    Whooaa! I just got a sample can of Aura paint today and tested it out on one wall. I still can't get over the fact that there is no yucky chemical smell coming off the paint. Usually that smell lingers for a while while it's drying but not with Aura. I can finally feel comfortable painting at home without burning my nose and getting a headache. The color is so vibrant as well compared next to a wall I painted with Regal. I'm in awe how it retains it's vibrancy even when it gets dark later in the day.

    I've tried a lot of paint over the years. Finally decided to paint our whole 19th century victorian home with Aura. I did all the painting myself. This is hands down the very best paint I've ever used. Everything this guy says is true Plus - the deepest richest color you can imagine. So elegant. SW duration isn't even in the same league.

      @@helenalovelock1030 Helen, the "matte" finish is very flat - absolutely no sheen, almost like a chalkboard - zero sheen at all. We love it in this old house (1890). Looks really good and is easy to clean without it coming off. I think it comes in other finishes like "satin". I can't speak to the combo - I'd talk to your Benjamin Moore dealer. Ours is very good.

    I’m not a professional painter but I have painted quite a bit and I also love painting! The Aura is giving me a lot of trouble, it sags terribly! I I am brushing parts at the moment and will spray others later. I tried different brushes, adding water, that’s what I do to Scuff Ex to get the right consistory and a perfect brushed finish, but no matter what I do I have sags here and there. Anyone that have an opinion on this and an alternative to using Scuff Ex that works better then the Aura? I’m sanding, again, and will head out to get a different paint soon. Would love some pro suggestions for what to get pls 😊

    Does anyone know why after aura paint dries, and gets a water drop on it, there is a color change until it dries and then the paint returns to the dried color. What is this.

    • @thepaintpeople
      @thepaintpeople  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      The particles of the water or oil solvent will absorb or refract light, blocking light from getting to the pigment, making it look darker. Once dry, however, the solvent is gone and the pigment can absorb and reflect light to achieve it's true color.

      It does have slightly better moisture resistance, yes. In terms of primer, it all depends on what you're applying it on. Aura has great coverage. I think it's more of a Chantilly Lace issue, which has tough coverage in general because it's so light and bright. Whenever you're painting walls white, I almost always recommend you do 3 coats for full coverage. The other option is picking an off-white instead, as coverage will be better.

      You should have a slightly better time with super white, but if it were me, I'd probably end up priming first, especially if I'm covering anything darker than a midtone.

      You may get away with the 2 coats. Whichever paint you choose, ask the store if they have a white, or a 0X base. They sometimes carry them, and they're made to have better coverage for whites and Off-Whites.

    Would you ever use Aura on trim/doors? I was planning to use ScuffX or Advance, but I keep gravitating to CSP colors that can only be mixed in Aura 🤦🏻‍♀️

    Can you apply this paint to both wood trim, baseboards and walls?

    • @thepaintpeople
      @thepaintpeople  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I'd use the matte and eggshell for walls, and satin and semi-gloss for trim/baseboards.

      @@thepaintpeople Just checked the technical data sheet for Aura Matte and it's recommended for New or previously painted wallboard, plaster, masonry and
      wood....so should be good for walls and wood trim. Or might opt for ultra spec scuff x for the extra durability. Do you have a video on that?

    Who ever is getting one coat coverage Id hate to see how rough the stipple is from using a high nap roller. I find aura about the same as Super paint in pretty much all aspects.

    While I agree it's partly our fault. The W technique and no backrolling requirements should definitely be in bold on the label and tds . Especially the backrolling .
    We had so much flashing it was a nightmare to work with. But then again, it was serverly reduced once. we stop to back roll.
    Strange thing is we did regal select no issues what so ever . And it glowed .

      Aura definitely takes some getting used to; next time, use the Ben Moore extender, it will slow down the dry time and make Aura easier to apply.

    • @pattythomas1848

      Yes, I switched to “BEN” which worked fine. sometimes the highest priced, over marketed product is not the best. lesson learnt.

    Not a fan of it , just finished painting a 2 million dollar house with it, took two coats and some areas could even use a 3rd coat in some areas, not much working time with it, doesn’t work well cold temps, very finicky, spatters, pain in the ass, prefer regal select or duration from Sherwin Williams. If you have perfect temps all day with no fog or humidity and like spending mone6 then use it. Regal select is more versatile, or regal high build select. Indoors aura is ok.
