    This is really cool, especially the bit where you jump while throwing. I'd love to see more of the math in the design of the hooks. Maybe Zach Star can do an animation :-)

  • @Built_IRL
    @Built_IRL  3 ปีที่แล้ว +489

    So if you look at practically any TH-cam videos with grappling hooks in them, they practically always cheat the shot and place a cut after throwing it. The reason is, grappling hooks just aren't that consistent. The internal hook I designed for the old webshooter and the grappling gun was greatly improved in some ways, but its rate of successfully fastening from some angles was still frustratingly low.
    This hookchain that the web is using here is honestly SO MUCH BETTER. Instead of worrying if it will stick, you can plan out what you'll do WHEN it does. And it's cheaper, smaller, lighter, and safer than any other fastening gadget I've ever seen or made :)
    Just goes to show - the good ideas aren't all taken already!

    • @ZakLeek
      @ZakLeek 3 ปีที่แล้ว +18

      I definitely agree, your hook web design was brilliant. I think it would be worth finding a way to attach it to your existing grapple launcher. Also, do you think you will ever release the designs for the hooks for other people to use?

    The advanced glue delivery device you've described has several exciting possibilities and capabilities:
    1. **Precision Glue Delivery:** The device can deliver glue with exceptional precision, thanks to the controlled release mechanism. This makes it useful for various applications requiring precise adhesive placement.
    2. **Swinging and Movement:** With the string and catapult system, combined with the swing functionality, the device allows for controlled movement. This can be used for activities like traversal, recreation, or even rescue operations.
    3. **String Control:** The inclusion of cutting mechanism gloves and string retention features provides users with complete control over the strings. They can release or retain strings at will, making it adaptable to different situations.
    4. **Rapid Reloading:** The loading mechanisms for both the string and web-based bullets ensure rapid reloading, making it efficient and practical for continued use.
    5. **Drying Mechanism:** The heat mechanism integrated into the web structure allows for the immediate drying of glue upon contact, enabling fast adhesion.
    6. **Retrieval System:** The built-in retrieval system with a timer-controlled oil-release mechanism provides a means to retrieve the device and any attached web-based bullets, even from high or difficult-to-reach locations.
    7. **Versatility:** The multifunctional nature of the device means it can be applied in various scenarios, from creative projects involving art and design to practical tasks such as repair work or outdoor activities.
    8. **Innovation and Creativity:** The device represents an innovative blend of technologies and features, allowing users to explore creative and practical solutions in adhesive application, mobility, and more.
    9. **Convenience:** The inclusion of features like button-controlled string retention and web-based bullet reloading ensures user-friendliness and convenience during operation.
    10. **Safety and Control:** With the ability to control string release and retention, as well as precise glue delivery, safety and control are prioritized, reducing the risk of accidents.
    It's important to note that this device's capabilities are versatile and can be applied in various ways, depending on the user's needs and creativity. It combines elements of mobility, adhesive application, and control, making it a unique and adaptable tool for different situations. However, it's essential to use it responsibly and ensure safety measures are in place, especially in high-risk scenarios.

Later after he was reformed he admired Spider-Man so much he reconfigured his suit and tried to get Spidey to take him on as a sidekick Spider-Kid but Peter doesn't do sidekicks for a host of safety and responsibility concerns. That didn't stop Ollie though. In college he eventually makes it into the Superhero world under the name Steel Spider. Unfortunately, he eventually gets into a fight with Venom who catches him by surprise and bites his left arm off. He was then incarcerated for being an unregistered vigilante during Civil War.

    stretching a trash bag into a long rope makes it insanely strong than it’s original form. online i saw that trash bags are made of polyethylene but different types. i looked up the strongest trash bag and it’s a 30 gallon force flex plus trash bag. if you stretched that and then added some weights to each end, similar to your hook swing, do you think that could work as well? it could allow more room for more “rope” and when the force is increased it could allow you to shoot further. just an idea i thought about!

    When you showed the velcro and how it inspired the hook chain, it made me wonder if it would be possible to use a large number of smaller hooks...and perhaps even use something like muscle wire, so that you could turn off the current and it would just let go. On the other hand - I think the weight of the hooks is giving you more control when you throw the rope, and increases the likelihood that it will wrap around the target
