I started taking magnesium L threonate about 10 years ago. My headaches which I've had for 20 years went away, insomnia went away, leg cramps went away and so did my menstrual cramps. Amazing! The best thing is that these symptoms have not come back despite only taking it for about 30 days every year now. It's too expensive for me to take more often than that.
I really like how you call us “friend”. Appreciate all that you do to bring info to us. Thank you. I was taking magnesium but haven’t lately- good reminder why.
Interesting that my mother slept 8-10 hours a night her whole life (and never moved during the night); however, died of Alzheimer’s at 83. In her case, sleep didn’t regenerate the hippocampus while she slept. I was always jealous of her ability to fall asleep and sleep so soundly. I do miss her so much….
HappyPerson- Other things that increase risk of Alzheimer's & other dementias: Insulin resistance , as well as excessive added sugars and/ or high carb diets (because these deplete B1 & Magnesium). Hippocampus is very sensitive to B1.
@ Appreciate your comments. My mother’s brain doctor from Cleveland Clinic had her taking “B” vitamin shots. His advice to me, my brother, and sister was to get as much fat as we could into our diet for our brain. I can say that if I don’t get fat from heavy whipping cream/butter every day, I’m a bit out of sorts. I do remember my mother ate a very high carb diet. I’m not sure if she was insulin resistant or not but she did have an A1C of 4.4 when she died. I do believe the next few years will show a break through of what causes dementia and Alzheimer’s. Have a wonderful New Year!
@happyperson8740 thrilled to hear that a modern doc understands fat and B vitamins are crucial for brain health (plus many other functions). One final nugget: I know it's shocking, but A1c is actually not reliable for diabetes because of 2 things.. 1) the more your red blood cells are glycated (sugar coated), the lower the A1c because it shortens lifespan of red blood cells! 2) A1c is affected by many different chronic conditions. I sleep so well with this magnesium. Someone told me to purchase mag glycinate, and I wake up a few hours after going to bed. Just placed an order! I need to sleep 😊

Hmm... I've been taking Magtein for a few years now, but only before bed. I often also take glycine with it. That combo does improve my ability to get to sleep but it doesn't help if I wake and have a hard time getting back to sleep. I've tried inositol for that but haven't found it to be helpful.
