My first web-shooter was a badge reel too! I remember planning to put a small grappling hook on the end of it for non-metal objects, but I never got around to doing it.

I think its a cool concept. I would call that more of a thrower than a "shooter" since you're throwing the magnet on a string and it simply wires it back. Would be cool to design a way to shoot the magnet out, to act more like a web shooter

Yes the web shooter I’m working on right now will have a spring launching mechanism similar to his but will have cartridges that hold the dart, spring, and string. So you can reload faster and easier it won’t have a way to reel back in but I may add that in a later iteration. I really appreciate all the suggestions and advice thank you.
It's like those extendable lanyard strings, there's magnet already in his hand and he threw it out before the spring pull the string back. Very cool trick though, I'm impressed

@@plasmalyrics3035 I just got my badge reel and magnet and tied my magnet to my badge reel with a glove I had since I dont have 3d printer I used a cheap badge reel and cheap magnet total is about 2-3 dollars(I'm thai so it's 98thb = around 3 dollars) I put them together by using the badge reel and tie it to my magnet(it has a ring on top) and put the badge reel on my glove and tried shooting it's difficult to shoot but after some misses I hit my target and it pulls it back it works exactly how I predicted with my bad accuracy
My friends and I used to make these all the time when I was younger. Nothing like an expandable lanyard holder and a magnet to really make a kid feel like Spider-Man. This unlocked memories I forgot I had. Keep it up🔥🔥
I feel like to have a fully functional web shooter IRL it would need to be a full arm rig. Fluid in the forearm with a compressor tank in the shoulder or vice versa but something like this would definitely be simpler to make. Just make it bigger.

Once he quickly moves his arm downwards, he presses the "shooter" to reel the object back with the string that's attached to it. Edit: Upon further viewing you can actually see that under his middle and index fingers he has a magnet, the magnet is attached to the string. When he quickly acts as if he is thwipping the object, he actually let's go of the magnet so that it picks up the object on the ground. Then, he reels the magnet back which is now carrying the object.
My father's company deals with different adhesives all of the time and they were in the process of expirementing with a super lightweight spongy one before covid. It looked very simmilar to a bunch of webs put together and I always wondered if it was actually possible for them to make an adhesive that could be used as a web shooter.

I saw a comment saying you should make a hook on it. I had a idea of making the hook magnetic so you can grab things with the hook and still have that magnetic part too it. I was also thinking the hook could be a 4 way hook kinda like one of those fishing hooks people use. But instead of it being sharp is could be pointed to avoid cuts when you real it back into your hands.

There are a lot of different tutorials and some only require cardboard, string and magnets. With some other added things that I can’t remember. But they are all fairly simple

I got a cheaper badgereel because they already have less powerful springs but if you have already done that you could open up the badge reel and untwist the center part with the spring a little bit and then make sure the string is still coming out the hole and put it back together. That should make it less powerful. Sorry if that didn’t make sense it’s kinda hard to explain.
