So I have a question for you. It's really in two parts and I'll try to explain the best and shortest way possible. How do you get rid of crab grass cause my whole yard is just Crab Grass.
What would grow well under my black walnut tree. I have a lot of squrriels or tree rats as I call them. So I have a shell problem from the walnuts

Me too! Tried using trugreen, but the tech that came out was so douchy I cancelled. Then they called and called and i said I'll do it myself! The guy laughed so hard and I said well I follow a guy on TH-cam, he said TH-cam? Almost fell off his chair laughing! Then I said yeah he worked for trugreen for 10 years and now has a TH-cam channel. The guy went silent hahahahaah!!!! He was like what, who, when? I was like yeah dont worry about it, like I said I'll do it myself.

Obsession is not a healthy thing to indulge. If it's a hobby and an escape from work, that's different, but just don't become a yard-care Nazi who gets bent out of shape if your neighbors don't share your obsession. In the bigger picture of human virtue, lawn care is near the bottom of the list.

We had a terrible lawn when we purchased our house in Pennsylvania 2 years ago. Lots of brown dirt, patches of unhealthy grass, and lots of stones/rocks everywhere! With your help it's beautiful now. It was a lot of work, but my hubby and I saved it. The best thing we did was spread about 7 yards of topsoil an inch deep all over the yard. Talk about getting some exercise! (not like spreading mulch which is half the weight!) Then we put the seed down, watered it, and we have a lush green lawn now 2 months later. Love ya, man.

Great video! Learnt allot. My wife and I just purchased a house in Fort Lauderdale, the previous owner didn’t do anything for the lawn, now have allot of work cut out for me and paying a lawn guy was a big mistake as they cut it too short and killed a large patch. As soon as I purchase a lawn mower and all the required tools it will change for good.

You should get in touch with a company that produces calendars and create 2 calendars for lawn care. One for northern grasses and one for summer grasses! … I’ve never in my life heard of a lawn tech ~ I’m guessing this is something you have in America 🤷🏻‍♀️ we cut our own grass over here (uk) unless you’re really lazy and then you’d simply pay a gardener or a local kid a tenner or £20 to cut ya grass

    • @alexfred8789
      @alexfred8789 2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@autumn5852 I do fertilizer and chemical applications for lawns. Here in America or at least state by state there are different requirements like passing a test first to become a registered technician then go onto different categories like lawn weed control applications or insect applications. We like to see that companies know how to safely apply materials to properties being commercial or residential.

I'm in the process of cutting out MASSIVE portions of my lawn in favor of planting gardens and native plants. I don't like huge lawns-nothing but boring grass.
Flowering gardens are far more enjoyable and easier to maintain. Buuuut..., I do like small lawns that border the garden and add nice curves and framework. They compliment the garden, if used correctly. So thanks for this video-will use it on the remaining lawn.

Mowing is NOT the most important thing. Eating, breathing, and drinking beer is your most important thing (or else you'll be dead), then you can mow if you want. Or you can sit on your super wide recliner and mow only once every summer, and that's in Florida. Like some people I know. Let the grass grow until it reaches your waist, with all kinds of seeds that stick to your clothes.

I want to thank you for getting me to switch to Milo. It has made my yard come alive. I do not use the 11 setting on my scotts rotary spreader, as recommended on the Milo bag. I have about 2,500 sq. Feet in my front yard, so I use the 7 setting and it dumps a bag on my front lawn. I use the same setting in the back yard with a second bag and it will cover the back yard and both side yards, also about 2,500 sq. Ft. I want to put down some preemergent but I still have to much grass seed that has not come out, yet. I am pushing this application back until the first week in May. I am putting out milo about every 4 weeks in order to build up the organic content in my soil, otherwise known as concrete in some locations.

Nothing better than wrapping up a 12hr shift to come home and have a LCN video waiting!. I've followed your advice since the spring ( aside from the organic lawn fert) as I live in Ontario Canada and have had a very hard time finding all the good stuff you guys are fortunate enough to have access to. However minus that one detail I've managed in 6 months to make my lawns appearance do a complete 360 from a weed bed, to a dark green thickening lawn that all my neighbors have been complimenting me on for weeks now!. Once I over seed next week and get another shot of fert down it should look the best it has in years by Halloween. Thanks Allyn for all the great content and continuing videos, I learn something new every week!.

    2. Normally we don’t have much issues with water but I prob need a watering or two

I have watched several of your videos and while I greatly appreciate how you explain things and make sense of things, I am still at a loss as to how to fix my lawn. I feel overwhelmed with all the information available as to how to fix lawn issues and how to apply that info to making my lawn one that I love. I am hoping you won't mind providing some guidence for me. My lawn is really a collection of weeds (clover, crabgrass, wild garlic, goosegrass, nutsedge, ground ivy, spotted surge.. you get the idea) and per a soil test, I have Fescue but I really want to plant Perennial Ryegrass instead (just a personal preferance).
First off, I live in Southeast Virginia and after purchasing my home, I had a soil test done which showed a high acid content. I have applied lime and fertilizer and have tried a couple of different weed killers (and even with your dishsoap trick) the weed killer really did not do the job. I obviously have some drainage issues that I plan on correcting, as well as, leveling my lawn better to drain away from my home. But after having topsoil brought in and that work is completed, I'm totally lost as to how i should proceed.
Despite reluctance to use chemicals, I feel I no longer have a choice. So, my yard is leveled with drainage issues corrected - what do I do next? Do I just need to kill my whole lawn (do a burn), airate or til, then apply new grass seed or what? This is where I'm hoping you can shed some light and perhaps a flow-chart of sorts, so I can stop my head from hurting and get the kind of lawn I really want.
Additionally, what would be the best way to do a burn considering the jungle of weeds I harbor? Any insight, direction, even a hail-mary would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance for your assistance and thank you for the videos!

Thanks for the milorganite tip, I noticed the last number was 0. Years ago they used to say if you wanted to get rid of clover use a fertilizer with the last number 0 or close to it. The clover was taking over two large areas of my lawn last year. This year I used the milorganite you suggested and no more clover.
