Oh my ..Memories of the family touring Wales in the 1950`s when i was a mere child in Uncle Bill`s Zephyr 6 ,ignoring Dad`s Ford Y type.

I find it easier to take the distributor out doing points, very clean rocker train when you removed the rocker lid.
    Interesting upload Mart.

Love the Zephyr Mart. I always want a Mk 1. When I was 17 I wanted to buy one but the old man said "you're not getting one of those they're a 'bodgies' car and you will kill yourself in that" ( a bodgie is a bit like a 'Ted' in the UK ). Settled for a IIIB Minx with the rolled over fins..at least it looked American in style. That tannish colour is actually called Dorchester Grey.

that was interesting Mart. Ford sold some of those little British imports here but I've never been up that close to one. Surprised its a six cylinder. Remarkably free of rust considering it's age. Looks like it has good potential of being a driver.

Roosty you could get a 4 called a Consul. Different grille, rectangular mouth organ style.

Yellow bulbs were fitted for better vision in fog back in the 60s

Yeah, I am old enough to remember some proper pea-soupers. Good point about the bulbs, I hadn't thought of that. Thanks for watching and commenting.

My father had one before I was born. I think they were very quick cars for the time. He sold it for a Morris minor traveller in about 1963. Great video.

Nice old Zephyr... back in 80's you could buy new door skins and sills for $11 here in nz. The classic hockey stick exhaust can be replaced with extractors but don't use aluminum spacers because they'll explode with the heat (speaking from experience). Also the rear axles tend to break because of the corse splines in the diff. But hey... you guys know all this I'm sure.
    Great looking car.

Wow the Zephyr is in great condition! Nice work so far, although personally I would have done a more thorough job of dropping small parts into the abyss. However, I'm willing to overlook that error because you included an excellent Classic Darts investigation.

Hi Trev, It's a survivor. Yes, it was not bad considering it has been parked under a tarp for a few years.

Hey Mart, if you took off all the fenders it'd be a lot easier to work on.👍

The Consul/Zephyr was the first Ford UK car to be 12 Volt. The last vehicle to be 6 Volt was the 103E Popular produced until 59.
