Asylum was great but not as good as City. Frankly, City was the most cohesive experience and best overall imo. Still think Asylum tramples Knight though despite being a linear experience
@Samuel Geaney Fair. I don't prefer to be too constrained if I don't have to so City was the perfect amount of space for me with interesting quests all throughout (loved the Zazz phone calls) but that aside I can say that City objectively has the best story, not even up for debate on that one 🤣

Stuff like this shows how much the developers cared about the property they were working on. Every chance they got they squeezed something in, showed how much they loved it, how deeply they were invested in the history and stories.

Hearing Kevin Conroy again after his passing hits so hard! I never grew up with TAS, but his voice is what I hear when I read the comics! That's how ingrained into everyone's minds he is!
I grew up with Batman TAS. When I first played Arkham Asylum, it felt like I was playing an episode of Batman TAS, which made me love the game even more! The game sharing a lot of the same voice actors with TAS is really cool. Since I didn't play Batman Arkham Asylum when it first came out, I got to play Arkham City right after beating Arkham Asylum. Also, Arkham Origins isn't as bad as people make it out to be.
The combat sequence at 1:53 looks so smooth. The way Bruce’s position seamlessly matches the animation for the takedowns is *chef’s kiss*. This game was seriously the peak of modern gaming at the time.
from what Ive heard by people who tried to copy this fight style in their game and analyzed it a lot, its actually simple in concept, but requires a ton of animation work to be done that well. No wonder it looks so smooth then. If for those combinations you have matching animation moves to transition to
I was always impressed how many different takedowns and counters there were for pretty much all angles and situations. Still see some new ones to this day

And I’m pretty sure the only reason it wasn’t made by rocksteady is because they were also making knight and wanted to get them both going so they had someone else do origins while they did knight
Arkham City is such a well written game, lots of little details we don’t notice initially but extensive play throughs shows how much effort they put into the game, little details that don’t affect the story but are cool spots for the player

I have replayed this game at least 15 times over the years and I have never noticed Azrael there before. This just blew my mind at how detailed the Arkham games were and man they don’t make games like this anymore.
It's crazy how a game made in 2011 is still more revelant and insteresting than Gotham Knight's, truly shows how love, good devs and time makes a game unforgetable.

There's literally no way I'd have seen Azreal, I was too busy trying to soak in everything else. So much atmosphere, they really brought the death of the Batman world into the game.

Also 3/4 of the boss fights in Arkham are based around that goddamned Batmobile. I was so excited when they announced the Batmobile presence in the game and ended up hating it. I mean, there is no match between the Deathstroke boss fight in Origins and the "shoot the tank with the Batmobile then run and hide" in Knight. The only thing I liked in Knight more than Origins was the free roam, some parts of the story and the graphics of course.
I miss this game man. Remember getting Arkham asylum in my first months with the ps3 back in 2012, loved it. And then finally got this beauty, immediately fall in love without even starting the game ( remember those few seconds of a video playing when you selected a game from the menu and was ready to press start? ) . What a story, soundtrack, the atmosphere in general was so crazy, talking with my classmates about it... Finished it I don't even know how many times, but I have never seen Azrael right there and I always look at the helicopter 😂😂. To get around this, developer Rocksteady tried to say this white Deadshot is a fake version from another universe or something. lol
In the abomination they call Kill the Justice League, they not only race-swapped Deadshot, but they openly called the one in this game "phony steampunk ass." Rocksteady has now hit Rockbottom.

2:00 In all my years of playing Arkham City, I never even noticed that Azrael was at the beginning of this game. But then again, I never really looked up at the rooftops at this part, since I was busy dealing with the inmates that wanted Bruce Wayne dead.
I feel like Azrael wasn't in the original version of Arkham City but was added into the game when the Arkham collection came out and might be the reason we all collectively never noticed him in the prologue. Also I just started a new game of Arkham City and somehow had Black Mask in the villians codex right off the bat and this makes so much more sense why now.
It's 2023 and this game still looks and feels amazing. I recently bought a new pc and I'm trying to catch up with some of the best games of the previous gen, and my God did they nail it with the Arkham series, not even the new games in the Batman universe can't keep up with it, 10+ years after!!
@@EmperorProtects1Actually the graphics are good in some aspects Asylum- It adds rain and more detail to characters. City-Makes Batman’s costume actually dark instead of blue like it was in the original and makes joker look much sicker in the remaster.
This game will never stop impressing me, not only these villans appear at the start of the game, but also will smith was part of the develoment team, he was the lead environment artist
God these pre 2016 games were so incredibly detailed and felt impactful. Like they animated a whole set of well executed counter moves for a specific small portion of the game. But nowadays in the sequels all you do is the same boring dodge and spam hit button that feels so cheap.
I remember 12 years ago my dad bought me the collector's edition of this game for Christmas and I never knew that you could see azrael in the beginning of the game lol holy shit
Wow. I knew about Black Mask and Deadshot but not Azrael. Batman: Arkham City is definitely one of those games that you still discover secrets from to this day.
Of the three, Deadshot was actually the only one that slipped my notice when I first played. I just assumed he was just another inmate. To be fair, I didn't know there even was a character named Deadshot (the only Batman villains I really knew at the time were the 15 from the OG Lego Batman and Zsasz). I did spot Black Mask and go "man, whoever that is, they're not having a good time." Azrael I was completely lucky to see him as I had been glancing around after beating of the prisoners in order to like get a lay of the land, and I see him and went "who tf is that? Why's he pulling a Batman on Batman?"
I knew about deadshot and black mask being at the start for literally more than a decade, so the fact I'm just now finding out about azrael is insane, from me just clicking on a random video in an afternoon
Even though I have finished the game like more than a dozen times, I still didn't know Azrael was there in the beginning. This video is forcing me to replay the game again ^_^

This is so cool. I've played this game fully 5 times and this is the first time I've noticed Black mask. It took my 3rd playthrough to realize that dead shot was in the line. The Azreal reference was "chefs kiss"
Easter eggs, inside jokes, references, no politics or agendas, and staying true to the character, lore, and world’s origins and aesthetics- That is how the movies and shows should go, but unfortunately DO NOT (Will Smith’s Deadshot, Twilight boy’s Batman, and the current Flash actor can attest to that).
Genuine big Batman fan, but I never thought these games were for me until i just gave AC a fair shot the other week. Damn. It really does go hard for the fans.
My favourite part is that Deadshot outright says that Bruce is on his "list", directly foreshadowing his side quest. The amount of details put into this game was insane.

I remember this picking this gnae up at midnight release at Gamestop and playing this as soon as I got home! Walking through this scene instantly made me realize what kind of an epic gem I was about to endure for a game.
Suicide Squad Deadshot should have been Bloodsport. Like Bloodsport took up the mantle of Deadshot after the original was killed by Red Hood/Arkham Knight. Instead, SweetBabyInc either didn’t play the Arkham series, or are racist in disguise, or both? Seriously, they had an incoherent and unnecessary explanation on how Deadshot in Suicide Squad game is the real deal.

I feel like Azrael wasn't in the original version of Arkham City but was added into the game when the Arkham collection came out and might be the reason we all collectively never noticed him in the prologue. Also I just started a new game of Arkham City and somehow had Black Mask in the villians codex right off the bat and this makes so much more sense why now.

It's 2023 and this game still looks and feels amazing. I recently bought a new pc and I'm trying to catch up with some of the best games of the previous gen, and my God did they nail it with the Arkham series, not even the new games in the Batman universe can't keep up with it, 10+ years after!!
Play the four original Arkham games, don't play the remastered, they're terrible.

City-Makes Batman’s costume actually dark instead of blue like it was in the original and makes joker look much sicker in the remaster.

Absolute classic of a game
God these pre 2016 games were so incredibly detailed and felt impactful. Like they animated a whole set of well executed counter moves for a specific small portion of the game. But nowadays in the sequels all you do is the same boring dodge and spam hit button that feels so cheap.
It's also pretty cool that Arkham Knight referenced Bruce Wayne's punches feeling "familiar". 😂😂😂

Of the three, Deadshot was actually the only one that slipped my notice when I first played. I just assumed he was just another inmate. To be fair, I didn't know there even was a character named Deadshot (the only Batman villains I really knew at the time were the 15 from the OG Lego Batman and Zsasz). I did spot Black Mask and go "man, whoever that is, they're not having a good time." Azrael I was completely lucky to see him as I had been glancing around after beating of the prisoners in order to like get a lay of the land, and I see him and went "who tf is that? Why's he pulling a Batman on Batman?"

Easter eggs, inside jokes, references, no politics or agendas, and staying true to the character, lore, and world’s origins and aesthetics- That is how the movies and shows should go, but unfortunately DO NOT (Will Smith’s Deadshot, Twilight boy’s Batman, and the current Flash actor can attest to that).

After spending 76 hours looking for manbat, I actually found a secret cut scene, it was a scream from manbat and he said "I am the manbat" and started manbatting everything everywhere

I remember this picking this gnae up at midnight release at Gamestop and playing this as soon as I got home! Walking through this scene instantly made me realize what kind of an epic gem I was about to endure for a game.
Suicide Squad Deadshot should have been Bloodsport. Like Bloodsport took up the mantle of Deadshot after the original was killed by Red Hood/Arkham Knight.
Instead, SweetBabyInc either didn’t play the Arkham series, or are racist in disguise, or both? Seriously, they had an incoherent and unnecessary explanation on how Deadshot in Suicide Squad game is the real deal.
It's not really "in disguise" when they're open about it.
They're openly racist against huwhite people and the pod-dweller in charge of SweetBaby (a pathetic and infantile name in and of itself) literally said that they're trying to take over the gaming industry. It's all there, look it up.
