I watch a lot of fishermen on youtube, but THIS is what I have been waiting for more than anything. Thank you for bringing back some of the best fishing content on youtube.
So have I, had really good luck this past weekend with a fire tiger Berkely 60mm Wakebull. The Fox river where I fish has really poor visibility (kind of looks like chocolate milk) and the bass can't see jigs but man they nail the loud cranks.
Rumor-mill be damned! lol...what a great sense of humor you have...it comes standard with your towering intellect. But seriously, I'm surprised you don't "winter" down in Florida mentoring under Roland Martin catching "largies" in the swamps..."life goals".
it is just such a darn good feeling to be back on the water isn't it.. Dang am ready!! although at 67 I can not do a kayak I would be to stiff and sore after about 15 min. But I can still get around from the boat or from the bank... thanks for the share.. I am getting stoked..
Good to see you back in action!! Thanks for treating your releases with such respect - many fisherman fling the fish like it's a piece of trash. Very hard on an already tired fish. Here in WI we can't keep any smallies until late June but they are certainly a blast to catch!

Excellent results although I’m beginning to suspect that all those chunkie smallmouths are part of your production team that you’ve released to take up their designated locations.
If you spend a lot of time fishing water 6ft or less the Power Pole is definitely worth the money. I doubt I would have caught half these fish without it. The current swept me away pretty quick when I didn’t have the stake down.

I fished all opener weekend on my favorite river that I've fished for years and not even a bite. Water was kinda high but clear. Pissed me off honestly. That river your on is a gem and I'm jealous!!!

I’m always curious how do you know what stretches of river are holding fish?! I live in the north metro (MN) and always stay in my “comfort zone” I wanna try some other rivers but I’m afraid I’ll get stuck not knowing what the river conditions are gonna be like. Do you research spots? Or just go for it?
I have several years of experience on this river so I know where to start based on success from previous years. There’s also about a dozen different spots I’ll launch at with various current speeds so if one spot looks too fast I’ll try another. And if all else falls I’ll go hit a lake and try for largemouth.

I bet people who like to fish in Minnesota look forward to warmer weather, the winter weather there can be brutally cold with lots of snow. Having a Power Pole is a nice accessory on a kayak to fish places like this.
Fantastic 1st video of the season! Ever use a tube? The smallies around here (indianapolis) love green pumpkin stupid tubes. Tubes rigged stupid style are great for rivers & creeks because they are weedless and don't snag much.

Frank is right, I have one fast action rod I use for heavier jigs but all the rest of my jig rods are extra fast.
Yea I got 7 ft Penn xtra fast.it is stiff but I think it should be ok using flouro or mono.
