These projects always stun me what people can recreationally do now with off the shelf equipment, we should be ina golden age for practical effects in movies yet everyone uses CGI.
💯
Those two go together like a fish and a motorbike.
@@KarriKoivusalooff the shelf equipment and practical effects?
Neither CGI nor practical effects are superior, both are good. CGI is not "easier" than practical effects, in the background you have a ton of overworked artists making the CGI work. The fault of CGI's bad rep comes down to bad management and or direction, imo.
CGI is more commonly used because changes can and WILL be done in post
I'm really hoping a company tries to make a electroplating kit for 3D prints to increase the accessability to the consumer market. Once it's readily available and easier to use, there's so much that can be done with it! From metal plating gundam frames to making truly metal feeling cosplay like this! Great videos.
It's tricky. A lot of the chemicals used in electroplating are toxic, quite expensive and there can be shipping restrictions. Additionally, companies with expertise use proprietary brightener formulas to get optimal results and they are very secretive about them. This means they can charge a lot. The stuff that Hen3Drik uses is from Tifoo which is a brand only available in the EU and is incredibly cheap and seemingly high quality compared to what we get in other countries. Here in Australia, there's a company called Caswell that sells a bunch of different Electroplating kits - one for Copper, one for Nickle, ones for Brass or Chrome etc. They're REALLY expensive.
You can also DIY solutions yourself at least up to a point - for Copper, you need Copper Sulfate crystals (which is a topical medicine used with horses and can be acquired really cheap from equestrian or rural supply stores) and Sulphuric Acid (often sold as a paving cleaner or pool acid, but very quite dangerous to ship). Likewise you can make Nickle baths using NIckel Sulfate and acid. The tricky components are the brighteners and additives to make a really clean finish, these are the proprietary chemicals. There are some online recipes to make your own brightener or sometimes the electroplating companies sell the brightener separately - so you can save cash by DIY'ing the bulk copper or nickel solution and just paying for the brighteners. There's heaps of info online about this, a lot of DIY videos and plenty of advice. But the process is tricky, there's often a lot of trial and error around getting good results and doing large pieces like Hen3drik does takes a lot of experience and expertise and a lot of expensive electroplating solutions!!
“Accessibility to the consumer market” is a recipe for disaster. This is some industrial-accident grade shit.
@@AwestrikeFearofGods eh, resin 3d printers were only realistically commercially available until the technology caught up. Hoping some innovation could do the same for this.

This is mind blowing. Seriously amazing! And that hair!!!
😅 that hair! Btw, are you at the RMRRF? You could witness it there 🥳
Hi there @UncleJessy - yeah! It blew my mind too! You know when I am going to do something electroplated? Never! Ha ha ha. But it looks awesome!
Hold my beer
This video was an homage 😉
Outstanding work, please don't rush videos trying to make more these clearly take a lot of time to be this good it's worth the wait.
I‘ll do! 🫡
Looks Gorgeous, I would not have said it looked easy. The amount of work put in to that is absolutely shown in the final product!
wow, super impressive results, and a tremendous amount of work. Thanks for posting!
Your specific talk about PPE makes me so happy. Safety is so important no matter what you do and I appreciate you taking a moment to emphasize it.
Thank you. I can see in analytics that viewers attention drops hard when I come up with this. Nevertheless I’ll keep saying it again and again. 😊
Stunning work! Thank you so very much for sharing your plating process with us. That helmet is a masterpiece!
stunning result - i've had the idea to do something similar since I first found your videos and started learning how to electroplate.
I've made this suggestion a few times, I don't mean to spam you, wont bug you again about it! But man, it would be amazing to see a Gold plated Adeptus Custodes, maybe even collaborate with a Warhammer TH-camr, Squidmar would be a good fit. You plate it, they paint it. It would be huge.
Hi, i never missed your post. I actually look it up once in a while considering whether to do it or not. Give me time😉
It does seem like it would be particularly difficult to execute, but I have faith in your skills! Thanks Hendrix!
I used what I learned from your electroplating videos to plate a few prints. My first projects were going for oxidized copper or bronze patina, so mistakes were "on purpose". I used scrap copper wire for the anode. I found more predictable results with bottled or distilled water.
Thanks so much!
Oh wow, launched today. Thanks! Nice tutorial👍🏻
Wow that end result is beautiful!
Wow that looks great, thanks for the walk through!
This looks absolutely insane. The whole process looks really involved but turned out amazing
Beautiful results! I'm always amazed at how stunning your electroplating projects turn out. You make it look so easy! Incredible work as always 🙌
I can tell you long stories of failure and mistakes ☺️.
Fantastic build and a criminally underrated channel! Nice to see yourself and AlexLab cross-promoting each other’s work.
Wow, that's awesome!!!
Fantastic tutorial! Saving my life with a project coming up.
Every project is a level up from the last. It’s such a joy watching you work. Keep up the amazing work!!!
Thank you, I’m thrilled what you’ll do with the magneto x!!
This looks incredible!!!
I commend you for working with those acids!
Immer wieder faszinierend, wie gut das aussieht !
Insanely cool process and the results are great!
this man is truly a man of talent well done my man!
Electroplating is really cool and your work is amazing!!
One for your best and most enjoyable videos sir! ❤
It would take such an incredible amount of work, but imagine printing and plating the entire suit. That would be crazy. You could win every Halloween costume contest everywhere. lol
Nice work.❤
Amazing results....as usual!! Alway fun to watch a master at work. Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks!
This is a masterpiece. Thank you so much for sharing this with us much appreaciated!
Thank you for your nice words
Incredible work. Amazing!
This is epic ! Doesn't look too difficult to do - thank you for sharing
This was amazing, I’m glad Alex Labs posted a link, I’m 100% subscribing
Beautiful work! Well done! 👍
I recently got into electroplating thanks to you. I've plated 5 copper rings so far and looking into moving into palladium and gold. I wasn't able to buy nickel so would have to stick with pen plating for palladium and gold
Another amazing creation, congratulations, all that hard work you are doing is creating some great results. Please keep posting, it’s always wonderful seeing your work.
Thanks
Awesome stuff once again. Congrats, man!
Thank you, Waldo!!
Downright gorgeous. Don't worry about trying to make content faster, I love seeing the results that you get from taking your time
That's such an impressive work
yo that was realy cool of you to call out other youtubers in your video. I have been asking frank to do this for ayear or so but you did a great job!! well do bro.
Beautiful well done 🔥🔥🔥
Beautiful work as always 👍😊
Amazing work! Can you elaborate on the selection of palladium vs. alternatives?
wow this is awesome man
Thank You for your video man like for supporting your channel!
Looks amazing! You can get flexible LED eyes so you don't need to hit them with the heat gun. Makes that bit a lot easier
This came out amazing!!!!
I found your channel week ago and wow, electroplating at hom is my new dream!
Utterly amazing 🤩
You should totally electroplating master chiefs spartan helmet! That would be so sweet.
So many work !! ❤
That helmet looks amazing! :O
Wow, what an amazing job! Thanks for showing the process of doing this, and I don't think I even start to understand how long this would take. I think I will likely stick to metallic looking paint myself :D
Kudos, though! I can tell you put a TON of work into not only your manufacturing, but also your videos.
Thank you for these nice words
Great video!! I really want to try it out, thanks for sharing!!
Amazing brother! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻
Iron Man helmet is beautiful. Great job.
Wow, just wow! I might start electroplating my prototypes as well... Cheers, mate!
This project turned out very good 👍
It sucks that you don’t show the products that are needed in the process
probably thinks they need to pay him if they want advertising 🙄
Fantastic work!
Thank you!
Brilliant! Wow!
Just Wow!! Amazing!!
Sehr schön und informativ, danke!
YAY...Now do the whole suit!!! 🤣 Great video as always ✌
As always. Geiles Projekt. Super Arbeit!
Danke ✌
Very satisfying. Nice voice, too! :)
wow this is amazing.
Got here from Alex Lab, thanks for the great video.
Amazing. I've learned so much from your channel. I'm getting super results of my own. Thank you.
That was the plan! 😃
wow this is so awesome i wanna see a full titanium with gold plating to combat the icing problem :)
Incredible work! Amazing you can do this with equipment that anyone can buy.
Damn dude here are no words for how beautiful this is wauw❤
Incredible work - you can tell that was a labour of love - it must have taken AGES to complete. That end result is jist superb though - like STRAIGHT out of the movie. Incredible work, will def share this with my friends
Thank you very much!
You should use a guide coat between each sanding grit. It makes it much easier to see where you haven't sanded or what needs to be sanded more.
Impressive work!
You never cease to amaze me. Great work as always!
Thank you! 😃
I've known what electroplating was but never knew the materials and process. It's fantastic.
Amazing Work beautful thanks
Wow this was amazing. I wanna try this! Even though you said it's harder than it looks, you broke it down so well it feels way more approachable than when I looked into it before
Thanks!
Looks amazing. Fantastic job.
Thank you!😊
So cool!
FranklyBuilt taught me 3D printing. its so cool to see him getting recognized and called out in other channels. awesome video. Do you have a recommendation for doing electroplating and getting a black color?
I've never seen a diy electroplating project!
The finished piece looks beautiful! And I'm sure I don't need to say it, but this is actually what they did for the Lightsaber hilt props in the Star Wars Prequels, unlike the Original Trilogy hilts that were made from real world parts, the prequel trilogy props were either machined from metal or made from resin and chromeplated. Whilst not exactly electroplating, I imagine it was a somewhat similar process.
Pretty cool
AWESOME
Absolutely crazy!!! 🎉 This is outstanding and I can't comprehend how much time you have spent on that 💪
Thank you for your kind words, Werner!
That's one museum worthy prop!
Awesome!
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥 Amazing!
Wow!!!
Another great video, thanks for inspiring us hendrik ! And good of you to remind people to use PPE !!! Way too many content creators skip over that crucial step.
I am still trying to summon the courage to do a gundam kit electroplating :)
As for your next projects, maybe something Cyberpunk related ? Loads of chrome and gold in those mods !!
There is always a dip in the stats when the PPE scences are shown. Thanks!
Vraiment cool comme boulot ! J'aime !
*This is amazing(*
No mortal human can have the amount of patience and diligence to sand something like this as smooth as you did.
😅 Do I see you at RMRRF?
@@hen3drik Sadly no, it's just too far for me - and I already have a US trip planned in summer for Flite Fest.
Nice. A very cool project. I will try it creating custom logo for my car.
Yeah, that would be cool!
Don't rush content. Your videos are amazing, no need to rush them. It might ruin the quality.
Take care!
