      Did all the basic stuff and had my EMMO Zone GTS inspected at the Akron DMV but the title office refused to let me register it as a moped with just the serial number even though it can be classified as one. They want to register it as a motorcycle period meaning.i have to pay to get a state trooper inspection as well as a truck to take it all the way to Cleveland since there're only 2 actual inspection places in the whole state. All this because the EMMO models don't come with an MCO or a VIN number.

      Last time I was at the DMV, I had a long wait. I was in there for almost 20 minutes. In Tennessee, we get out driver's license at the DMV. We get our tags at the courthouse, and we're in and out of there in 10 minutes on a busy day. At most, they send a deputy out to look at the bike and make sure all the lights work. California is f'n stupid. If it was a person, it would be diagnosed with a mental disorder. I'm forever an optimist though. I tend to think that Californians are really bored and that they keep voting for idiots just to make life more challenging.

    I've had this exact bike now for over 3 months and I go 45-50 MPH all day long, maxing out at 55MPH. It's very stable up to 50MPH it's my opinion that this bike was not designed to go over 55 it starts to get a little squirrely at 55 so modifying this bike to go faster would include addressing this issue. I also go up hills at 40 MPH plus no problem. It is a lot of fun to ride and definitely a head-turner I live in Oregon and was able to fully register it as a motorcycle after I paid a $25.00 luxury tax to the IRS. ( I kid you not ). As far as the bike going into park when at a stop sign or light this is a safety feature that makes sure you don't let off the brake when stopped in traffic. Once you understand that it isn't an issue.

    My son registered the first Fiat 500e in Ohio. They told him he had to take it to get an emissions test. He said “but it’s electric”. They still wouldn’t let him register it. He contacted the State DMV and asked for an exemption, which they gave him. A year later he got his registration renewal letter and it said “emissions test required”…..

    • @Ray.Marx.67
      @Ray.Marx.67 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Any drivers license course you can take every year, is a plus on your license and a discount on your insurance!!! Driver safety classes, DUI classes etc, even if you're not convicted of anything, especially then, you'll get pluses added to your license and that means cheaper insurance. You can get so many added per year and the most I believe is 3 extra points, so if you've been driving 15 years, multiply that by 3, that's 45 points to the good!!! You should be getting paid to have insurance with that many points!!!
      3 points total is 1 point for each year nothing on record, (no tickets, accidents, etc.,) and 2 points for the safety class.
      If you have a clean record each year, you get 1 point regardless of if you go to the classes or not. Normally, the example above, no tickets or anything you'd only have 15 points on your record. 1 accident is like 3+ points and so is a speeding ticket! You get a deficit and you're license is void until you get the points up or retest or get lucky and the judge resets it for you.

    This thing is so close to being perfect for me. It’s a 22 mile total commute to work on 45mph roads. I just can’t do the chopper styling. I’m a big dude I think I would look ridiculous and the guys at work would roast me. A road legal bike with at least 30 mile range and 50ish mph top speed for this price point that was styled more like a rx1e and I would be all in. Maybe the talaria dragon I’ve heard about will come road legal.

    • @Area13ebikes
      @Area13ebikes  ปีที่แล้ว +7

      I don't think it will go any faster on the top end. It's limited by the motor and voltage, not an electrical limit. If field weakening was programmed in we might squeeze a few more mph out of it. Bumping the current up might get more torque and acceleration, but won't likely change the top speed either.

    • @JJ_ExMachina
      @JJ_ExMachina ปีที่แล้ว

      Most places have engine size, HP, and or "watts" output specifications that each category of two wheeled vehicles must adhere to. For example in the USA 750 watts or less (in most places) allows it to be classified as a bicycle (In places like Germany you are limited to pedal assist only, no throttles and once 20kph / 12.4mph is achieved the electric assistance must shut off). Typically up to 3000 watts (and limited to 30 mph) will fall under the "moped" / scooter range. Motorcycles are anything above that, to include the one in this video. Places like Florida do NOT require a driver's license for electric scooters/mopeds, but require them to be registered (about $3 a year). While other places require valid driver's licenses to use them, others require motorcycle licenses. It's a mess of laws and nothing is up to date.

      Battery will likely need to be replaced. Looks like these can be ordered online from eAhora. I've also come across third party batteries online for a third to half the price of what eAhora charges. I'm not sure if the physical sizes would match though
      A replacement motor can be found online for around $1,000 - $2,000, depending if you want to get a stronger one or not. However, these are third party motors. Not sure if eAhora offers their own replacement motors.
      Doesn't look like the motor would be too hard to replace, or take too long to pay someone else to replace it... probably take less than an hr to do so. It consists of taking off and putting back on the brakes & wheel, with the addition of connecting the power cord.

You could add sound LOL... it might take a little doing but I bet its do able... I wouldn't be surprised if the sensor could be adjusted for the dropping into park. There is the "Letter of the Law, and then there is the Spirit of the Law." One is banality with stiff neck mandatory no room for leeway as if it might say "It Shall Be." In contractual parlance that is a mandatory, as in it shall meet or exceed. The other is the Spirit of the intent a maybe or maybe not interpretive situation allowing general acceptance even if it isn't specific, but falls within the boundary of by the use of Common Sense. It address the spirit of the overall intent, but may disregard the Letter. And Underlings in these institutions fall under several categories... They will ware blinders and stick to the Letter and ware it like a cloak of protection because they can't reason for themselves and live in fear of retribution. Then we have the Critical thinkers who recognize the situation for what it is and address it head on, fearless of possible retribution. They feel power in their decision as well as possibly saving tax payers dollars in avoiding needless legislation, new forms printed, and just possibly saving a small forest in their acceptance. Mark Twain said, common sense is not so common.

      You can’t just throw a 150a bms on a battery and say it can put out 150a. Cluelessly doing that is no better then just bypassing the bms output. You limit your battery at 150a when the cells can only sustain 80a. There’s a reason they put the bms they did in it. Interesting that you are having registrations issues over the emissions sticker. Couple ideas
    1 Can you go to a mechanic who does emissions testing and have them test it. I hope the mechanic does laugh you out of there. heck with the local DMV on this.
    2 Call a neighboring state and see if you can register it there.

    Interestingly enough, my state considers anything with two or 3 wheels and an electric motor of more than 750 watts to be a moped. There is no speed limit or power limit or pedal requirement. Now in reality the DMV has their own idea of what a moped is which they say is how the manufacturer classifies it which is ridiculous.

    Wow the spec on that bike 4000watt motor and 28kw battery and only hitting 50mph. I have a talaria sting MX4 Stock I believe 8000watt motor with a 8kw battery on a 60v system I'm getting 58 max speed. I can get about 20 miles going that fast. Now I've upgraded to at 72v system 30kw battery on the same 8000 watt motor and I only topped out just to see what it would do and I reached 87mph. You want to go faster change your rear sprocket to a smaller sprocket

    • @Area13ebikes
      @Area13ebikes  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You're misunderstanding batteries and the types of motors these have. The talaria had twice the power. Batteries are measured in kwh which is a measurement of capacity, not wattage. This battery is 2.8kwh. Also it's a hub motor, there's no gearing to change.

    Sure sounds like you are picking up a helluva wobble, your voice is like you are leaning on a washing machine on spin cycle which means more than likely the drive tire isnt balanced, as i have seen people raise the rear to show unrestricted speed, and the whole bike wobbles and shakes from the drive wheel spinning. Can you confirm that this is the case? that you are picking up a fair amount of unbalanced wheel wobble and if so did you find someone local who could balance those small tires? usually a power sports or golf cart place might be able to? (i see from the video the road wasnt glass smooth but your voice was really showing some "washing machine on spin cycle" sounds.
    Have you done the unlock using the pwr off - full throttle, hold breaks for 9 seconds, let go, power on, to get more speed ?
