I am soooo lucky. My cover whas broken so i got one of a other car. Since then i put 14000 kilometer on the engine. And it stil runs strong. But thanks for the info robert i wont do it ever again.
Roberts info is 100% correct. Chris, you are also correct with the caveat that you have to be lucky! if you are unlucky you will machine your head with your cams. And destroy your head.
So what are the options? Clean or replace? I just got a oil change & they told me I needed to replace my “ valve cover gasket “ & now I’m here. & I have a P3 2013 S60 T5
was going to grab a head and cam cover at the scrap yard to have rebuilt for when mine burns a valve AGAIN (all do and it will be out of the blue NO warnings ) and kept this in mind but was also thinking if this is a matched set how or is the cams part of this set ? but also if i get a head from a shop they are going to just give me what ever they got and no cover to match .
+ Robert DIY Thanks for your advices. I am disassembling the cam cover in b6304s (960) right now. Could you tell me why this cam cover separates from head everywhere but do not separate in right rear side, by the cam sensor? It do not want even back down to it's primary place. It is stuck. I do not want damage cylinder head, or am I just do it?
You told us but I didn't watch your videos before I started. I changed cam seals, I put tool on but after I put back together ....put sprockets on,took tool off,and tried to turn it over but it won't. I hand turned it. I know I got to take it apart and probably pick up valve or something. Before I start just taking stuff off. Do you have advice or videos?
Mr Robert...I believe everything is OK. I was turning the crank without the belt on ,so the cams wasn't turning. Belt on and everything is turning. I'm just waiting on the t30 bolt to get here in mail. Thank you sir.
@@RobertDIY my brother is also a mechanic but he doesn't work on Volvos could you please share with me some links to videos that can help him fix it for me?
When I read the Volvo tech book. They consider the whole thing as cylinder head. Upper part and lower part. They are basically one whole unit.
Exactly.
Useful information indeed.
Thank you, Robert
👍👍👍
You are welcome

Most machine shops know this. I usually keep the cams with the car.
