I feel for you guy but you’re so wrong about everything. I’m a dealer, and dealers almost NEVER offer an in house warranty on any used cars. Dealers often sell 3rd part warranties. You bought a used car “as-is” and are upset that it broke? I’m confused. How were you scammed? You literally said in the video you knew Hyundai / Kia blow motors like crazy, yet you bought one anyway. Your next mistake was trading it in on a junk Nissan Versa. Your biggest mistake was making a video claiming he scammed you. You have no evidence you were scammed. I’d have had my lawyer serve you by the next day with a lawsuit pending. We’d be filing a defamation case at a minimum. You feel he owes you because you declined a warranty and bought a car with no PPI? $5500 is OK for him to spend because he can afford it? Listen here man $5500 is $5500 to anybody! You screwed yourself.
This is damaging to the channel alleging the buyer got "scammed" ... When in fact they bought a $5200 car without any warranty, and when it broke, that is what happens... To the author: if you have any respect you would change this title and name it "Why you should not buy a cheap used car without any warranty" ... That would be more accurate title, not this alleged "scam m" ...

To be honest you should have put a head gasket in the Toyota Corolla and been back in business for 100,000 more miles. It's more of a car than a Hyundai will ever be. And the Altima with its CVT would have also been a bad choice.

I definitely understand how you feel. With that being said, I’m a dealer and have been one since 2015. I sell most of my vehicles as is. We have buyers guides that we have to put on every vehicle. These show what to look for and inspect on used vehicles. It also states you can have the vehicle inspected. I always tell my buyers if it doesn’t feel right don’t buy it. I use this as well when I buy my inventory. The biggest thing on buying vehicles is doing your due diligence.
@@BlankBillions So you want the dealer to tear the engine apart to find scoring inside the cylinder walls? Maybe drive every car 200 miles before putting them on the lot? I bet you also complain how expensive used cars are.
@@chrischaffey1252 I think everyone complains about the used car market. Even though prices are coming down the second hand market is still absolutely ridiculous right now. If you don’t think so then you’re not the average American, if so good for you.
@@BlankBillions no I agree that the used car market is expensive. What I'm getting at is if dealers do a bore scope on the engine, and drive it 200 miles, the cost of that used car is going to go up as well. So that 5500 dollar car is going to be 7500. The dealer can't do those things without making the car even more expensive. So, in an as is situation, the buyer is going to have to take the risk or do the bore scope themselves.
You didn’t get scammed, you failed to do your due diligence. You bought a used car as is from a used car dealer and you didn’t get a PPI or even bring your scan tool and scan it before you bought it. Hey, I get your opinion. It's yours. But doing the right thing, if you're an upstanding business, should be at the forefront. Red flags he claims: 1. they told him they had a lot of interest in the car (lol) 2. Somebody came with him on the test drive (lol). 3. They told him there was no warranty. Unreal. I have dealt with sketchy dealers… nothing they did was sketchy. You are despicable. Now unjustly smearing another business….
Here's a short but long explanation of how I take your video and it's just advice so take it for what it's worth. This was painful to watch, I feel sorry for you and I also feel sorry for the dealer. I'm a dealer in North Carolina and legally Flying Wheels can't repair the car if the laws are the same there as they are here. Any vehicle sold "as is" has to be in fact sold "as is", if they offered to fix the car and did so then that is an "implied warranty" which in NC means Flying Wheels would have to warranty the car for as long as you owned it, no way out of it. Now as far as trading you back out of it that is totally up to the dealer, I'm sure they could work something out with you if you said that's 100% what you want to do. I'm just curious how much time passed before you let them know it had an issue? If you let them know as soon as you got home that the check engine light came on before it made it home from the dealer then I feel like things would have been different for you. I know from experience that a customer will lie to a dealer way more than a dealer lies to customers. Buyers are liars, It's a sad but true fact. I'm definitely not saying you're lying but you have to look at it from the perspective of the dealer as to getting a phone call days or weeks later stating the car had an issue that started on the drive home from the dealership and I'm just now contacting you, sounds a little unbelievable. Again I feel like you're telling the truth about the car and situation but anything could have happened in the amount of time you bought the car and when you finally contacted the dealer, that's why it would have been critical for you to let them know as soon as it happened. It's a no win situation for the dealer either way and you should have requested to drive the car further than a mile or so at 35mph, go on a second test drive with the detail guy and put it through it's paces. Another thing is they offered you an extended warranty which you had the opportunity to buy but declined to do so because you had a predetermined mindset that the warranty is no good. If a dealer is "throwing in a warranty" or "including a warranty" on any used vehicle it has to be listed on the bill of sale because if not that's going back to an "implied warranty" and they never expire once the dealer repairs the vehicle. Definitely do not trust a dealer that says they are giving you a warranty and it's not listed anywhere in the paperwork. I'm sorry this happened and I watch Flying Wheels too and I do feel like Craig is an honest, understanding person but his hands are tied when it comes to repairing the vehicle. I'd try asking really nicely how you could trade out of it and get into a different, more reliable vehicle for your son. Not to pour salt on your wound but 5 minutes worth of research on Google would have made you run from certain Hyundai's and Kia's, a lot of them are ticking time bombs. It's just a bad situation all around, I'm sorry.
Hey, thanks for the comment. I’m his son, the one the car was bought for. It is a shit situation, but it turned around fairly quick. Ended up going with a 2024 Nissan Versa S Plus, warranty and everything. Was able to get about a grand or so trade in from the Veloster which is better than nothing. Definitely a learning experience.

You purchased a nearly 10 year old automobile “as-is,” what more needs to be said? Nobody forced or tricked you into the car, nor did they force you to forego a PPI or scanning it yourself. You should also bear in mind the cost of the automobile and how no reasonable business would offer any warranty on any car of this vintage. Do you think you would have paid $5200 if it did have one? You also failed to mention the mileage in your video, please excuse me if you did and missed it. How many miles has this Hyundai accrued in its 9+ years? I won’t ask why not simply use $5200 as a down payment and make small monthly payments in exchange for the peace of mind in knowing that you’re covered because I do not know your financial situation. However, no reasonable person can expect any type of warranty under these circumstances and you were assured upfront that you are “on your own.” You agreed. In fact, even if the dealer did reimburse you for a brand new engine, it could open the door to future claims since they are agreeing to the warranty claim in the first place. What if they replaced the engine and next week your (fragile) dual clutch gearbox decides to fail? When would their liability end? When you say so! You gambled/lost, as you did when you decided to forego the temp tag/inspection and just “slap a plate on.” Interesting to note, you would’ve probably had more leverage when they went to inspect it and fail at their facility. They honored their word in selling you a product for a price that you agreed to when signing an “as-is” bill of sale. Call it a learning experience but this is how life is in the real world and you should not try to manipulate others to do as you wish by leveraging your hardships. None of this should be new information to you.
I was a dealer for 20 years. As is or not. You sell a car and the motor goes within a few days. You have a choice. Put a motor in it. Buy it back for the $5200. The Brady Bunch taught me, when I was only 10 years old, "Caveat Emptor" or let the buyer beware. This is on you. Legally, they did nothing wrong, and sometimes crap just breaks. You buy a car at the auction that gets driven in and out at speeds less than 20. It is then driven at low speed to load it on a trailer, then parked on a lot and checked. Then you bought it. How would they know? It is more likely the last owner knew and ditched a problem. It is even possible the selling dealer at the auction knew or the wholesaler. Either way this is why you check things out and avoid problematic cars.

And Hyundai are NOT known for being well built. AKA engines grenading, cars catching on fire, ect. The uploader knew this but still bought one anyway, yikes!! And FYI some used car dealers only give a 15 day warranty. That's how it was with the car I bought about 3 years ago.
I stopped watching Flying Wheels six months ago because that guy loves to hear himself talk. He is the most arrogant guy on TH-cam and boasts about the amount of money he loses from his ignorance in buying cars/trucks that have a reputation as C*ap, and have a bad reliability record, e.g., AUDI. The owner moved to Florida, spending more money on stupid purchases like boats, owns a Tesla Cybertruck, among other nonsensical vehicles, and talks about how honest he is. This video has proven otherwise, especially after he was moving from New Hampshire to Florida, and instead of giving a beautiful grand piano to the school or any other person who could have used it, he chopped it up and put it in the trash. Should say it all about this guy!
5:39 maybe new Hampshire is different but 23 years in the auto business and I've NEVER seen a used car lot where the vehicles come with any warranty. Even 3mo/3000 or any. In Washington state at least EVERY used car is deemed as is no warranty expressed or implied. And of course they offer an extended but I'm with you those are a ripoff.
So you bought a car that is known to have engine issues, without a warranty, without an inspection, and took it for engine work and now you are hurting and want the dealership to take it back. The dealership didn’t force you to buy it, you accepted the terms of AS-IS.
I’ve see other dealers on YT who sold a BMW the engine blew up in 24 hours and the dealer took the car back and gave the kid another car of his choice because the owner made it clear it’s about respect and keeping a client happy.
The p0420 code coming up right away is a sure sign that they just cleared the codes and sold it knowing there was an issue. It needed to run the catalyst monitoring test.
As-is disclosure is being ethically, correct. Especially coming from a vehicle that has an engine with notorious oil consumption problems, and failing rings or turbo.
They didn't scam you!!! You bought a notoriously bad car known for throwing engines especially used! Then you bought it, quickly after it did what's it's known for, you bought it knowing full well it had no warranty and then wanted them to fix it and buy you a new engine? How about doing some research on a good car next time! Sounds like you learned a $5200 lesson but it's honestly not the dealers fault it's yours!!!!
So you knew the bridge was out, but drove off the bridge anyways . Then blamed the detour sign for not being clear enough . Get over yourself bro .
“These Hyundais and Kias, engine problems galore”. So you knew they had issues, you refused the warranty, and bought As-Is. Now you want someone else to pay for your mistake. What kind of scam are you trying run?
Dude why are you posting a video saying you got scammed when you turned down a warranty and bought it “as is”? Then you took it to a dealer and they checked out and said was good to go and now you say you got scammed. What a whiner!!

Scam? It’s a used car and you get it as is
Here's a short but long explanation of how I take your video and it's just advice so take it for what it's worth.

If that’s the case then you choose your own fate. You have to be smart with your buying, don’t just buy it because it’s cool.
It’s a used car and his inventory comes from auction you never know what you’re going to get and they’re bought as is. Definitely not a scam. Things can go bad at anytime.
I don't think you do understand "AS IS". Even a PPI might not have found this problem. PPIs don't boroscope. The thing a PPI would find is the trouble code.
Thanks for watching!
He doesn’t understand “as is”
Cliff from barroom? Lol
You bought the car AS IS! You turned down buying a warranty to save you money even drove away on your own tag to save you money. YOU SCAMMED YOUR SELF PAL!
This video is a scam.
You bought a $5,500 car AS IS.
You state in your video, "Hyundai's and Kia's are throwing motors left and right." You KNOWINGLY bought a problem car and now you're upset that you had a problem....no sympathy.
Your first mistake is switching from a Toyota to a Hyundai.
I used to watch the Flying Wheels youtube channel. Because I watched his channel, I would never buy a car from him. I have seen that guy spray paint carpets, etc. I bet you he cleared the codes before selling the car. The funny thing is that he is very self righteous and arrogant.
You do have a lot of responsibility here though. I think you know that.
I certainly do know this. Thanks for watching!
Of course he knows, he just didn't want to have to admit it.😅😂
Yes u have to wonder if they cleared codes or doped the engine with marvel or something? But especially his videos always saying what a stand up guy he is and comments people call him crying wheels.....on the flip side he must know a junkyard or poss source an engine and help get the car fixed on the cheep...?
Taking the time to dye vaporetto to make them look better is NOT a bad thing!! You expect a dealer to replace carpet?? You're smaarrrt! 🙄😒
So let’s get this straight, you do your OWN HOMEWORK on this car before you buy it and find out they have MAJOR engine issues. THEN you proceed to buy that type of car anyway. Shame on you.
Also, you may want to be careful with naming companies and publicly giving out bad reviews. People have been sued for doing just that.
Thanks for watching!
@@cliffvictoria3863 it’s not the bad review it’s the part where he says he was scammed that could get him sued. If he was smart (which this whole incident shows he not) he would remove this video.
Craig is filing court proceedings. Hope ya have a good lawyer bud!
@@TKsGarage1 Having a bit of a legal background, you hold yourself out to the public, the public can express any opinion on you and your business as long as it's not criminal. Sue all you want. The only people who win are the attorneys who get the billable hours.
This is why you get a PRE purchase inspection on a used vehicle!!! They didn't know but even if they did, , you could have protected yourself for a couple hundred dollars! Post inspections are funny especially the crying part! 🤣😂😅
It sucks that this happened and regardless of it being sold "AS IS" they should've done the right thing, doesn't necessarily mean give you the money back but get you sorted in some way,I've been watching Craigs videos for a long time and it baffles me that he would do this,im sorry for the whole ordeal and it sucks that nowadays this is how most people operate!
Check with some small local mechanics instead of Hyundai... We are able to get used motors, plus labor, plus some kind of warranty on some models for 1200-1800 bucks... Worth calling a few small mechanics to see if that's an option
I hear you. Thanks for watching!
50 grand for a truck that’s crazy
@@carquestionsanswered long story short he should of drove to NC to buy a car from you atleast yiu would stand behind the issue and make it right.
@@roosevelthillscemetery bad take, bro. Pretty sure it'd be the same sitch with Brandon. The Hyundai dealership cleared it as no problem. How the hell is some dude who resales cars from auction going to catch it? I feel for the guy, and I'd be pissed as well, but FW isn't some random shady used car shop. Bad optics like scamming customers would destroy their entire online presence.
You signed the contract nobody owes you anything.
This is what you signed
(No verbal agreements will be honored by dealer.)
This vehicle is being sold as/is with no warranties, retums or guarantees expressed or implied. The vehicle has been inspected by the buyer and is in running condition. It has been discounted from its retail value in consideration of any repairs it may need. Upon signature and payment, the buyer assumes sole
responsibility, and liabiltiy and no way will the seller, dealer, and/or current owner any longer be held liable.
Exactly, it's just an excuse to use "Flying wheels scammed me!! In a thumbnail to get his own channel some views. When your buying a car like that you may as well buy it on marketplace. Nobody on their would give him a refund on it either. Especially because his son probably drove it like he stole it.
He is going to get sued by Flying Wheels for deformation
Ridiculous to say this is a scam. You knew and ignored every warning sign and the Hyundai dealer said there wasn’t a problem, this is completely on you.
You test drove it, then bought it WITHOUT a warranty.
End of story.
You weren't scammed. You purchased a 9 year old car with out a ppi. I also guarantee you signed "as is no warranty" document
Don't give up...keep pushing to get it fixed...you need to talk to Craig not the receptionist...I watched a video of his where something like this happened and yes he wasn't happy to have to fix the issue but they both settled on paying half to get the vehicle in question fixed. So possibly he will ATLEAST help with half the cost towards a salvaged motor! Don't give up! ❤ Give us a update...
Thanks for watching!
So a guy that supposedly knows cars goes and buys a used Hyundai from a used car dealer and expects it to be reliable. He doesn't even check if the OBD2 is emissions ready or has been cleared recently. Great way of getting lots of views and likes by crying about being scammed by another TH-camr that is much more popular. If you truly cared about your kids you would have bought a Honda or a Toyota from the original owner and you wouldn't have a TH-cam video to make. Lol boohoo 😂
Exactly..if you watch flying wheels video he did a video about this guy and what truly happened!! Dont feel one ounce of sympathy for this dude trying to belittle or badmouth another youtuber to get views for his crappy small channel!
Boss you wrong number 1 you need to bring your own mechanic if they don't offer any warranty number 2 I won't offer any warranty either if I buy used cars in a dealer auction number 3 you wouldn't be making this video if you would've went with your own mechanic. Enough said.
Velosters are known for issues. Shouldve done your research. And you denied the warranty. You bought a $5200 car and expected it to be perfect lmao
Any car you buy from a used car dealership can be a piece of crap.
First problem is you bought a 9 year old Hyundai expecting it to be problem free, which is just stupid. A Corolla or a Camry would have been a much safer bet, but it also wouldn't have been 5 grand.
Buddy, as both a parent and a consumer who occasionally has to shop at this price range, I totally understand your frustration. However, throughout your video, you’ve actually explained why this wasn’t a scam. From haggling over the price, declining the warranty, and even acknowledging upfront that these cars aren't in great condition-all of that was clear before you made the purchase. Then, you said you took it to a Hyundai dealer, and they gave it a clean bill of health. I get that you're frustrated, but calling out this small dealer as a scammer just feels wrong. At the end of the day, it seems like you ignored common sense and the dealership’s policies.
He knows all of that. He's just trying to gain viewers by naming a more popular TH-camr in the title of his video. I'm betting that it was all in his plan from the beginning. He's probably bought cars from other popular TH-camrs HOPING he could make this video but the cars didn't cooperate. 🙄😒
SOLD AS IS ! You took the gamble and lost. Not Flying Wheels fault
After seeing your vid you have my sympathy and I came to the conclusion that Mr. Flying Wheels is a POS. As a dealer there is no reason that he would no be aware that Hyundai and Kia cars are noted for engine failures and he bought it at auction dirt cheap and probably knew it was junk. If I were in his shoes, I would have taken the car back and bent over backwards to make it right to the customer. Mr. Flying Wheels has lost any respect I ever had for him and I will never watch another one of his vids.
I may watch with sunglasses. He sold the car in bad faith
You didnt get scammed,NH doesn't have a lemon law and ive bought 2 used cars and I always buy the aftermarket warranty just because of something like this.I know it sucks and your not happy but it's a used car for cheap, you rolled the dice and it came out craps....you can't blame the dealer.
Didn’t get scammed bought “as is” you didn’t want a warranty so it is all on you. This video is a joke. You deserve to be sued. It’s not a “scammer video”.
You bought a used car for cheap and as is. You should know better.
No scam here bud. You bought an as-is car without inspection. However, these Hyundais can break down any time without any warning - even if inspected thoroughly.
When you picked the car up was it running? Of course it was. As soon as you left the lot, it was YOUR burden, not the seller's.
Thank your government, as a used car dealer we have to sell them as is, and we have to have someone go on test drives, I've had father and son try to race a Corvette with a dually diesel, and insurance requires it, plus, as much as we as dealers, would want to help you, once we break the as is veil, now ,we have implied a warranty, and then we will get sued for everything ! forever, thank the attorneys, and no fan of another dealer, but last I knew, the dealer did not build the car, plus, all cars are crap these days, lease a car and give it back when your done, I'd like to see the video of the dealer forcing you to buy the car
Thanks for watching!
you got it for 300 $ less then asking price. you can´t get it for less and get a free warranty. and you knew all the faults of a hyundai, AND a hyundai dealer said it was fine so how would you expect they too know.... embarrassing.
Really?? A 5500 dollar used car with a 3 month warranty? Where? No crying towel from me!
Yeah really. The best warranty you'll get is probably the CarMax 90 day
Not to mention Craig just lost $40,000 on that electric Audi and now probably about $50,000 on that Ferrari not to mention the Tesla truck that hes probably gonna take a $40-$50,000 hit on so that’s about $150,000 that Craig just lost on three cars, he actually is going broke like he said he is barely scraping by.
Sir, you’re not special. Why do you think you’re entitled to special treatment from a dealership? Like you said, you don’t have a leg to stand on. You bought it ‘as is’ and declined to buy a warranty. What are you complaining about? You’re embarrassing yourself.
You said “engine problems galore” maybe don’t buy as is then?? And it STILL passed from Hyundai too. Take some accountability man don’t be a Karen playing the blame game and attacking them
As is" refers to a condition where a product or item is sold without any guarantees or warranties regarding its quality or condition. The buyer accepts it in its current state, with all existing flaws or issues.
Buying used As is means it is now your vehicle. No fault of Flying wheels
Yeah, lesson learned. Wanted to help a local business, and it bit me. Thanks for watching!
The schools or thrift shops won't take um. Too FN heavy
Agree 💯. Most arrogant guy ever!
Its a Hyundai..you could have not bought it 😂
5:39 maybe new Hampshire is different but 23 years in the auto business and I've NEVER seen a used car lot where the vehicles come with any warranty.
Craig is a joke but I don't see how this is a scam as this is a terrible car and driving one is like playing roulette
Thanks for watching!
I don't see anything that Craig did wrong...! Where's the scam...?
I’ve see other dealers on YT who sold a BMW the engine blew up in 24 hours and the dealer took the car back and gave the kid another car of his choice because the owner made it clear it’s about respect and keeping a client happy.
The p0420 code coming up right away is a sure sign that they just cleared the codes and sold it knowing there was an issue. It needed to run the catalyst monitoring test.
Agreed. Thanks for watching!
As-is disclosure is being ethically, correct. Especially coming from a vehicle that has an engine with notorious oil consumption problems, and failing rings or turbo.
No scam here.
