Tomo-san, I’m entranced by every aspect of your video. When you said at 10:25 that you had probably already lost 200 people due to the slow pace, I laughed but disagreed. Personally you had me hooked. You really honor the guitar and your students by making these videos. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you so much for the gracious reply. It is definitely not an easy exercise, as you say. There are a lot of details to take note of and apply, and if I do so I’m certain that I’ll improve. Btw, your instructions on minding posture and your apparent enjoyment of the sounds have made it enjoyable rather than a chore. Beauty in simplicity! Huh, I never thought about that regarding the guitar. I’m not from a musical background. Thank you again.
17 years ago when I started playing (youtube taught) this kind of instruction would have made me a much better player but then again 18 year old me would probably not have understood even 1% of what I can glean from this lesson today. Thanks.
This video was exactly what I needed. Electric guitar was a lot more frustrating for me because I was struggling with other strings buzzing and had a hard time figuring out how to properly mute what I didn’t want. Thank you so much! I’m going to start doing this routine every day.

I would love to learn how to play like that with such feel and dynamics! To me when you play it’s like taking a journey down an unpredictable path where the journey is the most rewarding than reaching your destination! Thank you!

With my voice I have total freedom and I can sing whatever comes to mind, but I don't have that same freedom on guitar. Do I just sit in first position and try to play phrases while singing them over and over until it clicks?
You need to prepare with triads so that you can hear basic intervals much clearly. Prepare something, then apply that into music.. then you can practice , play things well. Not easy to process this.
Sorry if this is a dumb question but when playing and muting, should we try to avoid muting the string below? I can’t mute the string above with my index finger while not muting the one below. Also thanks for the amazing video. This was very helpful :)
Chromatic Scale not easy to get it perfect to sound good and the notes to flow right -- how long does it take to get this right all the patterns ????? few months ?
when i take bending and use my fretting hand to mute all the other high strings , the string i press is tend to slip away , does that mean my pressing string method is weird? i must take a loong time to change this for my rake technique,,,
Use both hands to mute any notes that could ring. You can search best techniques that you can use. Less pressure is must. Thank you for sharing! Just hit a note softly without laking.
But hendrix and keith Richard's played all the time like that so they were unbelievably good. Having a solid foundation is key, then you can break the rules
would you say then that rhythm is more important than melody ? weirdly enough I always knew that I can better my tapping or sense of time by just paying more attention but never liked the concept of practice since practice should be connected to everything as well and not just positions and general flexibility

You need to prepare with triads so that you can hear basic intervals much clearly. Prepare something, then apply that into music.. then you can practice , play things well. Not easy to process this.
I think they had you in mind when they made the beetronics vezzpa😮😅
Thank you!
Sorry if this is a dumb question but when playing and muting, should we try to avoid muting the string below? I can’t mute the string above with my index finger while not muting the one below. Also thanks for the amazing video. This was very helpful :)
Please watch this video a few more times! I explained the details in this video. Did you watch this whole video? Thank you!
You don’t wanna be a Rabbit you wanna be a Turttle all the time 🙏🙏🙏
I was cruising the comments and as soon as I crossed your comment tomo said it. Love that
Do you gradually play louder when descending the fretboard on the chromatic?
You should go softer as you go!
Zen guitar question. What is the sound of one hand picking?
Thank you!
will there be a difference between practicing the chromatic scale on acoustic or electric?
Same! Be careful, play super slow!
Chromatic Scale not easy to get it perfect to sound good and the notes to flow right -- how long does it take to get this right all the patterns ????? few months ?
Yes. 90 days! Thank you!
@@TomoFujitaMusic awesome 90 days to practice daily and should get easier
So basically patience is really a virtue
Guitar playing can make people very calm

Nice shirt Tomo
Thank you!
when i take bending and use my fretting hand to mute all the other high strings , the string i press is tend to slip away , does that mean my pressing string method is weird? i must take a loong time to change this for my rake technique,,,
Use both hands to mute any notes that could ring. You can search best techniques that you can use. Less pressure is must. Thank you for sharing! Just hit a note softly without laking.
@@TomoFujitaMusic thank you! Mr. Tomo , i will take an effort to practice.
Hendrix, Keith Richards and countless other pros were playing wrong by daring to move their thumbs to the “wrong” position. Got it.
It's all about choices & Practicing V.S. Performing. Bottomline is good music! It sounds great then all good!
But hendrix and keith Richard's played all the time like that so they were unbelievably good. Having a solid foundation is key, then you can break the rules
Where can I buy that Tshirt?!!!
I will let you know soon!
Don’t worry
Don’t compare
Don’t expect too fast

Thank you!
ASMR playing
Thanks!
would you say then that rhythm is more important than melody ? weirdly enough I always knew that I can better my tapping or sense of time by just paying more attention but never liked the concept of practice since practice should be connected to everything as well and not just positions and general flexibility
Without rhythm... no melody... Somewhat it should have melodic rhythmic sense in your playing. Pure hardwork is always important!
@@TomoFujitaMusic I would like to know your advice on what kind of guitar to buy ( I don't have any and I don't have a lot)?
Side note :
*I used to play before on electric/country, I like every sort of guitar from electric to manouche to acoustic/oud.
I feel like an acoustic would be good (because and I might be wrong, that I am able to transfer the techniques to whatever next guitar). *
Thanks
