This is probably his best video ever. A god dam masterpiece The one phase some go through is the your drop/deleted list becomes larger than your watched list. Usually happens when you learn your taste and don't give enough sh** for anything that can't entertain you
Same lmao. Im like 650 completed anime over past 15 years and......in the last stage indeed. No longer giving a fuck and just watch what i enjoy (still cant enjoy full girls slice of life moe anime tho)
@@invertbrid I reached the point where anime becomes boring that I dont give a fuck anymore and stop watching anime then switch to manga then to novels.
@@justakidwithnolife5671 well i can relate. Tho i dont read LN, manga only a few. But i rarely watch anime anymore nowdays (at least for past 3-4 years or so). At most maybe 3-4 anime per seasons, usually 1-2. Nowdays i play game more, PC, PS4, and mobile.

Every now and again I come back to this masterpiece of a video.True timeless classic that never gets old. Even then, having reached full acceptance for some time now, I would add some stages: after completing the cycle a number of times the specimen reaches the burnout already mentioned and takes a break from watching anything anime related for some time to just come back bc they saw a trash taste episode talking about some show that even josh the manga lad seen and either they truly return and enters the seasonal anime arms race again or they think is mid and start a new journey: The life cycle of a manga fan. But that's a tail for another time.
so basically it goes like this... **watches one anime** hey that was a pretty good show i wonder if there are others like it **likes every anime they watch** **starts getting attracted to anime girls** **hentai addiction**
Ah you must be referring to a stage in the branch where external factors cause a change in the anime fan's gene expression resulting in them morphing into what is known as a manga fan.
That’s how my anime cycle started 1: Watching shounen from childhood 2: One beautiful day watches High School DxD and then my crippling ecchi anime addiction started 3: Then when you’ve watched all ecchi anime go for the mainstream stuff 4: After mainstream stuff is over then develop a Romance anime addiction that would ruin your social life 5: from the period of 2-4 i develop a Hentai addiction, and when you’ve watched enough anime then start bing watching Hentai series 6: Regret every life choice that lead you to becoming a loner and not having friends and blaming your anime addiction for being socially awkward but then at the same time be grateful that you got to see the best the media has to offer 7: Depression, Sad and lonely all the time
you forgot that number 4 will always be in the back of the head, and you mostly still hope for that reql romance tag (not just baiting the viewer) -> then you evolve ibto manga, then LN and then fanfictions (which will truly show you all the mistakes in your favourite anime)
This is where you need to watch an anime called "Relife". Understand your mistakes and realise its not too late to get a girl who loves anime just as much as you and that's when she introduces you to Anime Movies and you start to find deep appreciation for Studio Gibli and Makoto Shinkai and your cycle resets and slip back into the not giving a fuck and just enjoying animes like new 86, AOT, Jujutsu Kaisen, Demon Slayer, platinum end, Remake our life, komisan can't communicate, and find even more appreciation for older ecchi titles like testament of sister new devil, chivalry of a failed knight, Sekerei, and plastic memories... after all is said and done you will realise that light novels are better than sliced bread and you can continue where your epic anime that never got a second season that sent you into depression in the first place left off allowing your mind to finally be at peace. This is the most important phase as because you are reading more now and still love women you will more than likely come across a book called "The Game" by Neil Straus and you start to value going out and meeting friends and picking up women over watching anime and your new life will begin :D
I am actually at this momment depressed because re:zero and i rewatched after the end and i am rewatching again and tomorrow i will buy the light novel... My brain is fucked

Been an anime fan for 10+ years and I believe I'm in the "Returning" phase. Where you watch a lot of anime, but slowly you watch less and less. Then at some point you almost stop altogether and just rewatch good anime every so often, but now that a few years have passed you come back to find a few more goodies. Likely you will leave again at some point, but you'll still watch hentai nightly.

Kene Arimah Train yourself to watch two episodes at once at all times. Learn Japanese and listen to the episodes it taped to your head while wearing glasses so you can barely see the reflection of the show. Skip through episodes, and learn to sleep at work so you can pull more all nighters. You can also research every episode, watch short clips from each one, and claim to have watched it. This my friends is what you call cutting corners.
For newer anime fans 1. Start watching 12 -28 episodes anime especially shonen 2.Gradually increse it to 100 and then more but avoid one piece 3. Dive away from shonen ro isekai and romance (and hentai) 4. Check out other genres 5. Comes back to shone because of a random TH-cam video and open up to one piece 5. Full awakening 6. Starts reading manga cause the shows taking too long 7. Starts reading light novels because the manga is taking too long (also starts reading pornhwas) 8. Depression 9. Starts goofy anime and the journey of not giving a fuck
Ah, the early months of "I watched all of the amazing stuff out here" After that comes " I know what *I* like" Witch is followed by "everything is shit because no one has taste or frame of reference"
I am proud to say that in less than 1,5 years i have been reached the "Higher state of being" Although i feel my anime cycle has been very rushed, the feelings i had in my awakening simply wont perish and i find myself challenging my mind and body trying to re-achieve the bliss i felt after watching 45 episodes in one day during my early days. I remember clearly telling my brother that my anime phase "was only going to last 2 weeks like all my other interest" only to dive so deeply into the rabbit hole that my entire personality was flipped upside down. Yes you heard me right, anime actually changed the very basics of my personality. Although corona may have contributed to this, after watching around 15 animes i started thinking a lot more, so much so that i went from and extroverted person to a introverted person. I also starting being more self aware after watching classroom of the elite, and eventually fuck i give up i dont wanna type anymore Anime fucked me up, but i love it.
REALwoombath I mean I love me a Gigguk video, and I loved this one too, but even after watching it I feel like it’s yet another Final that I’m bout to fail. 😂
I think A anime fan its more smart and creative tthen normal people, because according survey an otaku its more" thinking out the box"because you know the plot in anime its make you head its overwhalming, you are just too boring
You forgot to include that, When a anime season 1 ends and the season 2 is no where to be found for like 10 - 12 years and there is no official word about it, the anime fans end up in a depression cycle for their entire life and just end up getting forced to read the manga and cry in the corner.
Rewatching this 6yrs later and this still is true maybe even more so now. Especially since I got into anime in 2012, but it was my entire personality soon after eventhough I had barely watched any by that time
@@hollyknight5881 just by saying "if you do a whole episode you get thousands of $" I can tell you don't understand how time consuming and difficult it is to make good animations

I dunno, I feel like I skipped to the pretentious taste stage right out of the gate, probably influenced by the access limitations of Toonami and a college club that favored the modern classics. I do kind of wish I could watch more current-season shows, though, as I never get back to the shows from the end of year best lists. Still working on Little Witch Academia.
Dang Stefan, that sounds like where I'm at too. I'm 27 atm with a little over 300 anime completed as well, and I'm at the idgaf stage myself. I had a no-drop policy, followed almost every anime to air (even the unpopular ones), and my PTW list was largely untouched. I was a real jerk in anime discussions too, lol. But yeah, I eventually felt burnt out, hated the fact that I was so critical over anime, and decided to take a really long break from anime while filling the time with online games and western shows on Netflix. Now I'm feeling refreshed and just enjoying everything I watch like a complete anime newb, and it's magnificent. Who the hell cares what others think? I want to _enjoy_ watching anime. I did get back into airing anime, but I'm only watching 5 shows this season, which isn't even half of what I use to watch.
The Void is real. I remember being fifteen at my grandparents house for a week and starting Neon Genesis Evangelion, only to finish the entire series in one night, watch End of Evangelion, and then spend the next week of my stay desperately hunting down the rebuilds on pirated anime websites in an attempt to consume more of a show I had just finished. Finishing that show and realizing that I couldn’t see what happened to the characters anymore felt like loosing actual people I was close to.
My first was AoT (I know its very basic) and binged the shit out of it, then last episode of s3 pt 2 came and this big black gap in my heart came. Felt like i lost 6 family members in the same hour and I could not focus on anything for a week
I experienced the void thingy after watching Clannad. Its so good i want anime more anime like that Currently watching Miss kobayashi's dragon maid (idk if i spelt that right)
Very informative Mr. Gigguk, I learned a lot on this video of yours, will rate your in depth analysis 10/10, also will help others since it's an educational video, thank you Mr. Gigguk.
You joke, but I ACTUALLY knew someone who basically said this. I asked if he liked anime, but he only has been FMA:B. I asked if he watched anything else.... He said he loved Jonny Test. He was dead serious.
This was actually really helpful as I was starting to become burnt out on having to know every album by every 80s metal band inside and out, which is an incredibly unrealistic goal I know, but the final stage of Not Giving A Fuck is something I've needed to hear for a long time. As a content creator who makes videos about 80s rock its easy to get burnt out when you end up treating a passion like a chore, so thank you for this video.
You forgot the stage where you don't watch the last episode because you don't want the anime to end, and then the stage of regret when you remember that you haven't watched the last episode, but forgot which animes you didn't fully watch
Forgot the “Trashy Art” phase Happens when a fan gets into drawing anime which turns out to be extra cringey until they reach different paths in their evolution: Meme Artist: They become super good at drawing but they use that skill to make well drawn shitposts Hentai Artist: Turns into a hentai Artist and potentially gets a job off it. May also branch into loli hentai artist where they will forever be on the FBI watchlist Casual Artist: They’ve improved greatly and now draw wholesome fanart with the occasional ecchi bikini shot
@@Ekairah I am before the higher state of being but have ascended so far my "watching list" is an alternate "plan to watch" list but with higher priority
This is so fucking accurate. Its weird because I recently reached the last phase. Being tired of holding anime to a higher standard, I've just been watching slice of life anime recently.
Same. I hated all anime, but then I realized the reason I hated anime was because I became too picky/snobby. So I said to myself “whatever I don’t give a shit anymore I’ll just watch any trash anime” and now I like anime again. I still have tastes and genres I like/dislike ( for example I don’t like slice of life) but for the most part I’m not very picky anymore. I’ve more or less returned to my beginning state of watching only shonen. I think that’s what everyone does, they go back to whatever genre originally got them into anime.
lol dude same, I randomly stopped watching anime for a good 4 years but just recently have been binging the hell out of it. For some reason I've been addicted to slice of life/romance and I have no idea why. So many damn schools. There's some great ones though.

You forgot the one that in a desperate attempt to find good anime, you start rewatching the anime you used to think was good, realizing your old taste was trash.
Gruesome Gamers I liked what I first started on actually, blood+ and elfin lied were popular when I first started years ago. I still like them. I just can't stand them because ive seen them too many times. Get this!! Ive seen them so many times that in my subconscious mind when thinking of a name for my first born son, I named him after the main male lead in Elfin Lied, "Kota" (in the anime its actually "koda"), didn't mean to. But oh well, life is life.
This video is a masterpiece. I’ve watched it so many times over the years and still come back to it. I personally evolved into a manga reader and don’t particularly enjoy watching anime anymore, but I’m glad I discovered the medium, and rewatching my favorites while occasionally knocking a show that looks interesting to me off of the endless Plan to Watch list still scratches an itch that nothing else can.

He forgot the “this anime had a bad ending so I’m going to read manga now” phase
I was just thinking about that lmao
Or the "Oh manga/LN I have been reading a long time ago finally gets an adaption but i might not even watch it because I already know the plot" phase.
Or the "I can't wait for the next episode so I'm going to read manga now" then "I can't wait for next manga chapter so I'm going to read LN" phase.
Or just “manga was better”
An then it was Tokyo ghoul (Without :Re) and the manga ending was even worse than the anime ending...
so basically it goes like this...
**watches one anime** hey that was a pretty good show i wonder if there are others like it
**likes every anime they watch**
**starts getting attracted to anime girls**
**hentai addiction**

That’s how my anime cycle started
1: Watching shounen from childhood
2: One beautiful day watches High School DxD and then my crippling ecchi anime addiction started
3: Then when you’ve watched all ecchi anime go for the mainstream stuff
4: After mainstream stuff is over then develop a Romance anime addiction that would ruin your social life
5: from the period of 2-4 i develop a Hentai addiction, and when you’ve watched enough anime then start bing watching Hentai series
6: Regret every life choice that lead you to becoming a loner and not having friends and blaming your anime addiction for being socially awkward but then at the same time be grateful that you got to see the best the media has to offer
7: Depression, Sad and lonely all the time
So true, same here
you forgot that number 4 will always be in the back of the head, and you mostly still hope for that reql romance tag (not just baiting the viewer) -> then you evolve ibto manga, then LN and then fanfictions (which will truly show you all the mistakes in your favourite anime)
Im sad how much i really liked highschool dxd
Literally same here. Let's be loners together guys.
