      I like Ja'Kobe's fit in Toronto quite a bit. Him, Gradey, and IQ next to Scottie is exciting imo, even if maybe there were some prospects with more upside still available.

    I like his potential. Didn't think much of his 34% 3pt percentage, until I started watching highlights & saw the difficulty and range of some of those attempts.
    Seems like he needs to work on his vision and reeds. Saw at least a few plays where he had easy kickouts, a dump off & lob you'd like him to make. Works on this develops a step back & other moves based off such a shot.
    Proves he can slide better defensively & the above. I agree he has top 5 draft return potential.

    • @FloorandCeiling

      I like the fit too and I also like Dalton Knecht for the Hornets. Generally speaking, they should prioritize who the best prospect overall is imo. The Hornets look to be starting almost anew after their ownership change, although with LaMelo and Brandon Miller as their centerpieces.

    He's not bad. I think his strength is his ability to pass screens to find good three-point shooting positions. He certainly plays off the ball very well in order to create scoring opportunities.
    He has some weaknesses: on defense he has a good attitude, but he makes important mistakes and his pick'n'roll game is poor.
    He can become a catch-and-shoot 3s specialist.
    He will be in lottery positions.

    • @FloorandCeiling

      Right now, Ja'Kobe is between #9-15 on my big board.
      He profiles very well off the ball, especially because of his shooting (I don't worry about the small slump that he is on), but there are other prospects with higher ceilings than him and there are valid concerns about his defense and whether his on-ball scoring develops.
      I think he'd be a nice fit on a team like Portland, Charlotte, Houston or Atlanta, since they already have solid/good ballhandlers and bigs to make Walter's role easier. Memphis too theoretically, but they usually prefer prospects who have shown more decision making with the ball in their hands (maybe someone like Matas Buzelis).

    • @licenciadobrubaker

      @@FloorandCeiling One of its problems is that it needs good screens to get free and be able to shoot. That's why he's performing very well at Baylor, because he takes advantage of Missi's screens.

  • @fivetool

    Any chance he falls a bit because he has not shown the ability to consistently create his own shot? Think AJ Griffen from the 2022 draft.

    • @FloorandCeiling

      I think Ja’Kobe’s range is 12-20 or so.

  • @MasterOfRage

    If He Somehow Falls Down Somewhere In The 1st RD, I’d Love To See Miami Heat Draft This Kid, Because We Need Another 3 Point Shooter And A Tyler Herro Replacement

    • @FloorandCeiling

      With Miami projected to draft at #16, the guys I like in that range for them include: Dalton Knecht, Devin Carter, Johnny Furphy, Ajay Mitchell, and then a darkhorse like Kyshawn George or Bronny James.
      I'm looking at a big guard who can either really score (Knecht, Ajay Mitchell, maybe Furphy) or has positional two-way outlook (Carter especially, Bronny James, Kyshawn George). Ja'Kobe would be a solid choice, though.

  • @justinbires6283

    As you were talking he has alot of Devin Vassell like qualities. 6’5 but his wingspan allows to play much bigger than his billed height. While also not having blow by speed. If yall recall the first 2 years Devin was a 3&D guy and that 3rd season added the self creation element. DV might have been a little more advanced on the defensive end but I can see a team drafting 10-15 using that roadmap on Walters development

    • @FloorandCeiling

      I agree with your range for Walter's draft stock and I'd see him fitting on the Blazers, Pelicans, or Heat.
      He reminds me a bit more of Moses Moody though, because I thought Vassell was more limited on offense than Walter at this stage of his development. Like you're saying, Vassell was also more advanced down the other end than Walter, but I get what you mean in general.

    Great breakdown of Ja’Kobe’s game right now. But I see him as one of the highest ceilings in this upcoming draft. When we look into the future I believe he’s a perennial quality starter in the league. He only went all in on basketball in high school and was a football prospect before that. His frame is set to add muscle and he has the right mindset on the defensive end.
    I’m hoping the Hornets take him at 6 in this upcoming draft

    • @FloorandCeiling

      Thanks for watching! I think he can return lottery value. I just expected more defensively and in terms of self creation. I agree that his approach is the right one.

  • @Veggamattic

    • @Veggamattic

      @@FloorandCeiling I don't see much other than a shooter and even that I don't see as elite. He might have consistency issues as a pro. It's also rare for a star NBA shooting guard not to be a true alpha in college and he wasn't. I think he'll need the right situation to thrive and if he doesn't get it he might not last long in the league. He defense is meh. Other guys have more upside. He has a good frame and he's long so I think his upside depends on his smarts.

    • @FloorandCeiling

      That mold of player makes sense, though I think Ja’Kobe probably has more self creation upside even if it wasn’t on display that much at Baylor. Thanks for watching!
