Welcome back! Still looking tight. 👌 Amen on Autumn sucks. My lawn is a mess after the recent cold front and all the leaves from the neighbours. 🤬 Can't wait for the leaves to finish falling. 😅
Thanks man. I hear you! Usually my leaves fall forever but this year the trees are bare already so not as bad as usual luckily. Frangipani hasn’t even started shedding yet 🤷
Nice to see you back at it. My lawn completely stopped growing, the past 2 mowing I haven't removed anything. Luckily it's stil green for the most part. Left it alone for almost 3 weeks now without mowing. Seeds started popping up everywhere but no change on grass blade length.
Thanks bud, it’s great chatting with everyone again! Ja it’s time to just protect what’s there basically. Seeds are an indication of either stress or that the grass is happy. In this case it’s probably stress but don’t worry about it. Put down a little Fert or some sifted compost/topsoil as an option as well.
@@BackyardBushveld Definately pays dividends to mow regularly. Ive got my Kikuyu at 3/4" (19mm) and its holding on here in NSW Australia, but im down to mowing once a week and not getting many clippings. My Ryegrass oversow on the Bermuda front yard is at 1/2" (12.7mm) and im loving it.
Hey welkom terug.👍. Nice sien jy het n nuwe experiment, sien uit daarna. Gelukkig by my in n kompleks is my grass nog lekker groen soos jy se beskerm teen die elements. Ook so bietjie van n mikro klimaat want hitte van die muur af en teels etc. Gewonder oor die manual push cylinder mowers (geen engine, wel behalee vir mens krag), werk hulle actually op kikuyu? Lekker aand verder.
I recently watched some of your videos and I have to say, you are whizz when it comes to lawncare, sir! I am a student currently and am looking to start a gardening hustle in my local area. What would you say are the essentials I would need before starting? I would appreciate your advice so much!🙏
Thanks bud! I suppose I’m not the right guy to ask as I don’t own a garden service type business, but if there’s one thing I could say that I’m sure will be the case, is that you need to operate at a high speed and still turn out a good quality service. This means that you should try purchase the best quality tools that you can as that will help you speed up each session and still have a good quality cut and clean up. This way you can get more gardens done per day.
Hey Jason, Thanks for watching! Very good question, and I’m glad you picked that up!!! I definitely do in certain parts where compaction is an actual problem, like that small spot where my backyard leads off the stoop. Otherwise I don’t see the need in my yard. When I started the channel I had serious compaction and hydrophobic soil in most parts, everywhere basically. So much so that I couldn’t even get a garden fork in the ground. It would just bounce off the surface, even when wet. So, my first stop was to treat the hydrophobic soil, and then improve microbiological activity in the soil, and only then if that didn’t work I would’ve hired a core aerator…but that day never came. That being said, if the core aerator can’t get into the ground, it’s pretty useless to start with. Over time, The soil has improved significantly if I say so myself. So much so, that I recently cut out around 70m linear of lawn, probably over 100m2 in total, manually using a spade to make new garden beds, and the lawn cut out very easily. I was able to push the spade about 20-30cm into the soil over most of the area. Some areas not so much but overall very good. Remember, if water can penetrate properly, it means that gaseous exchange can also occur and in turn cause roots to penetrate deeper as well as allow better microbial activity to take place which causes better aggregation of fine particles and in turn allows a sort of natural de compaction to take place. This basic soil improvement allows plants to grow better, and when plants grow better they promote better soil quality even without you adding organic compliments. Hope that answers your question. Cheers

Looks like its going into winter nicely.
Thanks bud! Not bad indeed. Really wish I’d stuck to regular mowing though!

Hey Nicky, ja Daai manual mowers is nogal lekker. Hou gewoonlik noe so lank nie maar op n klein area is julle nogal goed.
Great to see you again Travis. I think it still looks good and those edges are razor sharp. 👍🏻💚🦸🏻♂
Hey Striperman! It’s great to hear from you again! The edges are sharp only because i finally own a weed eater again😂
@@BackyardBushveld haha well you are putting it to good use 😁
😄

@@BackyardBushveld This makes absolute sense🙌. Time to save up for the equipment… Thank you!
Why do you never aerate your lawn ?
Ps: Learning alot from your videos
