Source Audio, a brand known for its impeccable high-fidelity audio processing have officially gone lo-fi. This is Artifakt, and you’re about to get your bits degraded and your tapes destroyed.
Where a lot of today’s lo-fi offerings specialize in one specific thing, Artifakt seeks to be a one-stop nostalgia solution as its 7 modulation modes takes us from squelching radio frequencies, reel to reel tape tones, dirty reverberations, saturated filters, 8-bit arcades, warped vinyls, glitchy pitch sequences and anywhere in between.

“How many effects are you going to put into one pedal?”
The squad at Source Audio: Yes
That's the right answer :D
Surprise, it's a DAW in a box.
this is genuinely one of the first pedals in ages that makes me wanna break my vow of gear acquisition abstinence. been wanting a lofi pedal like this for ages!
In the hands of players like Stefan this pedal is an instrument in itself.
It really can be a transformative device. And that's my favorite kind of devices. Thanks for the sweet words. I truly appreciate it :)
Yeah I knew I shouldn't have watched this. Definitely need this
You're gonna love it! :)
Source Audio has been killing it for a while now.
Definitely!
Been thinking about doing an all SA board, but im not smart enough to operate them lol
@@MrKadidle51 The knobs alone will get you a lot of different tones.
My bass board has 5 KMA pedals and 5 SA pedals at the moment (plus Strymon, and a couple random other pedals). Been considering a midi controller of some sort to replace my stupid switcher but programming it scares me a bit :)
never heard a more beautiful sounding lo-fi pedal
Well that’s awesome to hear!
That's partly thanks to this dude's playing. I always forget his name, The Pedals Zone guy. :D
@@nedim_guitar for sure, but I was also impressed by the nice cleaner tones available out of the pedal, definitely not only for lo-fi bit crushing sounds
never heard that much marketing lingvo in a review. paid promo, isn't it? if this channel is always like that, how did it get popular?
@@yurijogurtsov8710 The pedal does what it does and the sounds speak for themselves. Of course it's a paid review, of course it's marketing. You got a problem with that?
Man, that gets a V for Versatility! Reminds me of listening to my shortwave radio when I was a kid. The glitch mode is worth the price of admission! 😎🎸
It's always amazing to me how sounds can transport us back and forth in time. That radio static instantly took me back to my childhood as well :)
lovely shoegazzy riffs as always
Thank you ❤️
Just when I was thinking I already have too many reverb pedals, you gotta go and do this to me
n+1
This is the best lo-fi pedal i think I've ever heard. As always great video. Thanks Stefan!
Happy you like it so much, man! And thank you a ton for the sweet words about the demo. Means a lot 🙏
Holy shit I want one. Probably the first time I'm seriously considering a pedal at this price point- costs the same as my new guitar lol
wow, i wanted to be like "oh great another lofi pedal" but... this shit sounds incredible. really nice demo on this one
Happy to hear it surprised you in a positive way. It's a phenomenal pedal!
I have a Source Audio EQ2. It is made well, reliable and super useful both sonically and even for utilities like switching instruments and managing levels. I certainly recommend their pedals. This one sounds amazing, been holding out for a "lo-fi" pedal, this might be it. Awesome pickin' Stefan!
Amazing tones! I love Source Audio. Also, they just redesigned the Neuro editing apps for desktop, iOS, and Android for a much cleaner, thoughtful experience!
Meh the apps are a pain after a while. This is cool as a lot of the parameters are on the pedal..
This is way more incredible than I had anticipated!! Well done showing off how amazing this pedal is, ya sold me!
So this is Source Audio’s answer to the Chase Bliss Generation Loss and the Strymon Deco in one box?!
And then some
Source Audio definitely giving the Deco a major run for its money
Sounds for days ! Really well done. Great playing as always man! Most interesting playing style on TH-cam !
Oh boy! Incredibly kind words right there. Thank you for making my morning amazing 🥰
Amazing work on this - and this pedal sounds awesome, the nemesis is still a favorite delay, even against much more expensive units.
Thank you so much, man! And I totally agree on Nemesis. It’s such a great multi-mode delay
Great demo as always! Awesome pedal.
Wow, this is special. Excellent demo, thank you.
5:42 what a gorgeous riff.
Thanks! Really sweet of you
Source Audio has entered into the world of lo fi stuff. Now, I'm going to watch the demo. It could be a gamechanger.
Thanks dear Stefan! Greetings dude. 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
Definitely check out the Ultrawave while you're at it. You'll never have a more intense term, and awesome multiband distortion. But even just as a dual comp dual graphic EQ it's nearly worth its price
Really appreciated this one!!!❤
Great demo, as always: thorough, clear, but also awesome playing that is perfect suited to the pedal features. Thank you!
Wow - Source Audio for the win. It's like a Chase Bliss pedal with a computer editor. Take my money now!
No for real
this is like the warped vinyl and generation loss in 1 pedal, with reverb and chorus added too. this pedal is ridiculous value.
Digital brain, digital heart.
Great demo! And way to go, Source Audio. What an amazing pedal.
Thank you! Really happy you enjoyed the demo. It is indeed an amazing pedal 🙌
Oh my gosh. This might not replace 4 pedals completely but it sure looks like it’ll make recording easier
Oh man I can’t wIt for this video!! Always excited with you drop a new video Stefan!
Hope you enjoyed the demo :)
Stefan. Holy cow. This is gorgeous.
Awwwww ❤️ Happy to hear you enjoyed the sounds so much 😊
Vinyls is not plural for more than one record. Vinyl is both singular and plural when referring to record albums. Amazing pedal demo by the way. I'll be ordering one on payday tomorrow!
Great demo. Beautiful playing and composition.
Gosh! Thank you very very much 🥰
Beautiful sounds there Stefan, well played.
Thank you very much! Can’t take credit for the sounds though. That’s all down to Source Audio. Great sounding pedal 😊
you crushed the review as always! this is a very inspiring and exciting pedal, looking forward to getting one.
Thank you so much! Really kind of you 🥰
Wowww! Thank you for this demo!
My pleasure 😊
Hey man, love your videos and your enthusiasm.
Thank you so much ❤️❤️❤️
Astounding. Thank you very very much for the review. Totally impressing pedal!
My pleasure, man! Cool to hear you dig the pedal so much
We're so tired of pristine clean digital sounds, so we get pedals like this. It gives nice flavor to the sounds!
Such a well done video. Thank you. 🙏
Glad you enjoyed it!
It's crazy how much this little thing can hold!
Perhaps a little too much for me personally even...
Either way, great showcase!
I love the concept
Yeah, Source Audio really thought this one through 😊
I like the Verb Mode! It just sounds great!
Yeah, really cool they included a reverb mode. And it has a character all of its own, that I've never really heard before in other reverb pedals.
Okay, this one is going to be on my list. 🧡
YES! 🙌
It’s about time someone brought back that radio sound I have been waiting and waiting!
All the other effects are cool as well 🥂
This is a beast of a pedal..much more interesting than the CB Onward..and I love my Mood 2!!
Feels like they got 90% of a Gen Loss and Warped Vinyl into a computer editable pedal, added a bitcrusher, and somehow also fit 20% of a Microcosm in with the glitch mode. Now I have to rework my entire pedalboard colorscheme.
Exactly that… I started questioning the presence of my warped vinyl on my board 5 minutes into the demo
I’ve been wanting a stereo instant lofi junky. Doesn’t seem like this will do it.
@FuzzFace Think you should be able to get pretty close in Radio Mode. It’ll give you access to Filter, Compression and Mod Depth + Rate like the Instant Lo-Fi Junkie. On top of that you get access to extra noise textures and modulation shapes… and that’s just in that one single mode. You should definitely be able to get a good part of the way 😊👍
The vinyl mode on this is spectacular - really musical and immediately usable.
Happy you like it. Think that mode sounds great as well
Very interesting, it seems to be an extremely versatile toolbox for texture that sounds easy to fit in a band context too, compared to other pedals in the same vein. Source Audio is really surprising me with this one.
Beautiful ❤🔥
Happy you like it 😊
Ahh man this is absolutely something I need
Yes! Yes it is 😊
this is so rad! Killer demo man.
Thanks, man! Happy you dig it 🎉🙌😊
One more masterpiece from Source Audio! Great!!!
Glad you like it :)
Awesome! Reminds me of the Bitquest.
Sounds pretty good!
Sure does. Happy you like it!
Wait, what?! this is amazing!
Sure is! Happy you like it 😊
Omg, didn't see this coming. I never thought a lofi pedal could possibly topple the GL2 on my board, but this has got me sweating.. Nice one SA!!
Beautiful😎
Cheers, bud! Happy you like it 😊🙏
Damn never thought Id see a Chase Bliss Killer from Source Audio in this pedal format.. I'm too lazy to do the editor thingy but this format lets you get tons of sounds thru the pedal..
EXACTLY the kind of pedal I've been wanting. Perfect and it's RED
Sounds like a match made in lo-fi heaven then ❤️
nailed!!!
Cheers, buddy!
Wow! This thing is incredible. Source Audio never miss! I might have to get one...
(I bet Red Panda are kicking themselves that they didn't make this pedal first. 😜)
It's a cool pedal..I'm thinking about getting it..
Ps:Red Panda have done the Particle, Raster, Radius so I don't think they are jealous bro..
Dudes will see this and think - "hell yeah"
Hell yeah
Hell yeah!!
Hell yeah!
@@MrDxbrown yeah, but do they say, "hell yeah"?
So this is a Generation Loss-esque pedal on a cheap? Splendid.
Definitely isn't cheap tho at $350 but it's not terrible for everything it does.
Sort of, but it can do much, much more than that specific sound. :)
Nice chorus tones
Yeah, they are really great 👍
Great demo as usual ! Fantastic pedal for ambient ! What’s the name of the app used for the Glitch Mode demo please 🙂?
Wow, Source Audio just makes amazing stuff. If they built a modeler with all their effects in it, I'd buy it in a heartbeat.
I tend to think of Chase Bliss Audio pedals as desktop pieces--SO MUCH HANDS-ON TWEAKING--and as such they're not well suited for pedalboards and live performance. This has kept me from picking up a Generation Loss mkII.
But the Artifakt seems to hit the sweet spot for me. Much more pedalboard-friendly. I'll be on the lookout for this!
chase bliss are kinda not for pro musicians... and are priced accordingly haha. dentists only
Dang this would be so fun on my board!
Heck yeah!
Also Stefan, if you guys ever start distributing to the states then I will be absolutely about that life
Love this. We need a new lofi contender
Happy you like it! It’s definitely a serious contender
Lo-fi to the bone ❤
Oh yeah!
I like my reverbs like I like my horchatas: dirty
And after some googling, I now know what a Horchata is 😂
Great video, now we just need to see what you can do with the Ultrawave.
Thank you so much! I've actually had the Ultrawave for a while now, and I seriously love the sounds. I just wish it wasn't so dependent on using the editor and app. That's actually what's been keeping me from making a demo. I get option paralysis whenever I open up that editor. Would be awesome if they made a new Ultrawave in the same format as Artifakt. Just to get a bit more access to some of the important controls in there. But other than that, it's one of the most unique and interesting dirt devices made in the last 10 years, in my opinion.
Thanks for watching....here is my clean tone....
Perfect person to showcase this fantastic machine 🙌. Studio board has the nemesis & ventris on it as the “catch all” add one for my regular delay & reverbs…this may have to join them.
Thank you for the kind words and support, my friend. Never goes unnoticed 🥰 And yeah, if you're already familiar with Source Audio and what their devices are capable of, then this one should feel right at home with you.
one stop destruction shop
I like that tagline 👌
Thought he was gonna bust out that Paul McCartney Christmas song there for a second lol. Excellent demo of an excellent pedal
Pipes of Pea..eeee..eeee eeeeace😁
Great demo - thanks so much. Seems quite similar to the Walrus M1, no? Except the M1 has a nicer looking enclosure.
Kind of has a Soviet vibe to me... aesthetically speaking.😂 My birthday is Friday...need to show this to my wife and work on my puppy eyes.
What phone app was that?
For the rhythm
all hail the algorithm
It's amazing- costs almost as much as my guitar, but it sounds great. Probably for the best, I'm sick of apps anyway- after buying and using the UAFX Lion '68 I'd be fine with never having another pedal that uses an app. But pedal makers seem bent on the idea of making everything work with the phone or the PC or both nowadays. It's getting hard to find anything that doesn't require USB-C, Bluetooth, and an app on your phone to work fully. The Lion 68 shows up needing a firmware update that will also install 3 more cabs and give you a bunch of presets to choose from- and until you get it, it sounds like crap. After the update though- sounds amazing and now you have some presets- which are important because this is a very difficult pedal to dial in on certain tones. The sweet spot for each parameter is very small and they all work together so it's like chasing a moving target- you will get it, but it takes a good while and a lot of effort. Besides, the presets come with stuff like reverb on them that's not on the pedal- the only way to get it is to get the preset.
Amazing Pedal, and mesmerizingly musical demo, Stefan. Again. Respect!
Thanks, man! Really appreciate your kind words
Another pedal I want…. 😅
A constant struggle 😹
I've been watching all the vids on this. So far...you win TH-cam! Pat yourself on the back. How would you compare the "pre-delay" effects of the Meris LVX to this? The Empress Zoia? I have both of the aforementioned. Trying to see if the Artifact makes sense, or if I'd be "doubling down" on something that I can already do.
Well ... I guess now I need to dump my Jackson New Wave for this. It's just no comparison.
Would really love to hear how this responds with bass instead of guitar.
How would you compare this to the Meris ottobit jr? At least the bitcrushing / sample rate / filter? Always liked the idea of the obj in theory but the lack of onboard presets and mix control make it quite impractical on a pedalboard...
Sounds awesome. Help me find one, UK.
Andertons.
Oh no! I think I need this. Do I need this? 😵💫
I think you do 😉😹
This has me really debating whether or not to replace my Gen Loss with the Artifakt. Also, Stefan, please tell me how to create the chord voicings from the section starting at 14:30. That part is just so incredible, and I'd give up more than I should to be able to figure out how to make something sound 1/10th that good.
Lofi Swiss Army Knife!
ughhh, my wallet...
Love that tagline. Wish I had chosen that for my thumbnail 😃
@@thepedalzone It's never too late to change the thumbnail…
Cool pedal. what is tha app used with the glitch mode? Thanks
Get Blooms :10 worlds... thank you..
@@patrickr6505 Thanks, sadly it is not available for android, do you know some alternative similar app?
@@herroglop7411 Oh they must have stopped it for Android..I have an Android and got it a couple of years ago.. Maybe if you emailed the company they might be able to do something for you I don't know...
Waiting for UK availability
Already available at Andertons.
Getting Mogwai vibes here
I’m honored to hear that. Best band and the best vibes possible ❤️
do the walrus audio fathom great reverb
What's the phone app you use at the Glitch mode? What other good phone apps make sounds like this?
Bloom ,10 worlds is awesome..
The app is called Coldplay: Hypnotised. Don’t think it’s available anymore. But yeah, check out Bloom: 10 Worlds. Made by the same people and has an identical concept and interface, but a lot more soundscapes/keys to choose from
@@thepedalzone Just wondering Are the footswitches soft latch?..I know the C4 isn't and I always hated that lol..
Would you say this is your favorite lo fi pedal now?
Just out of interest how many pedals does everyone have on their pedalboard? Thanks
You only have one pedalboard?
16,room for one more..This or Chase Bliss Onward, decisions decisions 😋
I go back and forth a lot between wanting more sounds and wanting less decision-making; my minimum is generally 7 but usually I'm somewhere between 7 and 11 pedals. How about you?
@@justink8156 I have too many pedals for just one pedalboard.... GAS unfortunately !... so had A and B boards. I will try to get down to one board soon though.... Maybe 16 pedals.
@@keithb5612 What kind of board and PSU are you using? I love my CIOKS power supplies- they're well-built, low profile and very versatile.
unrelated - what pickups are you using?
yup. Much better on synths, ain't it?
No.. just different 😊
@@patrickr6505 sounds horribly fake to me on guitar... I'll watch Andy's demo to see if I'm gonna say same after
Walrus m1 on steroids?
