instant follow.. so many 3d print channels gatekeep their knowledge and you're just here laying everything out nice and simple. I really hope you make more videos beccause you're a natural with the camera and clearly know what you're doing
Who's gatekeepers knowledge?
I'm so confused 😵💫
@@Antassium alot? some dont even show you how to make a VISOR.

Great video ! I did end up using the Krylon metallic dark metal with the flat black rustoleum base and it ended up really nice.
Thank you for this video!
Great video, great helmet, great tips. Bravo mate 👏
Nice video man, super full of information for every step.
Subbed
Crazy this is your first video! Great quality!
Really good tutorial. Simple, straight to the point, real concise information. I'm looking forward to more tutorials.
Awesome video 🤙
Hey, good job! Its interesting to see other people work. When I do a helmet, I do the Priming first, then sand everything down and when there are still certain areas left to rough or tiny holes, I then use the resin to fix it out. The outcome is the same, but I think I might save some resin.
I was always worried about the resin pulling off of the primer. In my head the PLA resin bonds with the PLA print, but if you're having good success I might have to give it a shot.
Hey, amazing channel man ! Hope you do more video on futur it's gold !
Havent got a printer so i orderd one. Stoked to get it done up. I used to work as a propmaker in another life. Thanks for the video fellah.
Been working on this one myself at the moment! good luck on your YT journey subbed
Nice vid, would love to see your paint booth setup.
Can’t wait to make my own
Nice job with your first video! Keep it up!
Thanks!!
great video, super helpful, love the "Madara Uchiha" masks in the back :)
Great first video!
Thanks!
sweet stuff!! i just finished printing mine and started post processing, it was my first time printing a helmet with no supports inside and it turned out great, give it a shot next time!! my head is 23 inches and i printed it at 100% i don't find its too big but if i make another il defiantly do it around 97%/. Great work!!
Fantastic video, really enjoyed seeing your process. Looking forward to future videos. Also, would love to see a quick video about previous props you made before TH-cam.
Thanks! Will do!
I was hoping the tutorial would be on your page :) just came across the short. Looks amazing dude
Thank you! Hope it helps.
excellent video! I'm currently working on the light gunner they released.
That's awesome. Good luck!
Great video 👍
Thanks!
Dude! Awesome video, I couldn’t even tell your just starting up one it comes to making videos. I don’t play Hell Divers so I have no clue what this is other than base knowledge from being on the internet but that helmet is beautiful. I literally order a 3d printer last night for making clone helmets (it’s the P1S) this video is super helpful. I can’t wait to see your channel blow up, I would love to see a walk through your collection! It looks sick!
Thank you! I will put together a video of some my pre-youtube stuff for sure.
Would love to see a tutorial on the paint setup!
Coming soon!
First Video: Awesome. Perhaps increase mic volume overall.
Love the helmet and I’m definitely using these tips for my own! Would you mind linking the plastic sheet you used for the visor? I’m struggling to find the right one
I used these sheets and some 5% limo tint. www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B23S9RXJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1
for me the audio is very low, have to turn way up. Im printing a few of my own also, great video. Its not a huge deal but some UV glasses would be a good idea. Visors i print the blank and then use the plastic sheet and tint
I'll boost the audio a bit for next time. Thanks for the comment!
Nice build, my P1S is currently working hard printing one now.
Your paint issue with the orange peel is that you mixed paint types. That orange/yellow Montana is a lacquer meant for graffiti type art that you put over an enamel. The solvents in the lacquer are 'hotter' and will cause compatibility issues. You CAN do enamel over lacquer, though. At the end of the day, the real answer to 'Is this the right color' and 'Will these paints work together' is TEST SPRAY on scrap cardboard first!
yeah I've used that particular can of yellow on other projects with different paints and had no issues so I wasn't worried. Actually the only places that didn't orange peel on the fenders were where the two paints overlapped. Sometimes there is no rhyme or reason and it just happens. Definitely test spraying if your unsure though or using new paints.
Love it! Currently making my own (printing stage). However I missed the part where and how you attached the greeble details. Could you explain that please?
Talking about the little metal pieces on the sides? I just glued them in place after painting everything.
Very solid video and a great tutorial, first or not it's better than many! We are also making Helldiver gear, weapons and terminid heads. So keep up the great work and looking forward to more.
No real advice or feedback, you caught the things like lighting, sound and batteries dying lol! Happens to everyone and good pivots where you needed them.
The asks I have would be:
1. What filament types are you using? Why? Do you vary filaments for different pieces?
Thank you for the video!!!
I print almost exclusively in SUNLU Grey PLA+. I post-process 90% of my prints and I can get the grey for around $10-12 a roll in bulk. Same filament for all pieces.
@JohnsPrintLab Thank you, we've been using Hatchbox (Black) with good results. Any tutorials showing some of the sizing and lining for gear would be great too.
We've started doing gloves and accessories. Helmets are next then armor. Anticipating some failures, but hoping to see more tutorials as well from you to help guide us this summer.
Sizing for gear (assuming armor pieces) will vary greatly depending on the person, but the one thing I recommend across the board is taking your measurements while flexed and not relaxed. Assures you'll be able to bend when wearing the pieces.
Haven’t seen anyone ask but I could have just missed it but I would be interested in seeing how you made that spray paint station as I am currently just spraying outside and it isn’t great for weather/heat control. Amazing video as well
Thank you! I'll put together a video about the spray booth soon. Its just posterboard, an hvac fan thing, and some dryer vent tubes.
only 200 subs? nah man you deserve more, awesome job, really enjoyed the step by step guide!
Mind sharing the resin, respirator and light you use? Thinking about diving into trying resin for layer lines after watching your video
I use Elegoo Grey UV resin but any color or brand would work the same. The light is this one (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B07XJZK4R6/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and the respirator is a 3M one from Home Depot I think.
Have a like and follow man, that's amazing, a lot of work and I am really not Shure if I want to try that haha, maybe when I Upgrade to my Bambulab X1C, on my printer RN I am not Shure to do it.... But keep up the good work, maybe some improvem8with filming the stuff you forgot but I feel like you are capable to do really informative content for the 3D printing community aswell as the beginner prop maker ❤
Yes please would very much like a spray paint enclosure tutorial l. Also what's the sheet stuff you're using again ? I'm making the Galactic armory Saviour of the Free helmet and I'm not wanting to pay £120 for a GA visor. Help me obi wan, you're my only hope 😂😂
I used these (www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0B23S9RXJ/ref=ppx_yo_dt_b_search_asin_title?ie=UTF8&psc=1) and car tint to make most of my visors. Its polycarbonate plastic in 4 mil thickness. Or you can use Hobart welding visors as well which are basically the same thing, more expensive, less work though.
@@JohnsPrintLab Thanks John, I'll have a look into that :)
I'm new to this but I have a message that pops up that says "Line width to small, (Jump to outter wall line width
Can you show how to make the homemade paint booth
yeah I can put together a short vid on that. Not too complicated.
Thank for this sub as well can anytime where a can find the file plz and just getting in to 3d printing
its available on the galactic armory website
Is the Ender 3 v3 SE print bed big enough or will I have to slice some of the parts?
you'd likely have to slice some parts up a bit more but if you do the Galactic Armory files they include some already pre-sliced for smaller print beds.
@@JohnsPrintLab thanks for the info!
I have now got the files and I have almost finished printing all the pieces. I printed the front piece fully, but I had to use the sliced options for the back and dome pieces. Can’t wait to start glueing it together!
I'd recommend a wash of burnt umber and raw sienna.
would definitely give it that real earthy weathering for sure!
Just remove “only one wall on top surface” so you dont get that atrocious top
Youve got a nice setup and are good at what you do. But the thumbnail needs work, i suggest putting what youve done on the title but hide some of it to give the watcher some mystery and interest other than that great video and great helmet
yeah thumbnails are not my strong suit lol. Thanks for the comment!
I really wish makers would stop telling people you can wet sand up to these insane grits like 2000 before painting. You have to leave something behind for the paint to bite into. There’s absolutely no benefit to sanding that high up and tons of drawbacks. Especially for dudes painting helmets with rattle cans. The paint doesn’t create a smooth enough surface even on glass for it to matter. You’re wasting your time and causing future adhesion issues.
I only talk about things I've done and had success with. I have only sanded that high a couple times and airbrushing is probably better for that smooth of a finish, but it was just fine with a rattle can.
Isn't that why we prime after sanding?
As a fellow diver, I can say that this is Super Earth approved! Btw, how quick does the UV light cure the resin? I've used primer filler in the past with lots of coats with sanding in between and it's a time consuming process.
UV resin cures in like 15-30 seconds with a light when painted on like this. Definitely the fastest method I have used and why I keep using it.
