Other tuners have mentioned that they thought anything approaching 400ft/lb of torque was not a good idea on our VB stock transmission, so I was surprised with your choice of tune. Glad you made this video, hopefully other VB owners can take note.

Ey bro, thanks for that information man. Just bought the 2023 wrx have it for a good 2 months now I love it. It’s my first wrx. Hopefully you get back on it again brotha! 🤙🏽
I kept getting told the same, 400/450. I declared bs and STI swapped mine before hitting those numbers. Just for the piece of mind. Its def not JUST power level for sure, another local guy to me blew his trans up, but even though he said it was such a surprise, all his YT shorts were just slamming the absolute hell out of it.
400hp to the wheels is a decent amount of power for anything. Launching an awd anything at 400-450 is pretty violent on the drivetrain. Especially a little 4 cylinder car. My mustang at 450whp is pretty violent with sticky tires so I know. That has 31 spline axles, tremec 6 speed, heavy duty clutch and so on. Sometimes it hits gears so hard I cringe. What do you think is going to happen to a little wrx ? I own a 23 sapphire blue and I’m leaving it stock with my 120k mile warranty and I’ll enjoy it for what it is. Make it look good and some exhaust and leave it alone and not hammer the death out of the car. Another 50-100hp would be awesome but not when it has a thousand miles on it.
@6spd85notch ya I feel ya on leaving it stockish, exhaust, oil catch can is all I've done on my 21 wrx and I daily it to my work that's a 5min drive from my house and take it out on nice cruises on the weekends and I've had 0 problems with it so far. Can't neglect the cars either on maintenance.
Do the redline gear oil and light weight shock proof. 50/50 mix. Its worked really well for me in my VA wrx making 507whp. I’ve done 67k miles original trans, been fbo e60 ~360whp since 9k miles. And built motor big turbo and full E85 at 507whp since 42k miles. Daily driven, launched from time to time and flat foot shifted on a regular.
I was really thinking about this but I read a forum and saw Andrewtech say for the non sti 6 speed they only recommend motul 300. I'll definitely look into this though because I woukd assume the redline combo would be a better choice.
Dude that sucks, sorry to hear that. It's funny, I remember tons of people on the internet, forums, all saying "don't get the STI, it's not worth the extra money, blah blah blah." (I know, no STI for 2022 - thanks Subaru). But the point is, the extra money for the STI went somewhere. Subaru did not just rebadge a WRX and charge $10K+ more for it. And you are seeing, unfortunately, where some of that money went: the STI 6-sp trans. It's a fantastic transmission, it takes a lot of abuse, and it takes a lot of extra power above stock. I'm not suggesting you STI swap the car. I actually highly, highly respect your decision to go with the cheaper WRX trans; money doesn't grow on trees and ending up in financial ruin because of a car is insane. So respect for being smart about it. The WRX was never meant to be a race car. It's a street car, with some fun bits that are rally inspired. The STI was the race car in street car clothing. Do what you got to do, turn the power down, enjoy the car for many, many miles :) Good luck!
It's hit or miss too. Like I said I had a buddy on a stock car blow his transmission at 2,000 and he babied the hell out of it. My old tuner always told me he could tune two cars with exact same mods, driven the exact same way making the exact same power in the exact same location and one car could blow up after a week and the other could last years.
@snoopyalien24 my response to that would be this: consider most people who blow their transmission get scared and sell the car and never buy another one. I've owned four, all making around double the factory torque and 3/4 blew up. My last car I STI swapped... much stronger transmission. I laucnhed the car over 50 times after the sti swap, tons of flat foot shifting and slamming gears, did awd donuts dozens of times and it never skipped a beat. I abused it because I knew it could handle it.... and it did. All the abuse and it never had an issue. If I would have done any of that in my new wrx the transmission would've lasted probably 3k instead of the 10k that it did.
@@StreetInspired1 this is exactly my point. Abuse destroys parts. Can some things handle much more abuse? Of cousre. Most drag subarus still use the stock STI trans. It's an animal. Pretty much everyone with a split case trans knows that they simply can't be abused in the same way as the STI trans and doing so guarantees it grenades.
Its not 100% drive style. It's about the tune and luck. I had a 2016 WRX that grenaded on 350 wtq after 30K. Never launched, rarely ever WOT on lower RPMs, always warmed up the car, etc.
A regular transmission might be the better option for your channel. I'm assuming the majority of viewers will relate to it. Wishing you the best either way.
Subaru-designed transmissions are not meant for repeated abuse, especially beyond stock power. The Aisin-designed (STI and BRZ) transmissions are just better built/designed. People laughed at me, but when the VB WRX was revealed, gun to my head I'd pick the WRX GT with the "SPT". I just hate Subaru's in-house designed manual transmissions. Having owned 8 of them and being in the game for 20 years, my trust in the transmissions outside of the STI and BRZ (both of which I owned and loved) has waned to nearly zero. I didn't mind my 08 Forester XT 5MT, but I still felt as though that was just a matter of time. I sold that for the 2011 WRX, which I had to replace a pitch fork after about 45k or so, iirc. Anyway, everyone has their varied experiences and bias. I appreciate you sharing yours! STI swap. There's already a sussy slot for DCCD.
Glad you made this video. This is one reason why I don't mod or tune my cars. I do appreciate your channel because I enjoy seeing the potential and its fun to watch your journey.
I'm at 90k miles and 9 years on my 2015 full bolt on tune with 0 mechanical issues. This guy has been through 3 transmissions already. I'd have to ask what he's doing with the car.
@WREXVB You are 100% correct. However some people get lucky and run power like this for a long time with no issues. So it wasn't bad luck that it happened, but I could've had more good luck in it lasting. Lol
That was pretty damn unlucky when the accessport bricked his car. Damn Cody, hope you’re back rolling shortly…I want a 330/350 tune for my daily so bad but these vids always scare me
Thanx for your honesty. I appreciate your realness with your decision. I know ull eventually sti swap and theres no rush to do it if your keeping the car. Good decision
I think the community has been using the STI as a crutch for too long. There needs to be some sort of standard trans upgrade setup. Of course, figuring out what the common points of failure are needs to happen first.
@spencersinger3209 I get that its a solid upgrade, but its also a very intensive upgrade to handle the power levels that a tune and some simple mods produce. I, for one, could not justify the upgrade, so unless something more cost effective comes out or my financial situation changes dramatically, I'm stuck with a stock car.
Dude that sucks so bad. I don't blame you going the cheaper option at all. Just be careful with the upgraded clutch with that transmission. Will grab harder and possible shock your new transmission breaking it again 😮
To be fair I also blew the transmission out of my 2020 wrx at a low mileage too. The wrx transmission has never been good at holding power and or abuse.
Appreciate your honesty and sharing your experience with everyone. This is extremely helpful for me as I am looking into my VB goals before doing anything. Very good points that it comes down to power, abuse, and mileage. Besides custom and a lot of work, are there any other options other than a STi swap for transmissions? It's got me worried that lower mileage STi swaps are going to be rare and only get rarer/more expensive as time goes on. Maybe another transmission is in development? Just curious about that. I don't want to put myself in a tight spot later on. Thinking about maybe next year going for the STi swap or just sticking with stock and no tuning, but that is no fun either.
Honestly I'm not to sure. I know they used to make PPG gear sets for the 5 speed wrx transmission so you could build it but I haven't seen any for the 6 speed wrx transmission. I think probably the only options right now is an sti swap or a different transmission from another car custom fabricated to fit
Man I'm sorry to see you're going through this. Hopefully you have her running back soon. But i have question. You show that your clutch disk ans pressure plate are shattered and show signs of damage. Did you confirm the transmission is blown? Ive blown clutches before but it didn't necessarily blow the transmission.
The car is back running now. But yeah it was definitely the transmission. The transmission went before the clutch. I talked about that some in this video. Basically the sounds were in N-3 but 4-6 the sound pretty much went away. And when the transmission finally locked up it took the clutch with it.
@@StreetInspired1 I must have look away in the drain plug part haha my bad. I'm glad its back and running. I'm looking to get one of these so I'm getting as much info as I can before hand
damn that really blows, hopefully you can recoup most that money on this new wrx trans though once you swap to sti later, assuming we dont have this one blow on you too lmao. Reel back the tune a little bit and should be okay id imagine though, always love seeing the honesty though people need to see the dark side of everything modding can bring too some people think its bulletproof and will be fine "no way that would happen to ME, i drive fine!" lol
"I've blown up every car I've had by bolting on a bunch of nonsense and beating the brakes off my cars. Please like and subscribe if you want to ruin every car you touch as well!" These kinds of people never cease to amaze me.
When I first saw the high tq tuned fa24 wrx's were putting down, I thought "Yep! Great move subaru! Put the engine the Sti should have had in the wrx which basically has a 350 wtq "limit"...My Fa20, 400+whp on E75, still going strong, 119k miles...Why? Great tuner, peak tq is to the right on the graph...Was gonna do an Sti 6 speed swap, but only if my stock set goes, or if I decide I want a bit more power, then I'll just swap in OEM 24dit rods, port, and turbo upgrade...Honesty I think for a daily with occasional track use, 400ish is the sweet spot, along with a carefully selected suspension setup
Iam about to log those values and mathematically look at what those numbers look like from stock HP on one end . Iam curious as all I want is a stage 2 cobb around 300hp, but curious what the transmission life guestimate looks like. I dont beat on her though. Just some nice pulls from usually 3rd gear not passing 5k...just for longevity.
It’s funny wrx owners in general complain about eating a transmission at 400ish hp. What people don’t realize is that 450 wheel horsepower with awd is pretty stout. Even with many rear wheel drive cars. Launching a 450hp mustang on slicks is even rough on them. It’s pretty violent to do to a drivetrain in general. Especially in a car definitely not designed to handle that abuse. Doesn’t surprise me whatsoever.
@@StreetInspired1 i know you didn’t. You’re totally up front and honest. 450 horse is a lot for a little car. I’ll bet the car rips. Probably really fun to drive. I own a 23 sapphire blue and I really like it. It definitely could use another 50-100 hp though. I also own a few mustangs. One about 450 hp and I know how violent the car can be. It also has brand new really good parts in it to handle sticky tires. Axles , trans, etc.. Sometimes you have to suck it up and drop some coin on some good parts. All part of the hobby. Good luck with it I’ll follow your build.
I appreciate this info this is my everyday driver I'm not gonna change anything but the wheels, and the exhaust and some cosmetics gotta make it last 4 years at least. Again tks for the video
I am interested to see how the new transmission will do especially with an upgraded clutch. When I do pulls in my 22 It smells like something is burning and all I have is an e tune pitch stop mount and a short throw shifter
You’ll smell a little burn especially after a pull(s)… sometimes I go for a spirited drive (staying under 4500rpm) and I’ll smell some rubber from the clutch/brakes. It’s probably the same
What did you do with the old transmission? I would have give you some $$ for it if you were closer (I'm out west). I'd like to disassemble it and see what actually broke. If mine breaks, I'll do just that... just replace whatever broke rather than spend $3k+ replacing it.
Did I ever say it wasn't? I'm adding more power to a car that has a notoriously weak transmission. I expected this to happen. I don't beat the living shit out of my cars but I don't baby them either. So it's only a matter of time when you're doubling the factory torque and actually enjoying the car.
@@StreetInspired1you are brain dead for even thinking about modding a WRX THERE 20 WAY BETTER CARS THAT CAN HANDLE AND LOOK BETTER AND MORE RELIABLE BRAIN DEAD SUBIE FANS
My VB has been in the shop twice for a whining noise in what my dealer calls "somewhere in the powertrain?" It's already had a throwout bearing and flywheel replaced. I'm trying to explain to them I think it's in the Trans. They say the noise is too faint to locate. I talked to the mechanic and tech and they both agree something is going to happen. I have a pile of parts. The Cobb A.P. still in the box and ETS everything plus AOS Subaru won't warranty if I install. Sucks but I'm glad I didn't plug in the AP and all the bolt on's while I was working in Iowa near Graham at Boosted Performance. So now it's a waiting game. Not sure what to do? The techs are saying blow it up. I don't want to abuse it to failure because that can cause more underlying problems. Don't want to sell because interest rates, and I've already color matched the bumper and done cosmetics. Any suggestions? I really want to start modifications. 17k on car. Over a year old. 😢
I'm legit having the same exact problem. I have a whining noise as well especially on deceleration. First time I took it in around 14K, they narrowed it down to being in the transmission. Was in the shop for 2 months while they worked on getting a Subaru engineer out. They replaced some parts in it and the noise was close to being gone but it's back now at 17K. Car is stock.
I’m pushing 344 Whp 340lb torque done plenty of launches but I don’t do it anymore. I just drive it for fun these days occasionally do pulls but that’s as far Im planning to push it.
I have a 2023 WRX. Anything more than 350 HP requires a full build on the engine and drivetrain. The Honda Civic R has 315 HP max. 325 HP is more than adequate for the WRX. If you added that much HP to a new Civic R it would blow up too.
Oh yeah, sorry about your car, bro. Great content on the channel. I'm not ready for a STI swap either. I have to move to Cali for family. It's kinda expensive there. Close to Clark Tuning, though😂
You can just do a safe 93 tune and still beat the hell out of the car like everyone with a 93 tune does on the regular. Yes, that high torque e85 tune was a bit much. Also, what transmission oil are you running?
Not too sure about that. I know tons of people on 300hp 93 tune VAs that blew their transmission. Definitely safer than the poeer im on now, but still risky. And I was running stock gear oil. However I'll probably run Motul 300 in the new trans and might add 1 qt of redline shockproof.
@@StreetInspired1 I'm just talking strictly VBs here. Heck Im sure you can blow one with a stock tune but some have claimed the 6 speed in the VB is different than the VA (just rumors on that) and the Motul 300 is one of the best shear strength gear oils you can get.
I blew mine in my 2012 , retune and return to stock , and dealer warranty it lol I was lucky , have you thinking to do the same so you don’t pay out of pocket ?
Subie really should have put the STI drive train in the car, esp. if not making an STI. Make it a drive train upgrade or something. I think pushing this car to 350hp is plenty and probably OK to run as a daily. Otherwise, I'll be trading mine in for a Bimmer in a few years.
I don't mean to be pointing fingers or anything like that, but just trying to understand what went wrong so the rest of us can hope to avoid the same mistake. In both of the stories you mentioned, the failure sounds like it happened on decel/downshifting, which would have absolutely nothing to do with how much power the car has. Is it possible you made a mistake somehow in the downshift or something else that could have sent a sudden shock load through the trans (dropping the clutch into 2nd from idle while cruising at speed, for example)? Was there something that happened earlier on the highway cruise or corvette pull that you may not have noticed until later? Thanks for the insight! Crossing my fingers for my VA trans.
I am in no way arrogant or think my driving is flawless but when I down shift I always rev match and I'm always very easy on the clutch release. There was never a sudden jolt or slamming into gear on downshifing. My first wrx went out the same way and I heard that one while driving before coming to a stop. This last one during the pull it was music playing and exhaust and I didnt notice until I was almost stopped. And in my last wrx I was on the highway going 80 with the windows down and just didn't hear it until coming to a stop I think it's just been because it's not a super loud noise and the car was still operating that both times I didn't notice until decel. I do think what broke it was almost certainly from shifting the car into third aggressively with all of the extra Torque coming on immediately.
Just say no to ethanol unless you have an STI Trans. Ignore that and your loose another. My VB trans swap with all supporting mods including engine mounts, DSS shaft and all new OEM seals cost me just over 10k.
I really wanna be on your side. But like you said, a lot of this depends on how you treat the car. In the older 5 speed, it was very common to blow gears. But somehow, you could blow a gear and drive the car hundreds of miles. The glass gears would simply shear down and be unusable. I drove an 04 WRX 2k miles without first gear. It sounds like yours blew due to drivetrain shock both times. This happens when load from the engine is met with a lot of resistance from the ground. The system is designed so the clutch takes most of the abuse, saving the trans ideally. They added a clutch delay valve to try to stop clutch dumps. But that cannot stop redline launches. Please do not get an upgraded clutch. Or a lightweight flywheel. A heavier flywheel will absorb some of the shock from heavy driving, and you definitely would rather blow a clutch than a trans. A stiffer trans will just throw more daily stress on the trans, which you do not want. I wont say it’s your fault, because these transmissions fail more from launches than power. Ie a stock power trans would fail faster if it is launched daily than a 450whp car never launched. And I think Subaru really cheaped out on this trans, which sucks for everyone. My VB has 15k miles driven hard but never launched at 360whp/400tq and its holding the power great.
I agree with most of what your are saying however I've only launched this car twice and once was on stock power level and once at around 380. Both I didn't clutch dump but slipped the clutch quite a bit. I'd put money on my failure being from hard shifting whilst accelerating on double the factory torque.
@@StreetInspired1 idk that may be it but I know I haven done countless 1-2-3 pulls just from a roll. My advice does still stand. Go OEM unless you get an STI trans
Bro....youre gonna put a VA transmission in a VB. Thats gonna change your gear ratios by quite a bit. This will actually be really good information for people that want to swap FA24s into thier VAs. We should do some collabs while your car heals. Like a hot or not of old subarus or something!
I don't think you can do that 22 motor in 20 wrx unless you changed the ecu it would be involved .... like trying to put a built ej25 in our 22 wrx need 7000 aftermarket ecu and much more
This video was so informative and cool. (compared to the ridiculous Donut wrx hi-lo) if I were a wealthy man I'd gift you the difference so u could do the wrx swap! Good stuff.👍
You don't have to apologize. Sorry for you car problems but knowing you you will get it going again By the way did you beat the corvette. Hang in there 😊
@@StreetInspired1 dude off topic. But do you have any thoughts on Pennzoil ultra Platinum 0w-40, for use in VA WRX? I'm considering it but not sure if it's formulated for DIT.
Joey Montaltos swap was under $5700. I know you cant always find the same deals but if you could get it for around that price id rather pay another $1700 for the sti swap and be done with it.
No I totally agree in an ideal situation. But even $1,700 is a pretty big jump. I was actively saving for the swap when this happened. Had this happened 6 months from now I would've been able to do the swap. But I couldn't afford it at the time and couldn't go 6 months without my car.
@@StreetInspired1 best of luck! I hope someone sees this video and decides to help out. As a community we should band together when things like this happen! 🤔
Thanks for replying, I'm running a full e85 tune from Dmann at about your power level, maybe a little less. I ordered the new pump from BMS but I haven't installed it yet. I've been running corn in my big block mopar for 6 years and went through some pumps in the beginning not being e85 compatible. Just wondering how long this little stock pump will last. Burger claims the new pump flows 30% more. I'm digging the channel, thanks for keeping us all informed.
You keep mentioning HP numbers, but its your TQ numbers that matter when it comes to your transmission. Whether you launch it or not matters. Whether you have a stock or aftermarket clutch matters. Whether your tune applies too much TQ at lower RPM levels matters. The fact that youve blown 3 trans makes it seem the way you drive and set up your car is the problem.
Correct. All of that is a factor. The car makes 455Tq. The power had a big part in it. Ripping on a stock car isn't that big of a deal usually. But when you rip on a car with that much Torque it's only a matter of time. I don't beat the shit our of my car but I have fun with it. It's definitely my fualt it broke
Ouch yea 455tq is way too much for the wrx trans. Doesnt matter whether you beat on it or not at that level, its guaranteed its toast eventually if not quickly. Upgrading your clutch from stock will actually make the trans break sooner funny enough. Doesnt sound fun but i wouldnt go over 350 if you want any longevity out of it. @@StreetInspired1
You'd think they would upgrade the transmission on these cars by now sheesh. At least you're able to do the work yourself and save some money that way.
@@StreetInspired1 I might of missed it, but you only mentioned the former. 2k at 450 is worrisome for a blown trans. What do you think you and Clark will de-tune to?

As a WRX owner I'm very skeptical to get a tune to even out the power band and reduce some of the rev hang. I think it might just be worth to fork out the extra money for an STI at this point. Or even go with a Golf R
Lesson here is.... Subaru is making cheaper, and cheaper components by dialing them down to minimum stock power those parts have to handle. I wouldn't mod any Subaru, unless all related components are upgraded as well.
I do agree with this to an extent. Car manufacturers are using cheaper materials. I've been driving a 2997 Ford Taurus while my car is sitting waiting on the parts to get here and the 1997 Taurus has almost no rattles or vibrations while my 2022 sounded like it was rattling apart 3 months into owning it. Subaru wrx transmissions have always been very bad though.
@@StreetInspired1 my thought was to emphasized that just because it's a sportscar doesn't mean it has any extra room for power planned in its components (WRX or STI or BRZ). Subaru is a budget brand - nobody should expect Porsche levels of engineering and manufacturing. Many ppl know this, but still too many believe in fairytales.
I can see your pov. But also understand this car is making double the Torque the factory intended and I can count 6 local people that I know who have blown their wrx transmissions. Most people this happens to and they sell their subaru and never buy one again. It's happened to me this many times because I've owned 4 wrxs and every one was making much more than stock power and I have fun with them. At some point it just gives.
Other tuners have mentioned that they thought anything approaching 400ft/lb of torque was not a good idea on our VB stock transmission, so I was surprised with your choice of tune. Glad you made this video, hopefully other VB owners can take note.

Do what you got to do, turn the power down, enjoy the car for many, many miles :) Good luck!
Good luck brother , you got a good head over your shoulders. That’s definitely the right choice. Looking forward for the next video
It's 100% drive style. I'm sitting at 400 wheel in my 15 wrx for the last 30k miles and I"m at 100k now.
I get that it could be hit or miss, but blowing up 3 transmissions...
This is true. Over 97% of WRX owners will not even swap in an STi transmission.
Ouch... You are a G for dealing with all this on your own, bro!
This man has the worst luck with Subies. Still loving the channel.
*has the worse luck with everything 😂
It’s not luck , or a lack of it. He knew the risks. When modding to the extent that he did, it wasn’t a matter of if it was a matter of when
@WREXVB You are 100% correct. However some people get lucky and run power like this for a long time with no issues. So it wasn't bad luck that it happened, but I could've had more good luck in it lasting. Lol
Not bad luck when he’s putting 450 HP on a factory wrx transmission lol.
Due to the split case design in the wrx there isn’t much to fix it…STI transmission is bulletproof at these power levels
I was just thinking of turning my 21 in for a 22 due to the low mod installs BUTTTTT im good Now! Good Luck Brotha.
Good luck bro. Sad to see this but I’m sure you will be back together in no time!
From what im seeing, it seems like people are staying 330hp 350ftlbs
Destroyed the clutch when the transmission locked. Who knew that could happen? I certainly did not. I hope you are back on the road soon.
damn that really blows, hopefully you can recoup most that money on this new wrx trans though once you swap to sti later, assuming we dont have this one blow on you too lmao. Reel back the tune a little bit and should be okay id imagine though, always love seeing the honesty though people need to see the dark side of everything modding can bring too some people think its bulletproof and will be fine "no way that would happen to ME, i drive fine!" lol

Thanks for the transparency ! Love the channel brotha !
Im not sure if you heard or not but those plastic reducers in the Radium kit are breaking. Mine broke at 3k miles. PCV side
I haven't heard of this until now. I'll have to keep an eye on mine.
This makes me anxious mann 😫 goal with mine is 350hp/350 tq.
I didn't complain. I simply stated that I blew it lol I knew it was gonna happen.
We've all been waiting for you to break something big. 😁
Glad I didn't disappoint 😂
Thank god the clutch gave out and didnt tsow out the engine. Clutch did its job. Its made to be the weak point. Also how is the rear diff?
If you've blown 3 wrx transmissions you ever think the problem might be you?
Did I ever say it wasn't? I'm adding more power to a car that has a notoriously weak transmission. I expected this to happen. I don't beat the living shit out of my cars but I don't baby them either. So it's only a matter of time when you're doubling the factory torque and actually enjoying the car.
@@StreetInspired1 Notoriously weak when you basically double the torque maybe, but to say it can't handle stock power is a bit of a stretch
@@StreetInspired1you are brain dead for even thinking about modding a WRX THERE 20 WAY BETTER CARS THAT CAN HANDLE AND LOOK BETTER AND MORE RELIABLE BRAIN DEAD SUBIE FANS
How come no one makes a aftermarket transmission?
350ish is max "mostly safe" number. Im at 360 with e65. Don't beat her everyday. 400/450 is asking for blown parts
These new cars are at their limits. You can't mod them anymore
Basically just don’t go full bolt on and aim over 400whp unless you’re expecting the transmission to go like a time bomb
I blew mine in my 2012 , retune and return to stock , and dealer warranty it lol I was lucky , have you thinking to do the same so you don’t pay out of pocket ?
My 22 transmission messed up today. Stock tune. 13,435 miles.
How?
Subie really should have put the STI drive train in the car, esp. if not making an STI. Make it a drive train upgrade or something. I think pushing this car to 350hp is plenty and probably OK to run as a daily. Otherwise, I'll be trading mine in for a Bimmer in a few years.
That would’ve just been an STi. That’s what separates it from the WRX.
I believe something is in the works from Subaru.. just rumors though
Respect my friend, thanks for sharing
😢 sorry man ! Thanks for the information, on a good note … u save $$ by knowing how to fix it yourself ..
dang, sorry about the trans. Your option sounds like a solid one.
I was under the impression that TQ kills the transmission; Just bring TQ down around 350-375
Just say no to ethanol unless you have an STI Trans. Ignore that and your loose another. My VB trans swap with all supporting mods including engine mounts, DSS shaft and all new OEM seals cost me just over 10k.
Man that sucks bad! Looking forward to the swap. This is why i structured my tune to have less low end more top end
I am a new 2023 owner, I just wanted 300 whp and a trans that would hold it until 100k
Thanks for sharing your experience.

Sorry off the topic of your transmission swap but did you change out your LPFP "in tank pump" with your e85 tune? Sorry to hear about the trans.
Still a fully stock fuel system! On my VA I had to upgrade the LPFP to run E60.

Good excuse to keep factory exhaust... so we can hear parts breaking. :S

RIP mighty glass WRX trans 🙏

This; Usually TQ is what kills the trasmissions
I blew my trans at 7k miles on the 22 and did an sti swap about 10 months ago 😅trans is definitely a weak point along with headstuds

Isn’t the part that failed stronger in the ACT kit?
Cheers from Orlando!
You'd think they would upgrade the transmission on these cars by now sheesh. At least you're able to do the work yourself and save some money that way.
Why you could not use old transmission just replacing flywheel and clutch ? Was it any other damage you have not shown on the video ?
Yeah the transmission was the main problem. The transmission broke and binded up which is what broke the clutch.
@@StreetInspired1 Ah, got it. I got an impression that clutch was the main cause. Good thing that it did not affect the motor.
Total milage and milage on your most recent power tune?
I did mention that in the video but there's just over 10k miles on the car and probably 5k of that was over 400, maybe 2k of that was over 450
@@StreetInspired1 I might of missed it, but you only mentioned the former.

Transmission will be changed and the problem will be solved, but you are creating great content that holds way higher value.

With the money you are spending on that, you might as well sell your WRX one and get a STI drivetrain
