I Explored an Old Mining Town in Mexico- Boquillas Crossing

- Did you know that you can cross the border into Mexico at Big Bend National Park? I had no idea until my friend Gary told me about it! I was nervous to visit at first- but that soon faded!
After a short visit at the Port of Entry Office, you can wade across the Rio or ride a boat into the small village of Boquillas Del Carmen. To get to the main part of town you can ride a burro or horse, catch a car ride, or walk a half mile on a sandy stretch until you see the lines of artists at work. All with their jewelry, stitchwork, and unique art on display. Choose from two restaurants to enjoy some authentic Mexican food, and music! If you’re lucky, you’ll find a local guide to share the interesting history of this old mining town!

Ever since I was in grade school I've wanted to ride on the burro trip into the Grand Canyon. The children's book, "Brighty of the Grand Canyon" was what did it, maybe someday.
Hey there! Thanks so much for this wonderful comment! I have a few friends who have done the burro ride down Grand Canyon, and they say it's well worth it! It's been on my bucket list for a while now too. I was going to hike it like my mom did back in the day, but she just got her second knee replacement so I'm thinking it over haha!
