The AR15/ M4 and M16 is by far the easiest gun to learn to shoot on.

You are so right, all of the videos I have seen which recommend sighting-in the AR-15/M4 at any distance rather than 300 meters are just plain stupid. But at any rate, sighting in the M16-A2 at 25 meters the BDC wheel must initally be set to 8/3 +1 or A4 to 6/3 +2 Z mark on the wheel. After Zeroing then turn wheel back to 8/3 or 6/3 which will get desired 300 meter zero and bullet drop compensation function. Now, what's so nice about shooting on the Military zeroing target is the shooter and shooter's coach need not understand MOA to properly adjust sights for a battle sight zero and bullet drop compensation function. And that's good since some Soldiers just can't get it. The maximum effective range of an M16 depending on model is 460 to 550 meters. Not 300 as said the in the video.

Mk 262 and an AGOG extend M16 performance to more than 600 meters. Interestingly enough shooting 80 grain VLDs from my match conditioned AR-15 I can generally shoot 94% on the NRA Long-Range target at 1000 yards. That means I can hold about 2 MOA or 20 inches in a light (4 mph) full value prevailing wind condition. The point is today's AR-15 is indeed a awesome platform for Long Range Marksmanship Development because it will get a bullet to 1000 yards nose-on, but not to point of aim without some training.

Most folks don't even care anymore there is no marksmanship skill it is just a red dot not even k owing you can shoot j7st as accurately with no sights offof point of aim shooting I had a dot whatever to try it ate batteries was red and obtrusive even why small, a mouse would fart and ieas no longer zeroed. Optics or any glass is a wast of money and should be used in a 4 power at 50 yards with a 1022 or a caliber converted ar or some other 22 leaving the he is xpnsive glass is just a show pony no to be fielded or even in competition which is controlled irons are superior to anything but cjhraper irons don't eul out imexpendixe go some back ups after a fumble and was broke and hough rwlocayrd work well good video

Natural Point Of Aim...find it, verify it, trust it.

Yes indeed, muscular relaxation, bone/artificial support, and natural point of aim are the elements of a solid position. Princess and the Pea sensitivity for exactingly adjusted NPA is in fact the key to the best results in long range prone sling supported shooting.

No bullshit. I did the same when teaching my platoon during pre-deployment. Now that I am retired for 9 years now. Some of my soldiers who are now NCOs will reinforce that training that I gave them back when they were young soldiers. Even my former soldiers who now own their own firearms like the AR-15/M4 civilian once in a while call me or drop by to do some old fashioned range time with me to talk about the old days. This is time tested and true methods indeed.

The major problem with the 25 meter qualification target is every silhouette is POI POA, since it’s at 25 meters you do not have to compensate for bullet rise/drop.
It actually teaches you the wrong fundamentals, it teaches you to sight in targets with the wrong sight picture hurting you on a actual qualification corse, I do not recommend any one buy them as it is a complete waste of time.

@@funkmonkeyfun the physics of it is sighting in at 25 meters using a center mass hold will deliver a 300 meter zero whereby bullet path is no more than 10 inches high to 300 meters and no more than 10 inches low to 350 meters. So I was hoping for an example of your issue? I am a Military Rifle Instructor assisting the USAMU deliver SDM, TTT, and SAFS training and none of my students have had any problem with sighting in on the 25 meter target after learning how to point the rifle with consistent sight alignment and pull the trigger without disturbing aim utilizing SMOOTH trigger control. This is why your post is interesting. I’d like to better understand your complaint should I encounter it.

@@funkmonkeyfunI am neither confused or overthinking it. Fact is the M4, A4, and A2 sights promote a 300 meter zero and bullet drop compensation function which assures good hits on targets to mid range as is proven by thousands is shooters participating in US Service Rifle Competition.
