  • It’s been 9 months since the LG C1 OLED launched, and having used it for thousands of hours for movies, TV shows and gaming, this is my long term review. Is the C1 OLED the best TV to buy, and would I still recommend it?
I’ll cover picture quality, gaming, burn-in, UI improvements and my honest experience. I’m using the 77” LG C1 with the PS5 and Xbox Series X #OLED #LGC1 #TV

@SpawnPoiint - would you ever consider doing a full in depth settings video ?
What you use for TV, SDR, HDR etc. and gaming ? For example do you use 4:4:4 PC mode for consoles ? Dolby Vision or HDR ? HGIG or DTM ?
This TV has so many different settings and options - it gives a lot of choice and experimentation.
Hope you consider doing one - Thanks 👍

Had the 55” C1 since early April and it’s just the perfect TV, you can’t beat its design, it’s so stylish. The picture quality is just amazing too. There is an option to stop the dash loading everytime you turn the TV on, liveplus maybe, not sure. Also you can clear the cache in the menus and this makes apps and menus open quicker. Gets tiring hearing comments about ‘enjoy the burn in’ anyone who actually knows what they’re talking about would know that burn in is a non issue in normal usage.

My only issue with my C1 is I need to turn TPC off in the Service Menu to watch Dolby Vision. Terrible ASBL which hopefully they’ll fix. Tired of screen dimming down in dark scenes. No issues with standard HDR or SDR. Watch Dolby Vision with TPC on & if there is a dark scene, brace for the TV to start dimming down till you can barely see anything at all. lol

    Top content, as usual.
I own a 65 inch C1 for my living room, and a 48 inch C1 for my gaming room, and both performs absolutely stuning.
I've received many comments about how the CX is much brighter and I should move to a CX for my living room (surrounded by windows), but honestly i've never needed to boost the brightness to get a perfect performance. My brightness is usually somewhere between 55% and 65% of brightness, and 80% OLED pixel brightness, and I consider that more than enough. I can't really think of using more brightness without burning my eyes.
I used to own a Samsung Q6FN that shines for it's brightness and the experience (only talking about brightness) was not much different.
I already have over 3.000 hours of use in my 65 inch C1 and there is not even one mark on the OLED panel. Burn in is clearly on the past.
    Keep it up, mate!

I wouldn’t say it’s not a risk for moderate or heavy use if it’s mixed content. I have a C1 and it has slight burn in but not noticeable still on most content until you get to blues/purples/pinks on almost a full screen. To be fair I cannot blame the technology cause I used mine extensively on one game for 4-7 hrs a day(not exaggerating) for about 8 months. I understand my use is not heavy or moderate but extensive compared to others but it’s still there. I’m keen to see what these qd oleds by Samsung will do. There is still no better option for color/picture quality though which is sad because I had to go back to an ips computer monitor to save the life of the tv and move it to the living room for more moderate use.

I've had the 77" C1 for about 6 months now and before settling on this I had the G1, A80J and A90J as other contenders but I don't at all regret getting the C1 as I think the quite a bit extra dosh for the evo panel in the G1 and A90J was not worth it as the extra brightness was a very small evolution rather than something more groundbreaking.

    • @alyssacrypto
      @alyssacrypto 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

I agree. Considering our eyes adjust to perceived contrast dynamically? Only in side by side would we REALLY notice this "30% brightness" increase between different OLED. And since OLED is already supreme in contrast due to each pixel on/off capability, its even less so important to pay more for this minor APL and peak spec. Again unless you watch super bright LCD in the 1500 nit range in a different room and then go straight to the OLED in the same night... yeah you might feel its a bit dim doing that immediate comparison.

Just picked up a 65" C1 yesterday, and I've got to say that so far it has been mind blowing.
Both XSX and PS5 games look amazing on it, and more importantly, feel amazing. Streaming content looks so real it feels like you could touch it. I got really lucky with the color as it is pretty accurate out of the box.
Coming from a Sony X900h the standards for picture quality were high but the step-up is quite apparent. I was looking at the A80J as well but all the gaming features were hard to pass up for $200 less.
One thing the X900H definitely did better was upscaling. Playing older Xbox titles definitely looked better with Sony's processing but not by a night and day margin. The sound on the Sony I think was also better, so a soundbar will probably be in my future which is another benefit of the extra HDMI 2.1 inputs as Sony's two limits configurations.
Really can't go wrong with this set.

1080p content looks almost 4K. The Blacks still look incredible. Watching the Australian Open final today was a double treat.
I use my P.C to game and engaging VRR at 4k@120 is awesome. I do active the gaming dashboard just to see the "Nvidia Gsync" logo. Yes, odd behaviour I guess!
Sound is good from my wall mounting.position although I use my A/V reciever for movie time.

Even games like Dead Space 2 with the fps boosted to 60, look and feel incredible. Funnily enough, Dolby Vision is my main gripe with this TV as everything with it on seems to look too dark, even with the brightness settings adjusted. So far those are the two deficiencies that frustrate me. Because of the stutter I found a Pioneer Kuro 50" to tide me over and hope to some day repair my LG 60PA6500. I'd get a Kuro 60" but at 133 pounds it is too heavy, especially since the 55G2 weighs 37 pounds without the stand and 47 pounds with the stand. The 55C1 weighs 42 pounds without the stand and 51 pounds with stand.
One thing I really appreciate with the C1 GUI is that it is not cluttered with apps. It isn't a "Smart" TV in that sense but it should appeal to those of us that prefer "Dumb" TVs. I use a Fire Cube for my apps.
The other thing I appreciate is that when tuning a weak signal the display does not get blocky, unlike the 60PA6500 where I had to enter APS mode to be able to watch an OTA channel. Thank goodness it has a good ATSC tuner.

Nice OLED! I have one and I love it. I’m also glad you mentioned image retention too. I was pretty concerned about that myself

The c1 is an amazing jaw dropping tv no doubt about that. But I feel like qleds just can't be overlooked.
Im currently playing the uncharted 4 update on the ps5. Started it on the my c1. Decided to hook it up to my qled (q90t) to play on the couch (using OLED as pc monitor). Holy hell what a difference it was. The qled just smacked me in the face. That hdr brightness, colors popping. The Scotland mission where you are outside during the day was so much better on the qled. I was literally blinded by the sun. Ofc when you go to a darker scene, that's where the c1 shines. But the q90t doesnt do too bad as well. I felt like I just wanted to continue the game on the qled.
Really excited to see the new qd OLEDs. If they can merge these two tvs together I'm definitely going to be looking into those if they don't cost an arm and a leg.
    Great video as usual mate!

LG C1 is definately the best for gaming on XSX, PS5 and watching movies.
Got it last year on sale, after using C6 for 4 years.

Thank you for making me purchase this tv. I remember few months ago I was watching videos on QN90A and this. And one of things I loved about your video was how your tv was in a well lit room and that solidified the deal for me.
Now I cannot go back to led TVs 😂.

I looked at this TV but chose the A90j. More expensive but the sound and having a Google OS made it worth the extra. The lg is still a good value TV however.

Value TV? Get the f*ck out of here. Who do you think makes the OLED panel for Sony?

I’m so jealous of the black PS5. That was the main reason why I didn’t want to buy it at launch. Black on electronics is just more clean and sleek to me. It’s ironic how Sony finally releases more panel colors but not more consoles😂

Great review, really helps me. I was going back and forth between a 65" C1 or 75" TCL R646. I typically sit 9 feet away which is fine for 65" but sometimes I sit 12-13 feet back on a farther couch and could be not as good viewing on a 65 vs 75, but the quality difference just seems like its worth it and to just try and sit 9 feet away as much as possible lol

Just got my C1 yesterday and it already blows my mind and blows away any tv I have owned. It pretty much has every feature I need and the PQ is just stunning so I have no need for any more tv's at this point. I own the LG B10 OLED as well which is going to my wife. My B10 is excellent as well but compared to my C1? There is no comparison is all I will say. Excellent video.
