  • We cross into Mexico via the Boquillas Crossing from Big Bend National Park. The town of Boquillas hems on the border of the Rio Grande and it's birth was from time past when mining ruled these parts. Now it's mostly known as an international experience for visitors from Big Bend National Park to get a small taste of Mexico.

Thanks for this video; I'm going to visit there today. You should make it a point to visit more of Mexico. So many more beautiful towns with Spanish colonial architecture.... Guanajuato, Queretaro, Morelia, San Miguel de Allende, and so many more.

Visiting more of Mexico is definitely on the Bucket List. Hopefully rather soon too!

My wife and I visited Big Bend back in March this year (2023) and did this same trip and it was great fun and if you have time I highly recommend it. We are from the UK and when we got to the Rio Grande crossing and discovered it was $10 return for both of us we realised we had no US currency (I use Apple Pay for pretty much everything these days). But, I did have a £10 note in my wallet so I offered it to the ferry man instead. He looked at it suspiciously as I explained that it had a picture of the Queen on it (I don’t know why I thought that would help 🤓) and that in fact it was worth MORE than $10 - that did it, he took a risk and accepted my offer and we made it across. Don’t forget your passport.

Can you get through with a State of TX star ID or do you have to have a passport?

Back in the day I don’t think it was a problem but now you do need your passport.

Is less than a mile from the river to Boquillas, don’t abuse that poor “Burritos” instead of that, please walk! ✌🏼Big Bend is one of the most beautiful National Parks and we have it in TEXAS!!!

Donkeys have been ridden for thousands of years. They are fine and it is not abuse.

Burro ride, two overpriced restaurants, and 3rd World ambience.

A little overpriced but that’s to be expected in a town that is in such a rural environment.
