    It's October 13th right now. I have a bad bearing on my #1 piston. Car runs, but, there's a high pitch squeel. I plan on replacing that connecting rod with bearing. Your videos help. I'm a scaffolder, I can afford the parts, tools and time.

    Hi Robert.
    I'm having trouble removing the upper part on the head off.
    I have removed the the 5 spark plugs and the 56 bolts off the top , it has sprung up about 1/16 inch.
    I have tried spinning the cams but it won't come loose.
    Would I have missed something, on the lower head coming up or could be jamming on the aligning lugs.
    Please help
    Thanks garry

    • @RobertDIY
      @RobertDIY  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      pull the bolts all the way out. It is hard to get off so Volvo has a special tool. One mechanic told me to stick a 3/8" short extension in the break loose points and turn it 90 degrees. I often use a 3/8" extension with a flat tip screw driver to get the pry points open. RESIST prying between the head and cam cover surfaces.

    I have V6 Accord, I removed front head, all valves are bent in front head. I need to replace all valves, will I need to lap the seat for new valves? Is it possible that pistons were damaged? will any work need to be done in the block? Also, when I reassemble how can I synchronize the cams to the crank ? The timing is off because we kept trying to start the car. Your insight will be very helpful

    • @RobertDIY
      @RobertDIY  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      Sad to say, I have no experience with those Honda V6 engines. You will likely be better off getting a head from the junkyard. If the front is bad, the rear is likely bad as well. You can check my timing video, that may help.

    Dealer supplied parts, OEM parts (same supplier to a dealer) or NOS (new old stock).. when you have a old engine with parts availability issue then upgrade and install a newer model engine. For a toy with lots of engine maintenance cheap gaskets are fine, otherwise payen brand or original Volvo. You get what you pay for in the end.

      Its a good job I saw this when I did, the method I was going to use was to line my marks back up and put the belt back on, not touching the VVT at all as it isn't spring loaded on my car so as long as the notches on the air box side lined up and my cams lined up with my marks on the engine cover I though I would be golden.
