    I just used this to repaint our bathroom. It is wild how much it looks like Regal matte, but cleans like like eggshell. We’ll see how it does in terms of durability and results long term.

    Thank you. Very informative.
    I used Benjamin Moore Regal for the last Reno about $60-65 in NYC 5 years ago.
    After watching your video I wanted to check Sherwin Williams duration - $85 in FL.

      $85 is a bit much for Duration, but our prices have been going up too 😔. I'd keep an eye out for a good sale, then stock up on what you need.

    This was really helpful! Thanks. It didn't even occur to me to use different paint on the ceiling in a bathroom 🤦🏻‍♀️

    Why do you use matte finish for a bathroom? You mentioned that you prefer SW Duration in matte. I'm about to repaint my bathroom and every article indicates that I should be going with satin or semi-gloss for durability and resistance to trapping mold spores. I do think that matte looks nicer... is that the reason you choose it?

    • @SuperVassarBrothers
      @SuperVassarBrothers  ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Using a higher sheen paint like satin or semi-gloss use to be the only options back in the day. The paint relied on the sheen to resist moisture and mold. With todays specialty paints that have mold moisture resistance built into the formulations like Benjamin Moore’s Bath and Spa or the Duration line from Sherwin Williams, you have other options. Benjamin Moore’s Bath and Spa paint only comes in a matte finish. You’ve got more options with Duration. I prefer the Duration Matte on the walls and ceiling. It’s really more of an eggshell finish and it holds up really well. If your bathroom has poor ventilation then you may want to consider going with Duration satin.

      We used SW SuperPaint in a satin finish previously. We had terrible issues with water streaking/leaching. How do you prevent leaching streaks?

    The place I’m living right now has a super glossy, near plastic looking coating on all the walls in the bathroom. It’s absolutely amazing for moisture. There is no fan in the bathroom and I have had 0 issues with mildew growth. In the summer I tend to leave the small window open but 7-8 months out of the year it stays closed during my hot hot showers. I wish I knew what product was used.

    • @SuperVassarBrothers
      @SuperVassarBrothers  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It’s likely a semi-gloss or even a gloss paint. They generally hold up well, but it’s not the finish that most folks want in their bathroom.

    The price has gone up quite a bit since this video. Ace hardware is charging $85 an gallon for this last I checked. This is making Sherwin Williams Duration look all the more reasonable with the current 30% off sale.

    • @SuperVassarBrothers
      @SuperVassarBrothers  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yeah, all of our prices have gone up for all the paints that we buy. You might be able to find a better deal at a Benjamin Moore store, but that's not too far off from what we're paying right now. You should be able to find Duration for around $50ish a gallon, particularly if you find it on sale. Good luck!

    Redoing my bathroom and been going between BM and SW and think I'll go with SW. I usually go with something from Home Depot, but due to the moisture issues, I prefer something that can stand up. Plus I only need a gallon and there is no trim to deal with and only one color so the cost difference is not worth the gamble. I'm normally and eggshell guy but matte will be fine since it is a small room anyway. Thanks for the great reviews on both products.

      The website is not reflective of what you’d pay in a store. Paint pricing is weird. Right now you can get this product for about $70-$85 depending on whether or not you get a store discount.

I have no idea. But I love it. Thank you guys for the awesome content! I'm sure it's a great resource for professionals, aspiring professionals, and DIYers alike, but I just find it to be quality, entertaining content that I can enjoy while hopefully learning a thing or two along the way! @SuperVassarBrothers  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can, but that paint might wear down or flake faster if it doesn't have moisture blocker. Also it depends on how much moisture your bathroom has after a shower. We like Duration matte from Sherwin Williams. We did a video on that one as well. th-cam.com/video/SGFB1n0ID7c/w-d-xo.html Good luck!

    hi, I am looking for a matte wall paint for a steamy bathroom--which paint would you suggest? I thought this might be a good one, as we do have the sweaty walls. I will upgrade our fan, but I don't know of another good matte that will wipe clean. any thoughts? thanks for the video! all good points. too bad it's not more self-leveling.

      I would not recommend doing that. Those are two different products with two different sheens. Mixing them will probably not accomplish what you’re going for.

    Why are you using matte on a bathroom ceiling? Are you saying to put matte over a shower?

    • @SuperVassarBrothers
      @SuperVassarBrothers  5 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Bath and Spa only comes in a matte finish. It has moisture and mold blocking agents built into it so it’s meant to hold up well in a high moisture environment. The same is true of Duration and Emerald from Sherwin Williams. We use the matte finish in those as well in bathrooms.

    • @vajona2495
      @vajona2495 5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@SuperVassarBrothers Man, if that is true, it's amazing sometimes how far we have come with technologies; however, it seems that matte finish would allow water to penetrate into the drywall and its seems over the shower causing some major issues.
