Im happy that you're getting tuned! Personally, after my whole Facebook debacle I can't look at Clark Tuning in a positive light ever again. I kind of want to bring him to TunerTalk just so I can argue with him 🤣
Great Tutorial and run through of everything! The best part is this works for any platform using Cobb so you have probably helped a lot of people feel more confident in an E-Tune great jobs on the videos hope to see more!
300 is a fun number. My 18 wrx made 300 whp with an exhaust intake and tune. The car has been at this power for almost a year and has been nothing but fun.
not bad bud! 2020 wrx, same mods but with a boomba bpv for noise and i made 288 whp and 305 wtq. even though it was a massive bump in power, it fixed all the issues with driving that i hated about the wrx and now reminds me of driving an older wrx from the mid 2000's. obviously the twinscroll turbo has a lot less lag but with the tune it lags a little and it adds so much more fun to the car, that and no twitchy throttle feels more akin to a wire throttle body.
@@BoostedFA yeah for sure. have a stock 2020 veloster n and im not going to do anything to it. Had 2 wrxs and an sti back in 2011-2012. they were great cars. . my s14 has 475 to the wheels and its super fun dont get me wrong but its a hassle to drive sometimes.
Working with Clark right now, so far it’s going great. Only have J-pipe/catback. Pretty straight forward with what to do and how to do it. Thanks for the video! Hoping my Clark Turner Tune goes smoothly well worth it with that loud aggressive exhuast.
Love the videos…great info. I’m new to the whole “tune via-e-mail” thing, so excuse my ignorance, but how are you verifying HP? Are you using a dyno or does the software just estimate? Thanks!
Did everything exactly the same. Besides, I actually used a battery charger now even though that wasn't the issue. It was better safe than sorry. I've flashed the car 9 times since the ecu situation and it's been fine!
Hi thank you for the video, after purchase from Clarks Website how long until you get a basemap? need to know if I should start installing parts before the basemap or not. thank you
Glad your tune with Clark went well. Mine did not. Had my 2007 STI tuned by Clark. Was not very happy with the results overall (throttle seemed to go from 10% to 100% with very little "in-between"). I had an issue with my turbo outlet pipe coming undone (was running 25PSI, so not unexpected) and his attitude was very poor when either one of these issues came up. There also was no 'over boost' protection during the initial tunes and one of the first couple pulls it went to 34PSI and I ended up with coolant in the oil and had to redo the headgasket. Basically if you are doing anything more than the super basic "intake, exhaust" I would not go to him.
@@BoostedFA It's a long story, but I actually went to Clark because it was a pain to deal with the shop most local to me. Nothing wrong with the shop, they did great work. It's just that back and forth was about 2 hours each way and if anything went wrong during the tune (which it did) it was a real pita. So I thought "why not just do an E-Tune". Well Clark was just the wrong guy. I switched to another E-Tuner and it was a much better experience.
Which one? I didnt find clark especially pleasant or receptive to questions either. Tuned 3 times, live in phoenix and never tuned w him but i hear great things too.
I pretty much only have 91 octane gas readily available around where I live. Anything higher would be for specialty off road vehicles mostly and probably twice the price as 91- probably more. I'd love to see how much more power a good tun can get with 91 fuel.
It's the optional sleeve that comes with the ETS intake that goes inside the maf sensor housing. He wants that to be removed for more airflow. It's only provided from ets to make it closer to the stock size so you can run it on an oem tune, but with a protune, it can be removed. Hope this helps!
Recently had Clark tune my 2019 WRX. And unfortunately, I am having nothing but issues getting super high finne knock learn and damn drops. brought this to Clark’s attention and he says that it is normal lol
Is your fine knock learn over 1.41? This is certainly common. I think over 2.5 degrees is unacceptable. Edit. Quick question. When you are seeing these knock values, is it pulling out after sitting at a red light?
@Alex Nye I would see these values on CoBB OTS tune all the time... once pro tuned they went away.. I had a couple instances of bad gas where I would get a little knock... I see 1.41 daily, but it's only for a brief second. Not during WOT though.
@@BoostedFA yeah. I’m saving up for a new tune. Sad thing is I just paid for this tune last month lol. Not sure why he thinks 4.22 fine knock is “normal”
@Alex Nye while all gas cars will knock, them numbers your best bet brother is to visit a reputable pro tuner. I believe the car will run smoother. Are you also seeing feedback knock?
I have a stock 2018 WRX CVT🤫 I was wondering if I could tune it while stock and how reliable it is. I just want a basic tune sort of like you did here. I am not looking to get any crazy power but just something to make it more fun to drive! Any suggestions? Can't wait to hear people rag on My CVT 😂
You certainly can! The only issue currently is that Cobb doesn't support the CVT yet, but once they do I would definitely recommend checking out a tune!
Not at this power level. My VA wrx held 400whp for 17k miles and then the transmission went out. But when I pulled the transmission, the clutch was still good 😂
I'm interested in what an aftermarket TMIC can do for performance. Information is a bit thin online and I haven't run across any hard numbers. There's going to be a slight pressure drop compared to OEM, but if that loss plus a bit extra can be added back without raising the manifold air temp it's gotta count for something. I just don't know how much an experienced tuner can squeeze out of that mod alone, but I'd like to...
@@StreetInspired1good to know, principle behind both is the same. Can't expect as much from a TMIC, but it seems the improvement in performance could at least be noticeable.
Cobb is finalizing 2023 support, but it should be available soon. I would just keep an eye out for it. Once it is this tuning process will be exactly the same! Hope this helps.
@Street Inspired with the 93 tune, in term of power - does it feel like it pulls as hard as say a va sti? i come from owning 06/07 sti's. want to buy one of these but the test drive felt so numb. and the price out the door was like 39k all said and done. help persuade me your thoughts if you can
@Travis Watson I will say on the 93 tune its putting out 333whp. I've driven a few stock sti, a stage 1 sti and a 450whp sti. This definitely pulls harder than a typical "stage 1" sti. It feels great. I just hate that it's the same crappy wrx transmission. These will make over 400whp on 94 with a downpipe, intake, and Intercooler. Very impressive but I'm worried about the transmission more than anything.
Correct! As long as you have the parts you want, the Accesport, and a computer you can buy an e-tune and do it this way without ever taking it to a physical tuning location
It's worse. Not by a lot but the full e85 tune requires more fuel than 93 so spirited driving will burn up the fuel faster than spirited driving on 93oct
@@StreetInspired1 mind sharing what you feel is your strongest log on e85 so i can plot it against mine for comparison. My vd says 403whp but its meaningless by itself. Or if youd prefer i can send you my logs to plot against yours, again, to have some type of real world comparison.
@@StreetInspired1 yes i did. Id love to see Clarks tune compared to Drunkmann, Corbin and Mikey. Also send me transmission details (sti what yr or oem) and tires and wheels specs you used during logs. Also any additional weight aside from your 150-160ish lbs? 😜
It's a virtual dynojet. They're pretty accurate. Usually within 3% or so of an actual dynojet. Wind and road conditions can mess with the results so I always try to log on flat even roads.
Great video and explanation of the process! Glad you are back on the road!! Do you think it’s safe to daily on e85 long term? I have e85 available 1/2 mile away, 93 available 5 miles away. So if it’s safe I’d rather get the e85 (I know fuel mileage will suffer etc)
This website has a lot of good information going over the benefits of E85. I think it's a great fuel option and I personally prefer it for a daily driver. You can always do an e30-e60 blend too which will actually get better fuel economy than 93 or e85 and make about the same power as full e85. The only issue there is the extra trouble at fill up and calculating everything.
That's actually kind of a shitty thing for a tuner to say in my opinion, if you like your VA and plan on keeping it and want to modify it I think you should! They still make good power really easy. But if you plan on eventually getting a VB down the road, I would say to save your money for the VB. They're both awesome cars. I came out of a 400whp VA and I only got the VB because I crashed my VA
