This is the best one yet. Love how the webs work, if you need to add air or water, u could add a second mixer into the nosel or right after the main nosel.

Here's 2 possible goals: goal of making a string that you could pull or interact with and goal of being able to web a surface efficiently at very close range (under 20cm/1foot), the common thing being making a significant/visible/tangible effect.
For now from what i see, the web fluid isn't aerodynamic and gets caught in the wind, could be a viable spiderweb builder. I would recommend to reach a milestone of stable close range to create a singular web shot encasing an object for example.
From that point, working on aerodynamism is essential before trying to create a "web rope".
I'd recommend experiencing larger quantities for testing, therefore putting the "compact" attribute on the side for now. There also might be substance loss when coming out of the cannon that could be simply fixed with a better cannon shape.
Sending big hopes for you, good luck.

You might be able to force the vinyl to form a cable if you use a split or two-piece nozzle design. My immediate thought is something like fuel injectors in a rocket engine, or even a mechanism to spin a split nozzle using a small DC motor. This adds complexity and will need more space, but if you want to build something that's going to really function as you want it to, you might want to consider getting the functionality working prior to miniaturization vs. miniaturizing and forcing ideas to work within the space. It's usually easier to design things down in scale after making a functional proof of concept. Gets rid of the "this might work, but it won't fit in the cool housing I designed" limitation.
If you were okay with using multiple cartridges instead of one, you could have a second cartridge with solvent, and have the arduino switch over to that cartridge for the last 5-10% of a web cast. It might not clean it fully, but a small self-cleaning step after each shot might help increase runtime before a full jam. I'd think in the fiction that the web fluid has some kind of impossible material programming to be incredibly slick at time of firing to help prevent jams and friction with the nozzle, then it gains mass and stickyness as it travels and the composition reacts with the air. Each step of that material reaction will have to be accommodated for using real-world chemistry and engineering, or just being happy that you're materializing a string from a pressurized vessel of fluid lol.
As for the toxicity of the web fluid, PVAc is non-toxic and can't be absorbed by the human body. But because you're atomizing both it and a solvent to fire, that's all crap that can get in your lungs. Try to stay upwind while testing and wear at least a dust mask if you're concerned with the inhalation risk.

I recommend using a mini TCU(temperature controlling unit to atomize the stream more effectively. This will also help with your next web fluid formula. You can use nichrome heating like with the saber you made but put it post valve before outer nozzle. There are also well designed atomizer outlets that you can buy online as well.

If the fluid needs to react with water to become stronger, I'd suggest a split chamber cartridge that could feed into an atrium within the web shooter itself where they could mix while being expelled (it would also probably need one-way valves to prevent back flow) idk if this would gunk up the shooter itself, but nonstick coating might help

Have u ever though of adding other polymers or chemical reagents to increase the strength but also keep the fluid in a viscosity similar to that of water, you could try adding PHA (polyhydroxyalkanoates) PHA can form fibers with excellent mechanical properties, including high tensile strength, Young's modulus, and elongation at break. Solvents like acetone or ethyl acetate can be used to dissolve PHA, but also biopolymers like alginate for flexibility and elasticity or chitosan for stiffness and shock absorption or even bombyx silk-pva(vinyl alcohol) fibers have good mechanical properties, i worked in a organic chem lab and worked in bio-chem lab so im not new to synthesizing materials, if you need help feel free to ask!!

These are really cool, and I liked how you noted things you can further improve on in future iterations of your web shooters. I’m currently working on a set of web shooters myself, although I made mine using a set of mini retractable dog leads with small weights attached. They’re not perfect either as the weight can’t be hidden, but it doesn’t get in my way since it dangles out of the way so it’s not too bad. The only other downside is because it doesn’t propel itself you have to swing your arm to throw the weight and launch the web, which means you can’t just point and shoot. It’s not too bad with practice though, since Spidey normally whips his arms around when slinging webs anyway. It needing practice to get good at aiming and feeling the weight and tension of the web so you can smoothly catch it and have it wind all the way back into your hand perfectly is also a slight downside, but practicing with it is fun anyway. The advantages: it’s completely mechanical so it never needs recharged or refilled, the lead automatically winds itself back up so you can shoot it again immediately, it not having a trigger means there’s nothing to limit your hands movement, the lead has a safety switch you can flip when you don’t want to use them, and as long as you make the decorative parts detachable in some way you could also use it as a prop for other characters too, like Scorpion from Mortal Kombat

    @pion137 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +19

Maybe coat the tubing and valves with teflon or a nonstick coating?
Also, if you want the web to not just come out but form a rope like structure, the nozzle should be several small Gabriel's horn shaped (surface of rev for 1/x) nozzles in a disc mounted inside a bearing. the pressurized side of the disc would have radial vanes than make it an impeller. When triggered, the pressure would cause the disc to spin while ejecting webbing from the tapped through nozzles. The streams of web from each nozzle would have a helical path that causes the streams to twist around one another as the travel.

  • @Thechaoscrusadors
    @Thechaoscrusadors 3 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

Amazing project!! I will definently following along! If i may make a couple suggestions. 1. If you use an rfid chip and micro reader you can prevent accidental presses from the button.
    2. If you know the water to solvent proportion you could do a dual tank set up on either side. This would theoretically allow you to spray a stream vs a mist.
    3. If you used an atmega328p you could sequence the sprays and control the other parts. Including the potential for rotating nozzles allowing the multiple patterns. Using an addressable led for bas power mode would allow you to tell which head is active. The microcontroller would also allow you to use a 3 tank of compressed air(or gas of some sort) to clean the nozzle out after each shot
Edit: on the note of the formed tanks. If you used carbon fiber you could maximize tank space with without compromising pressure capacity. This is by no means criticism. Only ideas

6:58 To be fair, this is why organic webs is much easier. Maybe it’s not as logical, but web shooters aren’t logical either. Not in the way that they are usually depicted. I get the argument that it shows off Pete’s ingenuity, but if the writer is clever, they can find better ways of showing that off than the web shooters, such as making the web shooters more of a way to control the organic webs and determine their shape when ejected.

Do you think that the reason your web fluid only works when atomized is because of the moisture in the air. Going off you experiments with mixing your fluid with water an idea might be to hook up a small water atomizer to the exit of the solenoid to expose the fluid to more moisture allowing it to solidify in larger strands. Also I just wanna say how God Damm cool this is and I can't wait to see how far you are able to take this.

    Hello somewhat Spider-Man nerd here
Here’s a simple “web fluid” that’s very low budget and also can be used with most gases and cartridges.
    You will need
    Acetone
    Fabric Glue
Fabric glue is more rubber esc you’ll know it’s gonna work when you put some in between your fingers and a lot of strands come out
Finally you play around with combining acetone and glue
You want a ratio of enough glue to make it still string but a consistency of water
To strengthen this fluid what should work is plastic wrap infused acetone and a d limonine and poly mix
However if you just wana cosplay and have a simple web fluid that only takes two ingredients follow the first couple of sentences that I wrote
I hope this helps your cosplay needs or if you just wana shoot webbing

This looks great! One idea for the future is that, scientists are already practicing extracting real web fluid from real spiders, which is combining spider characteristics with a goat embryo. This, in turn, creates a goat that looks and acts like a normal goat, but has milk that contains spider-silk proteins. By separating the proteins from the milk, you can effectively create web fluid very efficiently. By combining multiple strands of silk, you could create a fine strand of webbing that sticks to everything and is crazy strong. Combining that, and having, say, a glue repellant, you can literally become Spider-man.

If you do decide to go adding water in to the web shooter, there was this concept for Tom Holland's web shooters where her would have 2 liquids and had 3 or 4 additional nozzles rotating round a main nozzle. I don't know how it works but my idea is that one fluid would shoot out of the main valve and and the other would shoot out of the smaller rotating nozzles so you could try and do something like that. I love this by the way. I'm working on my own web shooters and seeing how you went at it really helped me with my building process

Use thermoplastic polyurethane and put it in airless capsules, when exposed to air they harden and are flexible, 7 mm can hold between 100 and 150 kilograms without deforming much, thermoplastic polyurethane withstands a lot of heat but at 482 degrees Fahrenheit it dissolves completely and it becomes viscous and liquid again to put it in a capsule and reuse it.

@@schizo4725 yo had an idea for a new cartridge that might be a bit better/ simplify the internals of your web shooters. Make a cartridge similar to a soda bottle just small, attach something that you can plug a butane can into In order to pressurize the cartridge, add a lid that’s made to be airtight but can still be removed, then take the valve off of an empty aerosol can then epoxy it into the lid. Add a modded trigger from one of those mini spray bottles. Plug the og hole and then add one on the top with a sewing pin. Then the cartridge should be done. Fill it with the fluid then pressurize it and when you push down on the trigger located on the top of the cartridge it should fire the webbing out in a mist and pretty far too basically working like a shooken soda bottle only with a valve on the top and a misting trigger. Not sure if you can use this with this web shooter but perhaps one in the future.

for making the web fluid stronger using water, would it be possible to have a second container of water that fires off at the same time directly into your fluid? it prob wouldn’t make it as strong as a proper mixture of the fluid and the water, but it would still give it a bit more strength, maybe?

Maybe try the nylon formula, just for the test for this additional function that allows for the threads to be compact or intertwined. "Spinneret Nozzles" basically just a spinning nozzle that allows for the threads to come out and intertwined together when shooting. I don't know much about this either but I've also been in this obsession when I was a kid. For the Web fluids, I don't know.

if you could get away with it, the air to fluid ratio could be a bit thicker and may aid in both the velocity and allowing the web the stick to itself forming more of a thread or rope

Is there a website or app that will help me design a PCB with little knowledge of electronics? I’m talking baby stuff. I guess what I need is an interactive learning program. I’m a hands-on learner and that’s hard to do without buying the gear. I’d like to break through this barrier that’s preventing me from moving forward with a project I really need to make.

Kicad and TH-cam videos would be my suggestion. Kicad’s probably the best pcb designer I know of and it’s free, but I used fusion360 since I was more familiar with it and I’m a student so I get it free.

@@schizo4725 thank you for the suggestion, dude. I’m looking into it asap! I want to make a small box with a led that will sit on top of a TV. It’s connected to the computer and will illuminate or flash when you get an alert (of your choosing). I know I can do it! Thank you for sharing your projects and journey. It’s inspiring and motivating me to try. I can usually understand things very quickly and this has been evasive asf. Thanks again, schizo!

Would it be possible to make your trigger dual action and maybe add a small container for water and mist it in as it sprays or something similar to the silly spray spider man toy

Make the hole that the fluid comes out of thinner and pointed outwards and inside the tip make some curved blades that weave the fluid into a string

if you make the end of the nozzle have a bunch of holes with an inwards angle in a spiral, wouldnt it, spin and create a cord from your web fluid?
idk if i explained it right but ive been thinking about it for a while.

Yeah but if it doesn't dry in time surface tension will make it clump up into balls at distance, you might need laminar flow to keep the stream solid

  • @flameendcyborgguy883

I think laminar flow could work, if you put atomised water one next to/around it( with cilcular design you could make it around the one). This way you would have increase in both range and strenght of thr web fluid due to whole reaction. Sadly it would require two cartridges, but hey, it should be viable.

3:58 For your web shooter design, would it be possible to have two chambers per web shooter? One for the water to shoot through while the other chamber would be reserved for the web fluid? Also, would it be possible to have both chambers angled towards the nozzle so that the spinneret could make a string? I really dig TASM 1 web shooter design as well, and these were great too!

For the web fluid why not use 1 cartridge with water and the other with the compound you're using. Maybe 2 short hoses conecting to a 3 way female connection piece and have that other port leading to the valve so you can combine the two before it leaves web shooter. Idk how fast the reaction is between the two but maybe someway somehow. Hell even maybe go for a homecoming kind of look to maybe have room for it

Make the string braid itself to add strength to the web also maybe adding a tube that covers the web in super glue? It doesn't even need to cover the whole web, just the tip! 😉
