on him.
Absolutely loved this movie. Tom Hardy and Jessica Chastain were phenomenal. Actually everyones acting was on point. If you haven't watched it I would definitely recommend it.

this movie/novel takes place in Franklin County, Virginia i live about 20 minutes away! My grandmother lives there, it is a beautiful place. i bet every moonshine still that has ever been set up in this country had to be taught the set-up from a franklin county native lol

I remember Tom Hardy from Black Hawk down as Twombly, oh how far he has come.
Have to say, FOREST is Chuck Norris in a past life. He was almost drowned with his platoon in the war, got his neck deeply slit and walked/ran 2 miles, and was shot like 7 times in the body and walked out the hospital later on. He is UNKILLABLE.

Badass movie of you're into the old school western films. Plus tom hardys character is brilliantly played, may be one of the best movies he's acted in. Just please watch this you won't regret it.

"Slight let down"? Are you crazy? This film is a masterpiece - Shia LaBouef is particularly fantastic and the rest of the actors - primo. Loved it! Why wasn't this considered for an Oscar?

My one and only complaint about the movie was that we didn't see enough of Gary Oldman (though even with what we did see he was my favorite character!)
I watched this movie last night for the first time. Shia Lebouf, and Tom Hardy were outstanding!! Tom Hardy was amazing in the movie Legend as well.

Saw this yesterday, and oh my. Love it. Hardy, brilliant. Guy Pearce .... don't think I've despised or been creeped out by a villain like that before. Slightly gutted Gary Oldman's part wasn't bigger. But none the less, fantastic.
After Tome Hardy threw a line about Al Capone, now I really want to see a movie of him playing Al Capone.
I'm one of three brothers who'd deliver and take a bullet for each other. This movie was beyond amazing.
Al Capone was a person and he was well known by the early 1920's. This film is set in 1931. So yeah, that "word" did exist.
Seeing as how my last name is Lawless, I feel like I have a special connection to this movie.
Actually the earliest manufactured semi-auto pistol was the C93 Borchardt designed in 1893, so it is not inconceivable that these types of weapons were avaialble in the 1920's
Thank God that Shia sent the Lawless script to Tom Hardy - otherwise Channing Tatum or Toby Keith would have probably been cast for Forrest. THANK YOU SO MUCH SHIA!!!

Surprisingly good movie! Great acting, impressive pictures, with dramatical fight scenes on the one hand and sensitive, harmonic love scenes on the other hand. Sure a matter of taste, but to my mind an exciting look on a revolutionary era as well as a moving family drama! I especially enjoyed Jessica Chastain's beautiful performance- and Tom Hardy steals it of course!
I'm not gonna lie, seeing Shia get his ass kicked kinda shocked me...never really used to seeing a former Disney star get into any aggressive film. But he did an absolute great job presenting this craft.

I'm From this area where the story takes place... Hardy nailed the part. Folks around these areas have very few words. The look on their face and in their eyes takes up for the lack of communication. It speaks volumes as opposed to regular words. Around here, family is as close as it gets. You mess with family...you mess with the devil. And no joke, I know plenty of folks around here who have been shot and stabbed numerous times and are still kickin' strong. It takes a lot to take down Sw VA man
I was literally on vacation in London when I saw the poster for this movie at some bus/train stops. After reading the names and just seeing the poster, and now watching the trailer... yeah I have to see this movie.

Rumor has it Clint Eastwood and Chuck Norris were going to be in this movie but the cameras kept exploding due to too much badassness, so they decided to only have Guy Pierce, Tomy Hardy, Gary Oldman, and Labeouf in it instead. Shia looks pretty jacked in this movie, usually looks like a skinny teen kid in his movies.

It's really great to see that some film makers are still making movies with interesting characters and brutal, realistic violence. I was beginning to think that every new Hollywood movie was a piece of crap CGI overload.
