Hello from Tasmania. Never seen an Oliver baler in the flesh. Our family has ran New Holland balers for over fifty years. Thanks Kerry.
Just a suggestion, but I always sprayed the knotters with lube, PB Blaster is my weapon of choice, every time me and the JD 24T went to the field. In the 20+ years of use, the knotters were never an issue. Tying a good knot between twine bales was usually the reason for a knot that didn't tie. I know spray lubricant is SCARY! to you, but, give it a try. (Especially since the knotters are so rusty and obviously haven't been used for a while). Give it a try, it might just save a rooster or two. 😂
Or save his "a$$" 🤣🤣
That's a pretty cool looking setup 770 and your Oliver baler. Can't wait to see it in action.
Get-R-Done there pal, impatiently waiting for the next video lol
Can’t wait to see it baling and her the 770 barking!!
You should polish the bill hooks before even trying to bale. If they are not shiny the twine will not slide off when the knot is trying to be made. Bill hooks was something we always took with us when on a baler service call. Maybe a good emery cloth polish will get you going.
Got to love old balers. Mine is a John Deere 14 T. Bought it used in the 70's.😅
Ross, nice seeing more Oliver's 👍 thanks Michael
Ah the closing remarks.
Nice video Ross. Looks like it will be a good one, but time will tell. Good luck.
Hey! No hay!😂
Sounds like it need oil in the rearend, good ol growling and whining and transmission, wow ok good job, p.s.check it anyway right, thanks BigAl California.
Looking good
😊 looking forward to seeing it making bales
Hope you get it serviced well bud
👍👍👍👍👍
I will be looking forward seeing it making idiot bricks!
Don't feel bad Ross I'm 43& a j.i.case& John Deere owner
Put the 60 on that baler and show people what Oliver power really is 😂😂 That is cool that you finally got an Oliver baler for a good price. I'll be watching for the video of it working
😁👍👍👍
I'm proud you got you an Oliver baler
Yeah, it looked like a couple of those grease zerks weren't taking much if any grease. Maybe after you run it a short time you can put some more to it. Good luck with the old girl, I sure hope things work out for you on it. Have a great day!
Ross I love your channel you remind me of myself when I started farming nothing ever worked right lol but I always found a way to make it work 😊
It lives!! Hopefully it does a good job. See you later.
Ross, your baler needs a good pressure wash and a good drying. Then the super Juice added . What is that you ask ? 50/50 diesel fuel to old engine oil. Use a hand pump sprayer and give it a pretty good soaking. Then just let it set. Every nut, bolt will stay loose for you and whatever rust will almost stop also, whatever paint that is left on it will shine again. Always did that with every piece of equipment when finished using it. Including the tractor but use some common sense as to where you are spraying it.👍🇺🇸😎🙏🏽 it a runner.
When you put a new ball o twine in, do you do a regular square knot, or do you have a fancy-German knot?
Hope all goes out well Ross
That a nice looking baler!
I hope the baler works good with no problems
Good luck Ross.
I would bet the flywheel slip clutch is stuck. Thinking thats what bent the driveline.
The 520 is ready!
I picked up plenty of those idiot bricks for some reason I’m thinking it was a penny or two each. I sure hope I was wrong on the amount I hated being the stacker on the trailer or in the loft. Thanks for the memories 😅
Nice video Ross
Hi Ross From a old farm boy to another I think that all baylers used the john deere knotters . and if i am thinking the IH baylers made there own . ??????????? love the videos good luck . looking towards the bayler to do a great job.
The 770 is a great baler tractor unless it's on you cousins baler
The guides should be ok until it changes balls of twine. It prevents the knots from going through them.
Good luck 🤞
Isn’t nice when stuff just works 😅
Well...at least everything turns!!! Next will be the moment of truth for the knotters. Based on past experience, they can be possessed by vocabulary sharpening gremlins...especially if there are storm clouds on the horizon and time is of the essence.
Hey Ross, what brand of chain spray lube do you use? I bought a similar type as you used, that foamed. It worked well, but the guy I bought it from quit working for the company, went independent, but I haven't seen him for awhile. He sold shop supplies farm to farm and came around a couple of times a year. But now I'm not sure hes doing that anymore. He was from north central IL and came up to southern WI. The company he sold for had some good products, and chain lube was one of them.
Are you saying it is easier to find the grease point when the bearings fail?
As dumb as it sounds, twine will wear out ceramic
