Sold on Kenwood, thanks to you two excellent gentlemen ! God Bless You Both. You've been the greatest of help, because I've been trying for literally months for product info for a radio with both, front and rear cameras.
Your videos are like the "Forgotten Manual" series of books. You covered the reason the image from my front camera was flipped. This was completely skipped in the manual for my Kenwood radio and not something I could find discussed anywhere else. You folks rock!
The last video i watched right before coming to this one had a comment saying how you guys look like Napoleon Dynamite and Pedro all grown up, than i come here and see the shirt lol
I just hooked up my backup camera and didn’t realize I had two sets of lines. After watching your video I realize the second set was from the Kenwood Receiver (cutting them off now) thanks. I do have a question about the wiring. I definitely want to be able to see behind my car when driving forward for tailgaters etc. Can I use the pigtailed second wire to run a permanent hotwire to the backup camera from the radio?
Hello!! From the future, we had our set up hooked up and everything works fine aside from the image itself being flipped. We only have a reverse cam so when I saw this video I was confused that I don’t have an option to do the mirror on the R cam
You Guys are great, very informative! Do the cameras work when your driving? If I'm just going down the highway and I hit the cam button, will it display my rear view the entire time?
Because the rear cameras power is coming from the lead for the reverse lights, the rear camera will only work when the shift stick is in reverse (unless it's wired in to a constant power source which may counter act the handy feature some decks have where the rear cam display automatically turns on when the rear cam receives power.)
I have the same setup and my front camera comes on randomly while I'm driving, then goes off again. I only have the power wire hooked up to the switched wire on the head unit, and the video cable in the front camera slot. The ground is not hooked up but the camera still works, which is weird. Any ideas why it's doing that?
Love your channel! I have a DDX-393 and I hooked up a backup camera but the camera is a front cam and the image is flipped. Is there a setting to flip the rear input? Any fix other than getting a new (proper) rear-view camera? Thanks.
Hello my friend, nice video. Can i ask for something i have a problem???I have a dnx 9280bt and installed a ccd rear camera with cvbs signal. The monitor is 800x 480 resolution. Why can't i see when installed??? Everything is installed correctly although. Is it because of the monitor display???
What exact model is this in the video? I like the different led color lights in this one compared to others that just have the same color light going across
I "assumed" the power for the f/r cameras would be switched as needed. Someone on the Kenwood 800 number was trying to tell me to hook up so they were always on when the ignition was on. I didn't believe them. I thought you probably had a video on the subject, and because I am here, I obviously found that you do. You told me the same thing as Kenwood. Somehow... I trust what you said, even though it was basically the same thing the Kenwood 800 guy said, that I thought was wrong. Should I apologize to the Kenwood 800 guy? ;) Thanks for what you do
Mike Jordan that is a great story, made us laugh. Thank you very much for watching and sharing. No, forget that guy, they are pretty much useless anyway.
Does having the camera powered on the entire time you're driving harm the camera? I think most have a heating element in them and aren't meant to be on for more than just a minute, or so, at a time.
Our backup camera was working well. Now it shows ground view, rather than parking lines. Other systems have a magnifying icon that allows you to toggle between ground view and parking lines. Is there any way to do this on this system?
I have the same deck, my issue is that the rear view camera is not displaying like a mirror, in other words I see the traffic that is on the right appear on the left side of the screen, which is confusing and makes you think obstacles are in the wrong side of the car when backing up. Any suggestions on how to change that? Thank you! BTW Your videos are awesome.
@@danstevens238 no, they never answerd. But I figured it out. You peal the insolation of the camera cable and cut the yellow wire and inverts the image
I have a question about the audio/beeping when you get close to objects as you back up. Is the beep audio coming from the camera or is it built into the stereo system? I just swapped my kenwood stereo out from a 2009 EDGE to a 2010 Fusion. I had the beeping working on the EDGE by so far no luck on the fusion. Where should I start troubleshooting? thanks.
Any advice on a Kenwood DMX906S not being able to mirror front camera? The front and rear camera options are grey'd out. It looks like others on here are having similar problems, but no responses. Thanks.
I have a 2015 Toyota Tacoma in which I just installed a Kenwood DNX773S. I have heard that the camera voltage on the stock radio is 6 volts and the camera output on the Kenwood is 12 volts. Do I need to replace my stock Tacoma rear camera with a 12 volt version? Thanks!
I have a 2007 Tundra, a few questions:1) Do I hook uo power to the front camera? If I install a switchto operate the power to the front camera will it bring on the camera when I hit the camera power switch? Do you know where I can find reverse power for the purple wire in the cab?
Is there any radio that support front and rear parking type cameras.. that can be mounted to the license plate? My Honda Element has next to nowhere else to put them. Please assist!
When in reverse, is the front camera input 'locked out' or can you switch to it by tapping on the screen? I'm wanting to use that input for a 2nd backup camera on my 5th wheel trailer.
Do you have a video on how to wire the front Camera my KENWOOD doesn’t allow me to get view out of the front one and I have everything wire it was working one second the next it wasn’t can you help
The newer Kenwoods have dedicated power wires intended for their CMOS-3xxx series cameras on the wire harness. Would it be possible to tap into that power for the front and rear camera, so that the camera only powers on when you select a camera view (opposed to having the cameras running all the time when the vehicle is on and them getting hot)? Or do those CMOS-3xxx power leads operate at something other than 12v?
I really appreciate your how to videos. One question. I am connecting an echomaster cam-lp1-p cmos camera in rear to a hitachi DNX695S . On the kenwood harness it has 2 banana plugged wires. One says cam+ and one says cam -. I'm not clear what they do. I have video plug coming off camera to plug into kenwood. I have red and black coming off camera. I know black goes to harness black for ground. But the red from camera, does it go to one of those mentioned above or to red on harness?
You Guys are great, very informative! but i have a proplem with my kenwood mdv525g i cant turn the language to english it is jabanese now| any ane can help me pls ?
I've watched all your videos and everyone else's the last 2 days on wiring an existing back up camera to new unit. I got the Kenwood dmx7706s for my 2018 Mercedes sprinter 2500, 170 extended cab diesel. How installation was ok. Does it by myself. Since wires left over that are my specific. I even got a cheap cheap back up to her the harness because it's the exact one you guys talk about minutes 2 wires but nothing. I'm awake to get it where it switches to the backup camera when in throw it in revers but no picture no matter what. What an I doing with and is it even possible for me to switch it from my mirror to the beat unit without a specialist with special software?
I've got a DNX692 and ever since it was reconnected after having the rear bumper replaced (due to an accident), the image is reversed and the body shop doesn't want to fix what they effed up. How do I fix it?
Is there a place to connect the purple wire thats around the dash area or right at the shiftier to connect the purple wire to. Or do you have to go all the way to the rear lights ?
How can you install a front facing camera that will automatically come on when it sees a obstruction. The backup cameras get triggered by the backup lights but i want my front camera to trigger when an obstacle is close. Reason for this i have a very low car and even parking blocks made to stop the tire will hit the fiberglass glass vance on my bmw. So i want a camera that will warn me if I am coming to close to a parking obstacle without always having the camera on. Any suggestions
Do you know if the Kenwood DDX6903S has feature to change the view mode on reverse camera? My factory CRV camera has normal, wide angle and top down view and would still like to be able to switch the view as needed.
We just did a Honda CRZ with this same feature. No you will lose all of those features in the new radio. We also ended up changing the camera out because the factory camera looked terrible. The factory camera is super wide angle so it can do all those features. When you are using it has a straight camera it is had to see. The customer tried it out for a week hated it and had us just replace it with an aftermarket. The car also had the passenger mirror came and that looked fine. When I try to set up the Guidelines mine does not show the camera image and displays "cannot adjust while driving". Uh, I am not driving? is this the parking brake wire thing that needs to be rigged?
