Next year, when I’ve paid my debts off, I’m 100% signing up to Guitar Wisdom. I absolutely love your teaching style. I’m going to get a matching t shirt too, as soon as I’m not broke.
Perfect topic!! I’m not in a band and I don’t always want to NEED a looper to feel like I’m making music. Playing unaccompanied has been my goal since I started taking my guitar playing more seriously. THANK YOU for the lesson!
I rarely use my looper. Only when I teach and I needed to demonstrate something or song writing. For soloing, better not to have anything! This way you are FREE to follow any chord progressions you wish. You're very welcome!
This is my favorite topic. As a Drummer, I have sometimes been able to play by myself for dance classes or teaching drum lessons. But most of the time I don’t get to play unless I am playing for a band. I need to play more music, so I restarted myself as a beginner on my ukelele, guitar, vibraphone and piano. The goal is to be able to play / improvise by myself. I found your lessons in early 2024 and I have built my practice routines on the fundamentals as you have consistently shown throughout all of your videos on TH-cam. Chromatic scale, triads, muting, root 3rd 7th, blues,3 levels approach to learning, and 3 levels of dynamics and so much more. GOLD 🔑 Now I am learning to incorporate your teaching style into my drum lessons. You are the best music teacher that I have ever known. Thank you so much for making these videos. One day I will be able to join Guitar Wisdom. 🎸🥁🎹🤩🤙
So happy to hear that! I love drummers! My album PURE has 3 drummers (3 songs each) Steve Gadd, Bernard Purdie and Steve Jordan. My Pure album got James Gadson! Solo performance is challenging and fun! Foundation is the key! Thank you so much!
It’s great that you acknowledged Mr. Mattingly’s work on your Guitar Wisdom videos. It is so helpful and precise and perfect for copying into my own notebook. Great work, George!
Thanks so much! I really appreciate that! George does an excellent job! My right hand man! Guitar Wisdom is our family work! George (My wife 's older brother) and Sammi (my daughter) We have our meeting every Monday!
Awesome topic! I have no interest in playing in a band. I want to be a more complete player. Rhythm & lead together blues stuff is what I’m looking for. This is a great lesson sir! Thank you new subscriber
Thank you. You sir don't "owe" us anything 😂. Your a great teacher and all knowledge you share here is appreciated. Love seeing you at stew mac, always giving us great information, for free at that. Again sir thank you... ❤️
Hi TF, thanks for sharing amazing content. Your playing style is so clean and easy going and with good explainations...Could you maybe recommend a Blue monk version that is not too hard to learn? I find the various versions on Spotify hard for someone with a non-jazzy background.
You're very welcome! I don't use any streaming service. I made Blue Monk lesson videos so you can learn it from this video. th-cam.com/video/nzEaUjpPDes/w-d-xo.html
Thank you for the great lesson! I always wanted to learn great classic songs like this. With a song like this in the bag I can entertain at a party haha 😂
Thank you for your wisdom in teaching us. Greetings from Tanzania East Africa. I am suffering from soloing the blues! I sound scaly and usual across pentatonic. I love your approach to one string and more " talking notes than pentatonic scaly notes. My humble request is for you to zoom in on the fretboard or spell the notes so that somebody like me can follow. Sometimes, your angle can not show me the notes you are playing. Again, thank you.
This was awesome. I happen to have John Mayall's Bluesbreakers With Eric Clapton in my music collection. I saw John Mayall live, and he signed the CD for me. I also saw Eric Clapton live. Freddie King is great. Even though Eric Clapton is my favorite guitarist, followed by Jeff Beck and Jimmy Page, it is good to see where their influences came from. Cheers! ✌️🎸
great great lesson!!! thank you so much! ,can I ask you what Ibanez is that? reminds me of a Fernandes 1982 Strat in fiesta red I have and sound by far better than any Strat I had play in 30 years ,thanks again 🤝👏
Tomo teaches me things, and he teaches me a further understanding of what my teacher is teaching me. The combination between the 2 and youtube should have me sucking a bit less within a year, at least! 😂😂
That is the blues… That’s all you need is two notes for the chord the guide tones flat third flat seven and the mixolydian scale. It’s all nice and neat for you in one position on the neck. I use two simple diagrams, and immediately the student can free himself from the minor pentatonic rut.
I love playing blues! M3 & b7 of each chord = guide tone! I love making people happy with my guitar! Mixolydian scale is b7 * R M2 M3 4 5 6 b7... so if can play Major scale on one string then just lower the 7th note 1/2 step down!
Very good lesson. Hey, how do you like your Ibanez Strat? How does it compare to Fender? I like Ibanez and have S470 with Zero type bridge. A very good guitar in both sound and playability.
Great question! Like everyone! I used to love playing overdrive tone for a long time. Then around 2001... secretly fascinating blues player who plays only guitar & amp... like BB King... Maybe around 2005... I started to use less overdrive tone. I was really into old tube amps & vintage tubes! Thanks for asking me!
Thank you. You sir don't "owe" us anything 😂. Your a great teacher and all knowledge you share here is appreciated. Love seeing you at stew mac, always giving us great information, for free at that. Again sir thank you... ❤️

This is true, but.... It's so much more fun to play blues guitar with drums, bass and a rhythm guitar, but it's a nice thing to do sometimes :)

Hey Tomo what artists inspired you to play so clean?
