  • How we got our Dometic RV refrigerator to stay cold. It's a really common problem from what I've seen on the internet and there are a few fixes but this is what we used to get our rv fridge to be colder.

    Fridge Fan - amzn.to/3NoPHBr

    We had all the same problems and used all these fixes. We’re in a very hot climate…SC beaches. These fixes with the interior and exterior fans did help some. Also, we’d freeze water bottles and put them in the fridge while traveling…which was a big help. We finally installed the 12v compressor system by JC Refrigeration in Shipshewana, Indiana. These guys have a great product. Just so we never have to worry about power while traveling or boondocking we also had them install 600 watts solar power with a 280AH lithium battery. This has relieved so much of our stress while camping…I can not emphasize this enough.

      That's definitely the move if this fridge dies (which it probably will)

    Domedic and Norcold both have a recalls due to fires caused by the fridge overheating. There’s been a lot of talk about it in an RV group on FB I’m on. Norcold states even if you’ve had repair work done prior you need to turn it off and have the recall work done. It has something to do with a tube overheating and catching fire. Doesn’t matter if you’re running unit on electric or propane, camped or moving. It’s truly a part failure that needs to be repaired. This may not apply to your fridge. But there have been to many fires recently.

      The only recall for Dometic fridges I can find is for fridges made in 2006 at the latest

      @@sbramel93 I just typed in the search line “domedic refrigeration recall” and the first thing that pops up is a description of the recall. Click on the link and there’s a copy of the legal paper dated June 24, 2020. Google the other one too. It’s all out there.

    Omg thank you. We always have issues with our fridge when it’s hot. Like milk going bad days before it’s supposed to expire.

    Love the ladder. Thank you for sharing all the items that help improve your RV we are learning so much which is good because in a year or two we are going on the road year round. As soon as hubby can retire from the railroad we are sailing our farm or else entrusting our son with it and taking off!! I can’t wait and we have a 14 year old daughter who is going with us.

    My power company told me to fill the freezer as full as possible as it doesn’t take as much power to keep cool as a half full freezer would. I’m guessing they meant the fridge as well just as long as the fan has room to work. Power tip.

    • @libbyammerman8383
      @libbyammerman8383 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I actually wouldn’t recommend this. I’ve filled our freezer with already frozen food and after a couple days I realized that the meat was starting to defrost.

    • @moremaass
      @moremaass  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      That's true for a residential freezer. In our RV freezer I start it with a block of ice in it (make sure it doesn't leak if it melts some) so the temp drops quickly. The fridge doesn't start getting cool until the freezer is down to temp so the quicker the better.

    Unfortunately I didn’t have good results with these fans. I installed the one inside of the fridge and the outside exhaust one and haven’t seen any improvements on the temperature of the fridge. Still struggling hovering around 43-50 F.

      I keep it in the back of my truck when we aren't traveling. It's just handy to have. You never know when you need to reach a 10 foot lightbulb or rescue a kitten from a tree.

    How long does 12v last.

    • @moremaass
      @moremaass  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      A long time. When we are hooked to the truck it gets charged by the trucks alternator. When we are hooked up to power at a campsite it charges off the inverter. Some RVs have solar power to charge the batteries as well.

    Forgive me for being confused! But how is it a fridge if it does not keep itself cold?

    • @moremaass
      @moremaass  2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      RV fridges are notoriously inefficient, especiallyin hot weather, and even moreso when its unplugged and running off propane to keep cool.

    how come the american flag on your sleeve is backwards? isn't that sacrilegious for you guys or something? or is that a being in war type thing?

    • @robinsargent4801
      @robinsargent4801 2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Basically, the idea behind the backward American flag on Army uniforms is to make it look as though the flag is flying in the breeze as the person wearing it moves forward.
