- Michael's back upstairs this week, removing yet more lithe and plaster, taking down walls and finding lots of damp and rot at our renovation project. Can we figure out a way to solve the damp problem without losing the history and character of our Portuguese home?
The pets are back by popular demand, too!

You are making such progress quickly. It seems that way since I am watching episodes back to back. I loved the Pet Cam.
It amazes me how much Michael does in a week 😊
It’s so sweet to find all those precious antiques and your working very hard to clean them up how awesome! You both are so very soft spoken.I enjoy the videos and the beautiful paradise you have. That would look awesome for a coffee table😊❤ Thanks for sharing!!
Thanks so much 🥰 really appreciate all of your lovely words! 💛
cat also wants to become famous with a handyman house
Oh yes! 🤣
Admirable le cat et vous ❤❤
Merci beaucoup 💛
Boy, your videos have improved out of sight with the various angles, coverage of various activities and pet cam. For people who have never done them before, bravo. And the size of that rat 😂, no wonder they had those massive chests to keep perishables in.
Oh thanks so much! The pets provide hours of footage 🤣
Your cat is awesome💯💯💯💯
😻
Love your channel, always interesting and lots of work done, never boring that’s for sure, I can see how you adore your dogs and cat, best wishes from Scotland
That's so lovely, thank you! 💛
Another nice episode. You’re making good progress. I like the shot where we see you both working at the same time in different buildings.
Thanks so much 💛 that means a lot!
Enjoying watching your work on the house. Removing those walls has opened up the space beautifully!
Thanks so much. It really has transformed the space 😍
She sure is a pretty tortoise shell.❤
Thank you 💛 she knows it!!
Having the rendering off will probably speed up the drying process. You sure keep busy, great amount of hard work done again.👍
Thank you 😊 that's our theory with the walls too...! 🤞🏻
Such a busy, hard worker. I hope you accomplish all that you plan on doing.
Thanks so much 💛
Super la chest bravo
Merci ☺️
You can see that damp problem has been going on forever. 👍
Yup!!!
I'm surprised that the walls are not totally above the floorboards. They were built before putting the floorboards down by the look of it.
Be careful lol, your neighbours might be a subscriber, he'll be asking a fortune and be out watering before you know it.😂
Hahaha! Very true 😅
It's a little hard to tell, but it looks like there was faded hand painted decoration under the old finish. Looking at the hinges, the joinery, & general construction, definitely an old storage chest. If yes, it was likely a water- based translucent paint/stain under shellac or hard wax. Again, if yes, there are ways to restore these pieces that will allow you to discover the original paint/stain & reapply. These pieces are awesome without restoring the original decorations; however, capturing the unique decorations is also wonderful. Rather than give you detailed notes, maybe you should check out videos of folks who do this work. These video also provide lots of information on the manner of construction which is really helpful when repairing similar pieces. Chrigun Restoration primarily works on very, very old pieces. Handgefertigte Massivholzmobel Neustadl works on very, very old & newer pieces.
That's really interesting and something we'd not noticed, so we'll definitely look into it. Thanks so much! We really want to try and restore things to their original glory if we can! 😊
Beautiful cat! Not that great a mouser, though, as she only plays games with them, then releases them 😂😂😂
😅 she's too well fed!
@PortugalonaPostcard Exactly! I used to be owned by three cats. Had the same issue 😃 🤣
Hello there would you recommend a diyer for such a project good to see clean and tidy work where are you getting rid of the rubble etc cheers
Thanks so much! We've currently got a room full of rubble... Need to find somewhere that'll take it!
@@PortugalonaPostcard if you are going to lay a concrete floor for a workshop rubble can go the base and wakker it down
I have done concreteing before good job
Hola,yo dejaría un tiempo las piedras al aire y después resuelvo
Muchas gracias 😊
