    I've had this TV 5 days, it's amazing. I only buy a TV about every 15 years or so, so you can imagine how this compares to a 14 year old LCD Samsung. Luckily I live in the North of the UK, so I don't have to worry about brightness outside. I've paired it with an LG soundbar, which is fantastic, as I can just us the LG remote for everything, and the sound is deep and full. I also managed to have a reduction of £350 on the pair.

    • @kennyj1977
      @kennyj1977 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@jerryx2000 LG 55EG920V I find all sources are really good considering. What you have to remember is if you go from your old TV to a new one the SD pictures will look similar to how they did on the old one. What I think people fail to take into account is when you watch newer stuff. ie 4k HDR - which looks amazing! But then go back to watching an SD broadcast - it's going to look pants. No amount oc electronic wizardry is going to fix that. Yes it can look better, or enhanced, but it is never going to cut it after proper 4K video.

    Had my 65" C1 for a couple months now and loving every minute of it. Breathtaking as my first oled. I have a ps5 and gaming is smooth and crisp with the 4k 120fps enabled. Practically zero (4.7ms to be exact) response time for gaming, with boost mode turned on, is life changing. I am not a pc gamer so a small monitor is out of the question for me since I use it for viewing as well as gaming. The C1 gives me the best of both worlds. Some slight calibration was done by me using various TH-cam channels to really see what this thing was capable of and I couldn't recommend it more.

    I bought a Samsung QN85a in January, sold it for $800 a few weeks ago and bought the C1 65” with a 5 year warranty. Night and day difference and on my Series X it’s amazing. While it doesn’t get as bright in HDR10 as the Samsung or the Vizio PQ65-F1 I had before that, the overall picture and color accuracy as well as the contrast ratio is phenomenal. It’s also the only tv that can do Dolby Vision @ 120hz and while it’s broken on many Series X games, it’s nice to have it for the future. The Autocal using CalMAN LG and my light meter was so streamlined and it was a night and day difference when properly calibrated. For those of you looking to get into calibration I picked up my light meter for $250 and the CalMAN LG software for $140. All in all a solid deal if you care about accurate image quality, I’m an audiophile and my 16 channel Atmos setup is about as perfect as you can get in my specific listening environment so I figured why not put that much effort into my tv. I looked at the Sony master series and the Samsung QD-OLED via a review set sent to one of my co-workers and while they’re great OLEDs there’s still issues that have to be worked out. Sony uses Samsung panels and they’re quite new to manufacturing and engineering OLED panels while LG is well into their 6th generation of having experience with it. OLEDs in my opinion are the superior choice as even with the highest level mini-LEDS with 800+ local dimming zones you still get banding and DSE due to the local dimming software attempting to keep up with the action on screen which OLEDs don’t have to deal with

    I have the LG C1 65 inch and it's a great TV but the content has to be right for it to blow my mind. For example watching Interstellar in 4K Dolby Vision was really an experience. However there are Movies and TV Shows that have a really bad implementation of Dolby Vision that make the content too dark. I just ask myself why would the creator or editor or whoever did that decide that this really dull picture is how people should see this TV Show or Movie? There should really be a standard in the industry on to master content the right way. Just because a movie or tv show says it's dolby vision won't mean it's gonna be amazing.

This year I also bought the 77 a80j and THAT is my TV of the year. The picture looks incredible more often than the C1. The C1 sometimes does look a bit dull or not calibrated properly when comparing the a80j vs the C1, though it's quite a bit brighter which sometimes makes the experience better like watching sports or gaming. Movies though are far more enjoyable on the Sony and the sound alone makes it my favorite viewing screen.

I am going to put my TV in my living room which is not too bright and too dark. I like watching movies by switching on the lights while my kids love to watch in dark.
      1) Is it really worth to push my budget $400 more ? That means, the picture/video quality in C1 is not good and I definitely need to choose A80J or the quality difference is minimal?

      I own the X930E. We watch primarily Netflix, Prime, and Hbo max streaming movies on Att Uverse. Also football games, news, and Hgtv on att cable. With these sources would I notice a big difference in picture quality. We have the 65 inch btw. I am wondering if it is worthwhile to upgrade?

      @@dry509 It's hard to say honestly. The 930e and 900e were some of the best televisions of that year, maybe both in the top 5. In that time sony was more into deep blacks and very high contrast ratios. None of their following leds have had better contrast, the models the next years were more into brightness which means more blooming. I had the 900e for gaming and it was a pleasure, but the LG is snappier with noticeable lower input lag. I own the 900F too in my living room and its a gorgeous screen too. I saw the amazon series Taboo with tom hardy on it yesterday and i thought, what a beautiful picture...upscaled 1080p, then I went into my mancave and watched the exact same episode on the LG Oled. First I thought the sony has done it better, the image was...smoother with nice contrast
      But after a few picture settings the LG took the lead. So it was close it's not day and night. I depends on your room (although I found the G1 to be pretty strong in a lighted room with a window on the left angle) and what you want to see. Gaming no doubt G1 wins. A good mastered 4k series stream G1 wins. Poorly optimized cable content and normal full hd streams, maybe the sony wins it's close. For that reason I have kept the sony for two weeks, too see the real difference. I thought the biggest Oled concerns would be brightness and motion and maybe pink tint...but that's absolutely no problem in a moderate or dark lit room.

      @@dry509 oh I forgot the burn in thing. For news and football with static elements...I don't know. There are multiple owners out there with no problems with that scenario...but I don't know what it would look like after 3 years or so. I don't wanna babysit it too much but I also feel a little uncomfortable with static elements in my ps5 games. So I take a break every few hours and play some normal content, the other work to keep the panel healthy should be done by the cleaning algorithm. That's one of the reasons I bought the G1 evo panel, less heat, less stress, less burn in risk.

    Got a C1 55” a couple of weeks ago and, as you said, it blows my mind every time I turn it on. Yes, if it’s a dark scene on a bright sunny day there are reflections but no worse than my curved screen Samsung LED. If the picture brightens I can’t see them plus my eyes seem to adjust to what I’m watching and my brain ignores them. Yes, it could be a little brighter - the Xbox interface is particularly dull, but overall it’s plenty bright enough. I figured they’ve come down so much in price it wasn’t even worth waiting for Black Friday. John Lewis are giving a £100 gift card so that effectively means it’s cost me £1199. I did take out the accidental damage insurance as it covers screen burn but, tbh, I don’t really see this being a problem. I also got an aftermarket stand so I can use my Bose soundbar without it getting in the way. Overall, I could not be happier with my new tv and your video played a big part in my decision so thank you very much.

    Gaming is just incredible on the C1. 4K @ 120Hz and GSync/FreeSync are are included on the C1. $1099 for the C1 is a steal for anyone looking at an overpriced, low quality panel gaming monitor. Can’t believe what you get here for just over $1000, when a “high quality” 34 inch 1440p monitor can cost just as much or more.

    Even OLED can still give me eye fatigue from looking at bright highlights too much but it's not nearly as bad.
    There is a place for both QLED and OLED, sometimes I like to use one over the other, but the C1 is effectively perfect as long as you never use it as an office monitor.

      Dude I think you just sold me on this TV.. I also have the Q8FN and I've never really liked it much. And actually over time, I've started to like it less and less. As you say, the thing is TOO bright. A dark scene will look great but then it switches to an outdoor scene and it's so obnoxiously bright I want to reach for my sunglasses. No settings adjustments seem able to really dial this out too much. It just wants to have this totally extreme contrast between dark and light.

    I’m less interested in gaming and feel like the A80J would be better for movies (based on other reviews I’ve seen) but Sony’s support record, particularly relating to updates, and licensing for iPlayer etc is pretty poor. This feels like the sensible buy, especially at £200 cheaper. I’ve still got an old Panasonic plasma but will probably get the 55” if they drop closer to 1k around Black Friday. Difficult to justify the price to my other half while the plasma still works fine though.

    the C1 is also offered as a monitor for both pc and gaming but it continously dimms down the brightness dramatically whenever it thinks there is not much going on on screen. this not only happens in the desktop, it also appears with full screen animated backgrounds as well with slow or dark movies!!

  • @X-Factor-22
    @X-Factor-22 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

    I’ve had mine( C1-65’) for about 4months now and I absolutely love it! I’m not even angry that the price has dropped because I’ve been enjoying just about every aspect of the C1!
    I primarily got it for gaming and I was able to get my hands on the Xbox S to really see what the C1 could do with the next-gen consoles! It definitely didn’t disappoint, even though the Xbox S isn’t true 4K, the optimization features on the C1 was able to compensate where the Xbox S fell a little short graphically and I do mean LITTLE because there’s not a big gap between 1440p and 4K. But the performance options for the Xbox S and the C1 go together perfectly. So I can only imagine how the PS5 will perform with the C1….when they actually become available for retail.

    Morning, I was just about to order a 65 inches C1 (in England) and seen a load of posts in sky TV forums and reddit regarding HDCP 2.2 errors on the latest batch of C1s. So not displaying UHD via HDMI. Have you or any recent owners experienced the same issues/has a software update been released? My back up was the QN95a but I understand that they are also having the same issues 🎃

    Using a 48" c1 as a desktop monitor. Desktop items and Taskbar are set to hide and wallpaper engine runs a cyberpunk rain scene that shifts as the mouse moves and constantly has a rain in glass effect to keep the pixels changing. No burn in. Love it.

The TV was highly rated in the reviews for gaming. Very impressed with the picture and TV itself looks fantastic with no bezel around it and it’s so thin. 4 HDMI 2.1 ports USB ports etc. bought an extended warranty with it too.
