The Anthem, for me, seems like almost the perfect vehicle... I currently ride an Aventon Level.2 that I am hooked on beyond belief. I had an ebike before this, but this one really turned me on to biking as a whole. I love it, the power, the speed, the fact it gets me exercise, how easy it is to avoid traffic, the mental clarity it gives me, the money it saves me. The list is truly insane. This "hobby" turned into my lifestyle, but I still consider myself mostly a commuter, but when I go to long without biking I literally CRAVE it. In Arizona there is a good maybe 4 months out of the year you simply cannot bike because it is far far too hot (this comment was made on July 5th 2024 and the temperature most of the day today was 116º F, almost 47º C for example.
The ebike got me into motorcycles as a consideration... however I still do not have a motorcycle license. I am looking to change that this fall / winter by taking specific classes that allow you to go to the MVD and give you a class M license.... BUT my love of electric simply will not die. I don't like loud vehicles, I hate them actually, so when I started looking at electric motorcycles the two issues that came up of course was price and range, with price being the VAST issue for me. The cheapest ones I am finding as of right now is like $15,999 for an S2 Del Mar or something around there.
Then I found Ryvid and it is, on paper, almost the perfect vehicle for me. I live alone by choice, have no partner by choice, no kids, no pets, none of that interests me. I also don't travel. I simply work and enjoy my alone time. I'm a staunch minimalist so when I saw the price, power, speed, portability of the battery, design, colours, I loved this thing straight away. Many were probably hugely turned off by its limited range, but again Ryvid isn't advertising it as such, it's literally an urban commuter which is exactly what I want.
I am deeply considering selling my actual car (a 2009 Hybrid Civic) in order to help pay for this brand new... The only real thing I'm concerned about is storage. Ryvid DOES have a rear rack, but I don't know what can actually fit on it or how I could do basic grocery shopping, which for me isn't much since I live alone, but I really want to make this a thing for me.
Not to mention both my apartment complex AND my job offer free level 2 charging with a plethora of spots. These are huge wins for me and I feel the universe is basically saying, "dude, just go for it."
I test rode the Ryvid at the New York EV show. It was a blast.
Gotta love the motor-mower catcher holding the battery
Love it! 🇺🇸
You ALWAYS ride the COOLEST bikes🚲😎😍 Thanks for sharing this with us !🙏👍😊🎊
More to come from that day. 😉
Still bummed I missed meeting you at MA. Your videos have been a main source for my learning about e-mobility.
Very nice! awaiting delivery on mine
The earliest Japanese motorcycles were pressed steel frames instead of tubing. Something old is new again.
and the engines hung off the front.
Kudos to you for putting the price in your title!
While I have a few ebikes, I also have two motorcycles. So, I appreciate the report.
Very nice
The motor sounds a rocket.
Seat adjustment is sweet
Yes was an awesome feature and needed for more motorcycles.
That's a good if not grear price for whats offered. The frame sounds like Unibody versus Ladder on Frame. Its weight is almost the same of my old 550cc Suzuki. Which was very stable and handled well, not great but good. This might be better. The only drawback is I'd have to haul it to where I really want to ride, but it would be fir specific usage.
Great job guys i tweeted it off
I want one
Thats hilarious it has stock Surron footpegs lol. That emoto is sweet though!
Ryvid is definitely the category leader.
Insurance on EV Motorcycles are off the charts, it is almost double that of any ICE 1000 cc motorcycle, its nuts, you be broke in no time :D
Why?
For an e-bike I feel like there's so much room to have cool LED accent lighting and different shapes for the body. The price here is kind of crazy - in line with bikes a tenth of the price. Besides the adjustable seat, I don't see much appeal. And as someone who lives in an apartment electric electric bikes are very difficult to charge. Here in Taiwan we have a system where you can pull out the batteries and swap them at a charging station. But it's not a standard for any bike to use. Until we see that I don't think an electric bike can be co me convenient. Or until they have futuristic solid state batteries with 10 minute charging
Should the front bounce that much?
I have had the Metacycle for about 4 months now and I see that it is very comparable to the Ryvid Anthem but I would like to know if the suspension is an improvement over the Metacycle? The Metacycle has a stiff suspension that you feel in your back going over bumps and for that reason I'm looking at other options. Also would I be losing a lot in top speed on the Anthem? The Metacycle tops out at 85 to 90 mph when I take it on the interstate in sport mode.
Only problem I see is distance before charging. They need to work on getting that in the 100 mile range.
You will have to go 1 mph :D To sustain high speed ( 70 - 80 mph ) and get to 100 miles, that E motorcycle will be as big as a car and weight 3000 lbs :D splice about 10 of them 72watt together with a motorcycle trailer :D in the end you can't break the law of Physics
Thoughts about the Ryvid versus the Solar Eclipse 2 versus the Land Moto? The Solar Eclipse is the least inexpensive of the 3. Would it be the best option for no highway driving with typical travel on roads with a speed limit of about 45mph, so likely requiring speeds of 50-55mph at times?
I have a 2019 denzel samurai (same frame as the solar eclipse). Honestly it would feel like a "toy" after riding either the land moto or ryvid. It's cool, but they are very different. If you want speed while also being light enough to pickup by yourself, there's a case for the solar eclipse. Best road machine with overall smooth power and build quality might be the ryvid. Land beats both offroad with ease. Land is also insanely quick off the line compared to either and I would argue is the most "fun" to ride.
@@Area13ebikes Thanks for the great summary. I've been seriously contemplating the Solar Eclipse because of the cost and since it's lightweight. You make a real case for the Land here, especially since the Ryvid is more expensive.
Yes , go and buy few years old Zero .
Hi Kyle, you mentioned being familiar with as well as enjoying motorcycles. Can you give an approximate equivalent to a gasoline powered cycle, such as 90cc, 125cc, 150cc, 200cc, 250cc, single cylinder ? Is there a weight limit posted for this Ryvid Anthem ?
using surrons as an example, and mopeds, 4kw is roughly equivalent to 125cc/ 3 to 5 hp. comparing them is tricky because some gas engines have different compression etc that increase their hp output for the same cc rating. 1hp is roughly equivalent to 750 watts.
The battery is 4kwh. Power is 14kw/20hp.
Probably similar to some 250cc bikes 0-30mph. But a gas bike will overtake it on the upper end of the speed range.
My last gas bike was a 2019 CB650R with a 0-60 of about 3.5s. (1st gear up to 60mph) if you want to feel the acceleration push you back in the saddle the Ryvid probably isn't the bike. If you don't want to get it trouble with speed... maybe it is!
Hey Kyle.... don't sweat the small stuff and don't pet the sweaty stuff... That E Cycle Looked Hot! It's called E-Volution...
Looks real sharp. Definitely made improvements it looked good when they started building these but it looks really good now. However that is a tiny battery you're not going to get any range out of that. Maybe realistically 35 MI
They have the specs listed on their website, at a constant of 70mph you should get a range of exactly that, 35miles. But on combined speeds you should get a range as far as 57 miles
@@cloud9dreams854 I've already owned an electric motorcycle that's why I was able to call out what the range was going to be before heard at end. At least they are being a lot more realistic with expected range. However do not believe manufacturer claims ever. It would be under perfect conditions what you're never going to get. Too many variables effect. Everyone rides different, shaped different, climate different. And even at 56 miles that's not enough.
What do you think compared to a Sondors metacycle ?
It's kind of dead in the water... but the meta was good for the price while it lasted. Ryvid advantages are higher sustained speed, removable battery, adjustable seat, mid drive motor setup, and made in US.
@@Area13ebikes I see your point but nobody hasn’t compared them in videos or put them both in the same test ride to see the difference I honestly don’t think it’s a big difference they both have the same battery , I get the sustained part but for how long ? I heard 55mph gets you 46 miles . Kinda the same for a metacycle . You see everybody says it’s better but no comparison videos found because I think it’s bs no offense. If Sondors actually supported the metacycle it could had been an awesome bike with updates to come but that’s not gonna happen so it’s unfair to say ryvid can be modified and etc when you can’t modify a metacycle because there isn’t any support for the bike . I think what the ryvid and Sondors offer now without any modifications they are both the same bike .
@@saynomore5730 sondors is out of business.
The real question is how much does the battery cost? How much cost to replace and install? And if the battery costs more than the bike what happens when the insurance company totals your battery when it goes bad!?!?
Idk what the spares will cost yet. 4kwh won't be that expensive, not enough to total the bike. It's also certainly rebuildable.
A sales Agent at Ryvid told me that battery replacement cost is $3000.
Will Area 13 ever add electric motorcycles and accessories to its product catalog?
That's a good possibility. We do have the eahora M1PS.
If they made one with a built-in charging blanket or something like that with umbrella-type tilt/pivot sun-tracking frame (even if it took 3 days of full sun), that’d be a kickstarter ;)
You can diy that for sure. I've done it for ebikes. My recumbent trike has it built in with roughly the same size battery.
Is the seat height adjustable?
Yes, on the fly with a button!
Does it go high enough for taller people?
Found my answer 4” from 30” to 34” not for sale anywhere outside the US unfortunately…
I didn’t see a headlight? It’s the law in Illinois. Also do you need a motorcycle license and license plates… didn’t see a headlight or license plate on your ride. I’m saving up for this 😉😉
There's a full size headlight in the front with high and low beam. Yes requires both motorcycle license and plates. (Demo bikes weren't plated yet)
@@Area13ebikes In Illinois they base your your class L motorcycle license on a 150cc or less, and a class M if your cycle is over 150cc...i wonder how they determine the Cubic Centimeters on a electric bike. anyways it was a great video! i wonder who would work on it if it needed service
interesting -
Just not enough range per going 55-60 mph
Depends on how far you need to go. It also has level 2 charging capability.
They could knock a grand off the price building in texas most likely
Who wants to live in Texas?
*Brake rotor at **12:59** looks terribly grooved lol no way a new bike does that, very odd to see them use that especially marketing new bike*
My guess is their demo bikes get beat up and abused a bit!
theyre going to be too fast. be safe
The styling looks very much like my motorcycle, Husqvarna Vitpilen 401. The weight, 313 lbs, or lack of is amazing. Every motorcycle should have adjustable seat height like that. The range is pretty darn good too, if it's what they say it is. While I am a fan of ebikes, would I choose this over my Vitpilen? I gotta' say, I don't think so. The cost of gas for the Vitpilen isn't an issue and it's likely that it is simply a better motorcycle. The Vitpilen cost $5399 in 2022.
Why would you even want to.
The motorized adjustable seat seems like a rental feature. I think you'd still need an M class license to ride it. It's an interesting product. I'd still rather have any gas powered bike instead. If you can't do a motorcycle "club ride" it's not really a legit product. You'd be hitting the range limit with almost any recreational rides.
So why read reviews of E bikes then?
So it's an @ $10K toy for short distance thrills??? I suppose there is a niche market for it? I think there are better ways to spend $10K. Let us know when it can do at least 100 miles on a charge.
There are plenty of bikes that can do 100 miles or much more on a charge.
actually its probably a 50 grand bike, if you own it for a few years :D The insurance on E motorcycles are twice that of a 1000 cc sports bike :D insurance is off the Charts on this thing, you be broke in no time . Cost of ownership is what kills you, the initial price, its a bargain :D
It's still an eBike! Bicycle or Motorcycle, it's still an eBike! I'm not crazy about "tank huggers" but, this seems to be different. Especially with the adjustable seat. I might could actually get into riding one, it takes what I absolutely hate about those kinds of "sport" bikes, and crushes it. When I get a chance to, I'm going to check them out. Can't wait to see the Dyno tests! Glad to see you out and about more these days, have a Blessed Christmas, Kyle!
It was a very nice seating position. More of a "standard" style motorcycle. Not a sport bike.
Such a small battery for the price. My RX1E has 6KWh for less.
Hope I can test one of those in the future. 😀
@@Area13ebikes I just got mine a week ago. It's pretty awesome!
Why is it disguised as a petrol bike?
Why do you think it is? Battery doesn't look like an engine. No fake exhaust. No fuel tank.
Terrible video quality, love to see better pics and videos.
Massive supply demand imbalance with electric cars in 2024, way too much supply and most people do not want them. E motorcycles only appeal to existing motorcyclists and the gas powered ones are vastly superior for most people. Every one of these E motorcycle companies will struggle mightily, just like Sonders because of limited market size and the poor range of current e motorcycles.
I never would have ever considered buying a gas bike. Electric is what got me into E-bikes/motorcycles. Gas dirt bike maybe, but not a road bike. Living in town or near one can make EV's a no brainer for some. Like couples who otherwise only need a second vehicle because they work at the same time. They only need a two passenger vehicle when they are together. A cheap short range motorcycle might be cheaper than a second car and maybe more fun. Just my personal take on the issue.
yadda yadda
At 75 mph it goes 35 miles. I could ride it anywhere without running out of charge! Completely useless!
Couldn't* ?
it's definitely made for folks who live in more urban areas
Let me buy off of u
I'm willing to give electric motorcycles a chance but not until they match the performance of combustion bikes for the same price. Right now a Grom or a Z125 makes more sense.
Most def not riding a motorcycle that far tho so hey
The range sucks on this pos.
that's not a motorcycle, its a glorified electric bicycle. real motorcycles run on gasoline.
2 wheels, motor, highway speeds... seems like a motorcycle to me.
@@Area13ebikes maybe to you, yes it may be... but I will never acknowledge glorified electric bikes as motorcycles. If it doesn't have a gas powered engine, it's not a real motorcycle...
@@vulcandawg7623 my last bike was a 2019 CB650R. Bought it solely for the inline 4 sound... so I know where you're coming from.
Try telling that to a cop and see what happens. 🤣
To me it's nice. I will welcome it into the motorcycle world. And classify it as a motorcycle.
But yes real motorcycles and real motorized vehicles. Run on gasoline.
I think this is one ugly bike!
To me the suspension look weld lol
Perfect for the new generation no gear, no effert,no noise,no oil to change lol perfect snowflake bike lol I will keep my street glide
A guy oin a street glide shouldn't really be criticizing any other motorcycle. LOL
